The objective was to determine the relationships among the levels of soybean trypsin inhibitor activity (TI), pancreatic hypertrophy, body weight gain. and the amino acid digestibility in turkey poults. Two commercially custom-prepared soybean meals were blended to produce six diets with a range of TI from 2.9 to 6.0 ㎎/㎏ of diet. Body weight gains were 459, 453, 462, 450, 458 and 432g; pancreas weights 1.74, 1.84, 1.97, 2.14, 2.38 and 2.33g; metabolizable energy values 3,440, 3,468, 3,481, 3,437, 3,422 and 3.474 ㎉/㎏ dry matter of diet; the mean values of amino acid digestibility by ileal contents 83.2, 86.1, 83.5, 84.2, 83.9 and 84.1%; average amino acid digestibility by fecal excreta 86.5, 86.9, 85.3, 86.0, 86.2 and 86.3%. Although body weight gain was significantly reduced by the highest level of TI and pancreas weight was significantly increased by three highest levels of TI, the metabolizable energy values of the diets, and amino acid digestibilities by using ilea] contents and fecal excreta were not different.

Eighty-one Landrace barrows were used to investigate the effects of recombinant porcine somatotropin (rPST) administration on requirements of dietary digestible energy(DE) and lysine of finishing pigs. Pigs were ingected 10㎎ rPST per day for 23 days(50 to 90㎏) and allotted in a 3×3 factorial arrangement of treatments, nine pigsJtreatment, with three levels of DE(3.4, 3.6 or 3.8mcal/㎏) and lysine (0.8, 1.2 or 1.6%). Six pigs from each treatment were randomly selected and slaughtered to determine carcass mesurements. Though rPST was administered, increasing DE and lysine concentration of the diets improved daily gain and feed per 1㎏ gain, but had no effect on lean meat and backfat thickness. However the optimum DE and lysine level based on growth performance, DE and lysine intakes and feed cost per 1㎏ gain seemed to be 3.6 mcal DE/㎏ and 1.2? in the corn soybean meal diet when rPST was administered.
