The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between child perception of mother's rearing attitude and mother's employment status, and mother's job satisfaction. The subjects were 225 fifth graders and 70 employed mothers and 155 unemployed mothers selected from 2 primary schools located in a low income residential area in Seoul. The instruments used were a questionnaire about mother's child rearing attitude by Kim, Kyung-Hee, et al(1976) and 12 questions selected from Thomson's test of mother's satisfaction on her employment(1980) translated by Park, He-Ryung(1986). Data were analyzed by Chi-square and t-test. The resulting showed no significant statistical differences on the perception of mother rearing attitudes either as a function of mother's employment status or her job satisfaction. It was concluded that the child rearing attitude of low income mothers was not affected by the mother's employment status or job satisfaction.
