The purpose of this study was to investigate characteristics of behavior of nutrients such as TN (Total nitrogen), TDN (Total dissolved nitrogen), TP (Total phosphorus) TDP (Total dissolved phosphorous) in runoff water from a nonpoint source dominated watershed ($6.67\;km^2$). Regular and intensive flow measurement and water sampling were taken during two years (February 2002 to January 2004) in the Ingyeong River, a tributary of the Han River. The mean concentrations of nutrients during rainy days were significantly (p < 0.05) higher than those during dry days. The mean TDN/TN ratio in rainy days (95%) is almost identical to that in dry days (96%), but mean TDP/TP ratio in rainy days (24%) significantly decreased compared with that in dry days (66%), suggesting that dominant form of TP is shifted from dissolved form to particulate form. Accordingly, the measures (.eg. filter strips, cover crops) to reduce soil erosion for fallow upland in the rainy season should be taken to control particulate phosphorous.

The purpose of this study was to investigate characteristics of concentrations of pollutants such as TN (Total Nitrogen), TP (Total Phosphorus) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) in outflow from a nonpoint source dominated watershed ($6.7km^2$). Regular flow measurement and water sampling were taken at five-day intervals during two years (February 2002 to January 2004) in the Ingyeong River, a tributary of the Han River. The mean concentrations of pollutants during rainy days were significantly (p<0.05) higher than those during dry days. For dry days, the flow-weighted mean concentration (0.06 mg/L) of TP during paddy irrigation periods were higher than that (0.02 mg/L) during non-irrigation periods. The seasonal mean concentration of TN was highest in spring likely due to nitrogen fertilization, but those of TP and COD were highest in summer due to particulate phosphorus and sediment-associated organic matter caused by increased discharge. The pollutant concentrations significantly increased with discharge, suggesting that the measures to reduce the increase in the concentrations during storms are needed to control nonpoint source pollution.

In this study, we investigated concentrations and loads of nutrients in the paddy plots with conventional and environmental farming method. For two experimental plot, type of fertilizer for basal dressing was different but total applied fertilizer rates was almost identical. The nutrient concentrations in irrigation and percolated water were almost constant, while the ponded water significantly increased after fertilizer application. The nutrient concentrations in ponded water at long distance from inlet was higher than those at short distance due to longer detention time.
비점원 농촌유역으로부터의 용존성 및 현탁성 영양물질의 농도특성

본 연구는 2002년 1월부터 2004년 8월까지 비점원 주체의 농촌유역에서의 유출수를 대상으로 오염물질(TN, TP, TDN, TDP)의 농도변화 특성을 파악하였다. 여기서 얻은 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 평상시 비관개기와 관개기의 TDN/TN 비는 각각 95.4%와 95.6%로 나타나 질소의 대부분은 용존성으로 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 강우시의 TDN/TN 비는 92.3%로 평상시 비관개기와 관개기보다 약간 낮게 나타났지만 대부분 용존성으로 유출되는 것으로 나타났다. 2. 비관개기, 관개기 및 강우시의 TP에 대한 TDP의 평균 비율(TDP/TP비)은 각각 54.7%, 64.6%, 25.0%로 관개기>비관개기>강우시의 순으로 나타났는데, 이것은 강우에 의한 영향으로 논이나 밭에서 상당량의 입자성 성분이 유출되기 때문이라 생각된다. 3. 2002년부터 2004년까지의 월변화에 따른 경향에 있어서, 질소중 용존성 성분이 차지하는 비율은 79~100%인데 비하여 TP에 대한 용존성비는 15~90%로 질소보다 상당히 낮고 월별 변화가 큰 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 2003년과 2004년의 비가 낮은 강우량을 기록했던 2002년보다 낮게 나타났는데, 이것은 유출량의 증가로 토양 침식과 함께 토양에 부착된 입자성 성분이 증가하기 때문으로 생각된다. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of labor of water management and maintenance, water requirement, water quality(T-N, T-P, COD) in the paddy plot irrigated by pipeline with two types of hydrants: automatic and manual. The automatic hydrant have been introduced to the paddy field to save water and reduce the labor for water management. The automatic hydrant is automatically opened and closed according to the water depth of a paddy plot. The automatic hydrant generally developed more troubles than the manual hydrant. The water requirements are 2.7mm/d for the automatic hydrant plot and 17.6mm/d for the manual hydrant plot. The concentrations of pollutants in the two plots are higher in the ponded water than in the irrigation water and are highest after fertilizer application.

Characteristics of concentration of pollutants such as total nitrogen(T-N), total phosphorus(T-P) and chemical oxygen demand(COD) during dry days of 2002-2003 were investigated for streamwater from a rural watershed. Water was sampled and discharge was measured at 5-days intervals at outlet of study area. The mean concentrations of pollutants in non-irrigation and irrigation period not significantly different. For increasing discharge in 2002, TN concentration increased but COD concentrations decreases.
