요셉 보이스의 ‘사회적 조각’에 나타난 교육적 의미

        송혜영(Song Hae-young),이현애(토론자) 현대미술사학회 2008 현대미술사연구 Vol.24 No.-

Joseph Beuys’s ‘social sculpture’ unfolds in the way that it emphasizes the manifestation of collective creativities of all participants and endorses the notion of ‘extended art’, which subverts the conventional way of plastic art and sees art as a part of ordinary human life. Based on Steiner’s theory of cognitive thought, Beuys’s works are intended to show the cognitive process that combines the emotion made by the texture of material and the rational thought generated by the linguistic concept. The subject of this study, the 1970s blackboard, addresses the issue of rational thought. While working as a professor, Beuys often discussed social and political issues with students, and such experiences induced him to get involved in various organizational activities. After he resigned from the professor position in 1972, he promulgated his own ideas on social reform by utilizing blackboard as an educational tool through lectures in Germany and abroad. That way, he reemerged as a prominent social reformer and teacher who delivers truth. As he grew famous, his blackboards were settled and displayed in museums in various ways, but they were characteristically featured as part of installation art in which other objects were also involved. Beuys proposed a new role of art museum as the site where ‘ongoing forum’ in which mutual communication is always enabled takes place, and a self-complete school in which interdisciplinary studies are conducted takes shape. In this non-conventional notion of art museum, the blackboard functions as a pedagogical medium that induces open thought on the part of audiences. Beuys’s installation work 〈Direction of Energies to a new Society〉(1974-1977) points to a pedagogical function of ‘social sculpture’ by stressing human creativity enacted toward a new society. Such intention materializes in 100 blackboards, an educational tool to facilitate the viewers’ thoughts. However, to the Londoners who saw 〈Direction of Energies to a new Society〉 in 1974, as well as contemporary viewers who have to see it from a great distance, Beuys’s blackboards are not an open medium that enabled the unrestrained imagination and thought, so much as an educational instrument that served to implant Beuys’s subjective world view and his authorial voice into the viewer’s mind.

요셉 보이스의 작업에 공존하는 기독교와 샤머니즘 연구

        송혜영(SONG hae-young) 서양미술사학회 2012 서양미술사학회논문집 Vol.37 No.-

This research focuses on the works of Beuys and examines how the two conflicting elements, Christianity and Shamanism, coexist in his works. The world view of Beuys comes from the anthroposophical point of view of Rudolf Steiner. According to Steiner, all phenomena of birth, rise, flourish, decline, and dissipation in the Universe are related to an organic unity and, thus, the spiritual development of human is possible through active and organic exchanges with the overall surroundings. The sculpture theory of Beuys, which is based on Steiner’s synthetic point of view, also combines two polarities of warmth and coldness, extension and contraction, life and death. His work intends to show the internal process of formation that constantly moves and varies between the two polarities and the energy that is needed here is confirmed through materials such as fat and felt. Beuys criticizes denominational churches and approaches Christianity from the Steiner’s evolutionary perspective. Christ now equated to a scientist is no longer the transcendental being in heaven as is conveyed in the history of church but the true nature of strength existing in the realistic human life. Therefore, the Cross of Beuys stops being the traditional symbol of Christianity but becomes the compositive sign that totally affects the human life. In other words, it becomes the true strength that moves continuously between the horizontal axis of material and the vertical axis of spirit to overcome the conflicting relation of loss and split. To escape from the narrow-minded and rational thinking of modern people, Beuys intends to recover the shamanism of the past awakening sense and intuition of the spirit. But, Beuys’s shaman is now one step above the occult behavior of the past age and assigned the job of social reforming with the accomplishments of modern medicine, that is, receives the meaning of healer that cures diseases in individuals and the society. In particular, Beuys’s occult behavior is progressed In the consciousness, which is different from the traditional occult behavior that was progressed in an ecstatic state. Eventually, Beuys diagnoses the materialistic 20th century as a time of serious crisis and finds the cure in Christianity and shamanism. In his perspective that combines east and west, spirit and material, primitive age and modern civilization, past and future, Christianity and shamanism look mutually contradictory but, in fact, turn out to be the true nature of the strength awakening the human spirit and soul. And, above all, Christianity and shamanism that Beuys seeks share the same nature that endures pain and patience depending upon nobody and induces changes with only its own effort.

      • 컴퓨터를 활용한 급식관리 업무의 효율화

        이복희,송혜영 중앙대학교 생활과학연구소 2000 생활과학논집 Vol.13 No.-

Nowadays the computer application is enormously expanded in every way of life due to the development of information technology. The characteristics of computer are 1) fast, 2) precise, 3) reliable, 4) efficient and thus the productivity and effectiveness of work is greatly improved. Foodservice management is very labor-intensive and time consuming task. Recently, many kinds of computer softwares in foodservice management are developed and are used in some foodservice industry. The programs developed in the past are mainly for menu planning, nutrition analysis and evaluation, food cost analysis, while recent softwares are in use for purchasing, production, forecasting, inventory control, budget and employee payment etc.. In turn, all the tedious work becomes efficiently completed and managed in foodservice industry. However, this is only true in developed countries such as America, and yet not in Korea although the application of computer software is on the increase. Nevertheless, the computer based management system like ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning), EDI(Electronic Data Interchange), ECR(Efficient consumer response), VIP(Vendor Inventory Purchasing) etc. still deserves the value and appreciated in promoting the work productivity and efficiency in foodservice management. Therefore, computer softwares should be developed more and more and improved to be easily applicable in the foodservice area. Also, the integrated computer based management system should be developed and implemented in the foodservice industry for better management.
