Odontogenic myxoma is one of rare tumors in oral and maxillofacial region and it is thought to be mesenchymal or ectomesenchymal origin. Its characteristics are benign and non-metastatic but it has the potential of local invasion and high recurrence rate. It originally occurs in atrium of heart and in central case, my xoma is located mainly in the maxilla and mandible. Most odontogenic myxoma develops in 2nd or 3rd decades of life and rarely occurs in child or older persons over fifty. The distribution of reported cases between the sexes is similar and the maxilla and mandible are equally affected or slightly higher in mandible. Clinically it is usually asymptomatic, however it can cause pain and paresthesia is complained in the advanced stages. Displacement and mobility of teeth have also been reported Odontogenic myxoma is not a frequent tumor, but in case of slow and painless growing tumor it must be considered as a differential diagnosis.
주의력결핍/과잉행동장애와 도파민 D4 수용체 촉진자 부위 -521C/T 다형성과의 연관성

목적 : 주의력결핍/과잉행동장애는 가장 흔한 소아정신질환이며 유전성향이 높다고 알려져 있다. 여러 가지 후보 유전자중 도파민계 유전자에 대한 연구가 가장 주목받아 왔다. 유전자 다형성의 특성상 인종적, 민족적 특이성이 존재한다. 서양 연구에서와는 다르게, 한국 연구에서는 DRD4유전자 촉진자 부위 -521C/T 유전자 다형 성과 주의력결핍/과잉행동장애간에 연관성이 있었다. 우리는 이를 재검증하고자 하였다. 방법 : 연구 대상은 107명의 주의력결핍/과잉행동장애 환자군과 114명의 일반 신생아 집단이 참여하였다. 환자군과 대조군에서 -521염기의 C/T 다형성의 유전자형과 대립유전자 분포의 차이를 비교분석하였다. 결과 :환자군과 대조군간에 -521C/T 다형성의 유전자형과 대립유전자 분포의 차이가 없었다. 결론 :한국인에서 DRD4 유전자 촉진자 부위 -521C/T 유전자 다형성과 주의력결핍/과잉행동장애 간에 유의한 연관성이 없음을 보여주었다. Objectives:Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) is known to be the most common childhood psychiatric disorder with high heritability estimates. The dopamine system genes have been the focus of most candidate gene studies of ADHD. Polymorphism displays considerable racial/ethnic heterogeneity. In contrast with previous Western studies, significant association of the -521C/T polymorphism in the promoter region of DRD4 with ADHD was reported in Korean study. We aimed to replicate this finding. Methods:107 ADHD patients and 114 normal neonates participated in this study. The genotypes and allele frequency of the -521C/T polymorphism between ADHD patients and controls were compared. Results:There was no significant difference in genotype(p=0.506) and allele(p=0.252) frequency of the -521C/T polymorphism between ADHD patients and controls. Conclusion:It suggested that there was no association of the -521C/T polymorphism with ADHD in Korean population.

Bone grafts are widely used in the reconstruction of osseous defects in the oral and maxillofacial region. Autogenous bone grafts are considered the gold standard in grafting of the oral and maxillofacial region, because of its osteoconductive and osteoinductive properties. Mandibular symphysis & ascending ramus bone graft have been used more frequently because of easy surgical access, reduced operative time, and following minimal morbidity. However, even though the frequent use of the anterior part of ascending ramus and the different regions of mandible, rare of the reports provide information about the quantity of bone available in this donor site. So this study was taken to evaluate & quantify the amount of bone graft material in the anterior ascending ramus regions. This study was made on 36 samples of CT image. In 3D volume image, imaginary osteotomy & segmentation were done and the dimensions and volume of the bone grafts were measured and evaluated. the average volume of the graft materials obtained from the ascending ramus was 3656.83± 108.19mm3, and the average dimensions of graft materials were (33.68±0.48)×(34.92±0.51)×(15.96±0.27)×(9.05±0.27)mm.
