With the advantages such as high efficiency, fast start-up and the supply of both electricity and heat, Combined Cycle Power Plant(CCPP) plays a critical role in the national energy mix. The efficiency management is critical because it uses expensive fuel while it is used for peak power management. However the efficiency management is technically difficult because its operation modes are frequently variable. Thus the limited analysis of thermal efficiency in a specific operation mode is normal practice in industries. The performance monitoring system suggested in this paper analyzes the thermal efficiency using the data obtained from field-installed sensors and ultimately supports condition-based maintenance. Furthermore, it enables 1) to validate the signals from the sensors installed on the site using physical/empirical models, 2) to detect the variation of efficiency on the basis of the expected performance using simulation rather than corrected performance using manufacture’s curves, and 3) to establish the strategies for expected electricity and heat supply on the basis of future weather conditions. Real-time thermal efficiency analysis which was not achieved by conventional technologies in the past is expected to contribute to optimize operation and maintenance. The suggestions made in this paper are the products from the joint project with Bundang CCCP of Korea South-East Power Company.

The notion of materiality in architecture has existed throughout its history, and it has begun to discussed in earnest as an important architectural discourse since early twentieth century, when the Industrial Revolution and its consequent mass-production system has fundamentally changed the means and methods of architectural production. However, this traditional notion of materiality is not fully engaged with today’s digital paradigm, and not able to inquire into the complex aspects of contemporary architectural process, because their theoretical and perceptional bases are still remaining in modern era. In this shifting context, this study is intended to develop a new concept of digital materiality which corresponding to contemporary digital and material culture. This paper speculates and argues digital materiality as an active ingredients of contemporary design process as well as a comprehensive logical system that negotiate with various geometric conditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze and investigates the distinctive characteristics of Office dA’s architectural design process in the digital realm.
크리스토퍼 놀란의 영화에 나타나는 피라네지 공간에 관한 연구

The eighteenth century witnessed the emergence of various debates and polemics in aesthetical theory. In this shifting period, visionary architect, Giovanni Battista Piranesi explored the new spatial possibilities through the medium of engravings. He challenged the limits of classical language of architecture and its representational setup, and elaborately surpassed the boundaries to create a ground for new spatial conception. Integrating architectural fantasies as the means of formal analysis of space, his experiments produced a new notion of space which allows constant redefinition and infinite reinterpretations. Based on this constantly redefining nature and renewing capability of his idea, this study is intended to reinvent the concept of ‘Piranesian Space’ through the analysis of inherent characteristics represented in his etching Le Carceri. In an attempt to generate a link that connects Piranesi’s idea to contemporary spatial art, this study applies this concept of Piranesian Space as an analytical framework to examines the space in Christopher Nolan’s film Inception. Ultimately, the purpose of this study is to investigate the corelation extant between Piranesi’s thinking and contemporary architectural and spatial discourses.
Glutathione-S-transferase와 esterase 효소 저해특성을 이용한 농약의 혼합 상승효과

In vitro inhibitory activity of 34 insecticides and 31 fungicides to glutathione-S-transferase and esterases extracted from rats was determined. Of tested pesticides, the pesticides with high activity on both detoxifying enzymes were mixed with pesticides that are known to be detoxified by detoxifying enzymes. Glutathione-S-transferase was inhibited by thiodicarb (I??: 1.87×10?⁴M), thiocyc1am (7.40×10?⁴M), dithianon (7.55×10??M), and tolylfluanide (8.66×10??M), while esterases by dichlorvos (8.95×10??M), pirimicarb (2.74×10??M), pyrazophos (3.31×10??M), and benomyl (4.96×10??M). After acephate known to be detoxified by glutathione-S-transferase was mixed with glutathione-S-transferase-inhibiting pesticides and phenthoate known to be detoxified by esterases was mixed with esterases-inhibiting pesticides, insecticidal activities of such mixtures were determined against diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella L.). Synergistic action was observed in all pesticide combinations. The highest synergistic action was obtained when phenthoate was combined with dichlorvos, showing that co-toxicity coefficients were 1512 and 1877 after 24 and 48 hours of treatment, respectively. Several other combinations of pesticides, such as phenthoate with benomyl, and acephate with dithianon, also showed synergism, showing that their co-toxicity coefficients were about 1,000 and 500, after 24 hours of treatment, respectively. Our results showed that combinations of pesticides inhibited by detoxifying enzymes and ones detoxified by detoxifying enzymes resulted in increased toxicities of pesticides, suggesting that such combinations could be used to develop pesticide mixtures with more broad spectrum and high effectiveness.

Potato blackleg disease caused by Erwinia carotovora subsp. atroseptica (Eca) has been a serious problem in Korea. Bactericidal activities of twelve bactericides including antibiotics, copper compounds and oxolinic acid were examined in vitro. Streptomycin, streptomycin sulfate, and oxolinic acid effectively controlled the pathogen at 0.02 mM. However, the pathogen developed resistance to the applied bactericides after 72 hours of incubation. Activity of copper compounds such as copper hydroxide, copper oxide and copper sulfate was lower than that of antibiotics. However, the pathogen did not develop resistant to them. Combinations of streptomycin (0.016 mM, 9.3 ppm)+copper oxide (1.2 mM, 171.6 ppm)/copper hydroxide (1.5 mM, 146.3 ppm); streptomycin sulfate (0.005 mM, 7.0 ppm)+copper oxide (1.2 mM, 171.6ppm)/copper hydroxide (1.5 mM, 146.3 ppm) were found to be effective for the control of E. carotovora subsp. atroseptica.
