The models in therapeutic recreation have provided both philosophical and pragmatic orientation to advance both the theory and practice of the profession. Thus models play at least three roles about the developments of therapeutic recreation. First, they describe and define the purpose and scope of therapeutic recreation. Second, they identify key elements and theory about therapeutic recreation. And third, they allow theorists and practitioners to research and practice in a reasoned manner. A more specific framework for analysis of models of therapeutic recreation has been presented. Analysis involves reviewing all writings by the authors of models. A number of issues should be used to guide the analysis as applied to models in therapeutic recreation. Issues may be grouped under three areas: (1) central ideas ; (2) related theory ; (3) scope of model ; (4) characteristics. Through the last two decades, the centrality of models in therapeutic recreation is changed from leisure oriented approach to health oriented approach. The structure of models are based on social psychology and education theory. The development of model is critical to the establishing a basis of therapeutic recreation.

The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of leisure experience on leisure identity and leisure continuance of middle school student participating in after school sports club program. To accomplish the purpose of the study, 300 questionnaires were distributed to the middle students participating in after school sports club program(ASSCP) in Seoul using convenience sampling. Due to the reliability of data, 23 samples were discarded and 277 samples were put to actual analysis. By using SPSS Ver. 18.0, frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation and multiple regression were conducted. The results were as follows. First, the subordinating of leisure experience-perceived competence had an influence on Respect, Identification and Emotional attachment. Second, perceived competence, self-affirmation and getaways were effective on leisure continuance. Third, respect and emotional attachment were significantly related to leisure continuance. Main factors of middle school students to participate consistently in ASSCP were respect and emotional attachment-subordinating factors of leisure identity.

This study was to test the relationships among middle-aged group`s leisure perception, leisure sufficiency, and happiness. Specifically, the study aims to find the role of middle-aged group`s leisure activities and leisure sufficiency on their happiness in the middle years and in senescence. To meet this aim, the study sampled 395 people whose ages ranged from 40 to 59 at Seoul and Kyunggi-do. The study was performed from March to May in 2013. Collected data was analyzed by multiple regressions. First, Leisure Competence affected all sub-factors of leisure sufficiency. Leisure Control influenced Social Relationship and Education-Purpose. Leisure Need also affected Recreation. Second, Leisure Control affected self-confidence and hedonic enjoyment. Leisure competence influenced self-confidence, hedonic enjoyment, and feeling of flow. Leisure depth had an effect on self-confidence, feeling of self-realization, and feeling of flow. Leisure need had an effect on self-confidence, feeling of self-realization as well as hedonic enjoyment. Third, Social Relationship influenced feeling of self-realization and hedonic enjoyment. Family relationship affected self-confidence, feeling of self-realization, and hedonic enjoyment. Edcuation-Purpose and Recreation had an effect on all sub-factors of happiness.
