A 3-D finite element model of human thoracolumbar spine (T12-L2) was reconstructed from CT images. Various anterior and posterior instrumentation techniques were performed with long cage after corpectomy. Six loading cases were applied up to 10 Nm, espectively. The rotations of T12 with respect to L2 were measured and the stiffnesses were calculated as the applied forces divided by the segmental rotations. The posterior fixation technique increased the stiffness of the spine the most. The addition of anterior rod from 1 to 2 increased the stiffness significantly without posterior fixation, but no effect was found with posterior fixation. We found that different fixation techniques changed the stiffness of the spine.

We performed the mechanical test for obtaining properties of femoral head. Tested sample was male and 35 years old. We measured bone mineral density by dual X-ray absorption method(DEXA). Results of DEXA, he has normal condition of bone density. His BMD 1.159g/㎠ and T-Score is 1.6. Tested femurs were harvested by surgical method from donated cadaver. We made 9 specimens in femoral head, 8 specimens in neck used by diamond core drill. Then we performed compressive test in saline solution at 38 . We obtained results that elastic modulus of femoral head was 0.439㎬, neck was 0.459㎬. Compressive strength of femoral head was 7.441㎫, neck was 7.095㎫. There was no significant difference of mechanical properties between left and right femoral head & neck. Invested local properties of femoral head have more strength superior and anterior side, femoral neck has more strength in superior and inferior side but other side except for superior has more weakness along the lateral side.

Chemotaxis, or preferential motion due to presence of a chemical gradient, is an important factor in sperm fertilization of eggs in that it is the first interaction between sperm and egg. In the present study, we aim to quantify the possible chemoattractive role of the jelly coat. The chemotaxis of the sperm of sea urchin was demonstrated with the effective motility coefficient by a microfchannel made of polydimethysiloxane (PDMS). The relevance of these findings is that they provide insight on the first steps towards egg fertilization.

The machine structure or parts has been arrive at a fracture, depend on crack by repeated load. Machine designer is estimate of fatigue strength in early stages the design for prevent fatigue fracture, then necessary its load history. This research study is using diesel locomotive in measurement of load history for fatigue design of rolling stock. The relation between velocity and amplitude of load history was found. We confirmed that the increase of velocity make to increase the magnitude of amplitude.

In April 1, 2004, age of high-speed railway was opened to korea railroad. The railroad is a means of large transportation which has many talents such as a safety and a regularity. That is a results from various confidential performance tests and evaluations of the system. The railroad system consist of various subsystems - vehicle, power supply, signal, communications, track structures, operations, etc. Among them, as an item of safety evaluation there is a measurement of wheel/rail force, so called a measurement of derailment coefficient. This is a very important item because a derailment of a train will bring about a big accident. Especially it is more important in high speed rail of which operation speed is over two times as fast as existing rail. In this paper, examined speed elevation possibility use the korean style high speed railway vehicle for reduce the running time of high-speed railway between high speed line and conventional line.

Since a derailment of rolling stocks results in huge losses in properties and lives, the measurement of a derailment coefficient is a very important test item to estimate the running safety of rolling stocks. For a measurement of the derailment measurement of forces between the wheel and rail a measuring wheel-set should be made first. The process to make a measuring wheel-set has some stages for correct measurement. They are as follows; a finite element analysis of a wheel to find a position of holes at which vertical force shall be measured, a finite element analysis for the position of strain gauges.

The important factor to evaluate the running safety of a railway vehicle would be the interaction force between wheel and rail(derailment coefficient), for which is one of important factors to check the running safety of a railway vehicle that may cause a tragic accident. In this paper, when interaction force between wheel and rail happens to wheel-set of tilting vehicles, it analyzes stress distribution and verified safety.
