Many of the cultural heritage listed in UNESCO among traditional buildings have many buildings using stone. It would be a material that reflects Korean Identity. In Korean architecture, it was used as a material reflecting the inherent characteristics of "stone" such as weight, stability, roughness, hierarchy, and organization. Moreover, even when succeeded to modern times, the building retains the sense of weight and hierarchy. In addition, various designs have been attempted according to the organization method. Unlike the light and weak architectural attempts of Japanese architecture, the heavy, stable and long-lasting decent architecture is characteristic of Korean architecture. The stone material is considered to have a potential to reflect the characteristics of Korean architecture. And the unique characteristics of the stone are expressed through various creative design processes in the architectural design that fits the modern lifestyle. Therefore, future researches on the direction of the integration of traditional in modern architecture will be needed.
