In this paper, a model based analysis method was proposed using the equations of motion of the HAUV, containing the thruster model. PD control was used in the Matlab/simulink simulation for the motion analysis. HAUV’s paremeters was obtained from the CFD analysis by ANSYS Fluent. The simulation was to move the HAUV toward the target and the time-response of the thruster was obtained as the current, RPM, and thrust force. The combined results were the basic vehicle performance containing velocities, battery requirements, and operational distance of the HAUV. The model based motion performance analysis is capable of fast remodelling even if the design requirements are changed at the system/parts level because the part models are included in system model. The model based motion performance analysis can offer the designers a powerful design tool in case of changing requirements of the system or components level.
