Focusing on Jeon, Bong Geon"s long poem, 「Chunhyang Yeonga」, we examined the matter of self-perception through body and space, physical damage and severance of space, and body and space as a communicational tool. Through body and space in this poem, Chunhyang continuously asks questions to herself to identify herself, compares herself to objects or tries to identify herself through physical movement. However, she can only identify her damaged body painfully in a limited space, prison. Through her damaged body, Chunhyang perceives reality. Though a sensual body exists in Chunhyang"s ideal world imagined, the closed space(prison) only makes Chunhyang perceive the suppressed reality. On the other hand, Chunhyang"s damaged body, severed from Lee Doryeong is changed to a sensual body outside of the prison in her imagination. Chunhyang with a sensual body aims to meet Lee Doryeong and to overcome reality through her imagination. The body and space in 「Chunhyang Yeonga」 show the previous stage where herself and reality are perceived as main images that develop Chunhyang"s imagination.
