In the future of the automobile industry, the complexity of developed vehicle types is gradually increasing in response to various power sources (internal combustion engines, electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, hybrids) as well as market diversification (regulations and marketability of developed and emerging countries). The existing method of body structure development is a method suitable for the mass production system of small types. This type of the development is completed by building Standard Body Structure (GSB) including various reinforcements differentiated and applied according to the situation of each market region. For this reason, it was inevitable to increase the design/production complexity due to the diversification of product specifications. As the modular architecture development method was introduced to cope with such small-scale production of various types, we propose a body structure and the method of development that reduces complexity while maintaining the basic performance of the body (crashworthiness, durability NVH).
