Instantaneous temperature and heat flux on the wall of combustion chamber in direct injection spark ignition hydrogen fueled engine were<br/> measured by use of thin film instantaneous temperature probe. The<br/> qulitative tendencies in H2 engine were nearly samilar to those of gasoline engine, but instantaneous and mean temperatures, temperature dispertion and heat flux were entirely larger. The temperature of cylinder head was about 50K higher and the maximum value of heat flux was 1.8 times larger than that of gasoline engine.<br/>

In-cylinder turbulent flow pattern at global area and at local area of spark plug with auxiliary injection during compression process was compared. Turbulent flow characteristics for injection direction, injection pressure and injection timming were analyzed. As a result, it was founded that auxiliary injection during comprocession process was profitalbe to increse the turbulence during main combustion period and to control the turbulence at the vicinity of spark plug.<br/>

In order to generate the high turbulence at vicinity of spark timing the effects of intake pressure, inertia force and piston compression on turbulent generation were analyzed, and the turbulent generation method by means of auxiliary injection in cylinder during compression process was investigated. As a result, the turbulence at around of spark timing was increased about 40% by auxiliary injection.<br/>

The purpose of this research was to investigate the effect of exhaust gas recirculation(EGR) with diesel particulate filter(DPF) on heavy duty diesel emissions. The exhaust gas was recirculated to the intake manifold after the smoke was eliminated in the DPF. The major conclusions of this research are. i) at each speed engine. the ratio of the EGR was maximized to 60%. ii) the amount of NOx emissions in this engine operation was decreased to 90% at<br/> high engine load. and to more than 60% at low load and iii) the amount of NO, emissions was increased to five times with the increase of engine load. but the effect of EGR is more effective at the high engine load.

A visco-plastic self-consistent (VPSC) polycrystal model has been applied to simulate texture simulation and anisotropic properties of DP steels during deep drawing process. In order to evaluate the strain path during deep drawing, a steady state was assumed in the flange part of deep drawn cup. The final stable orientations were strongly dependent on the initial location in the blank. The evolution of anisotropy of DP steel sheets has been demonstrated through comparison of plastic strain rate vector at the different plastic strain levels.

To present credible fundamental data for the optimum design of combustion chamber and intake port, and for the prediction of engine performance. unsteady intake flow visualization device was made and visualizations of flow in cylinder with 2 intake valves during intake process were made by using PIV. It was found that the aspect of flow motion in cylinder with 2 intake valves were tumble patterns symmetric to valve bridge.<br/>

The instantaneous wan temperature and heat flux of the Piston crown, ring groove and land are measured and analyzed It was found that (i) the instantaneous wall temperature of the valve pocket, in the piston crown, is higher than that of the center of the crown and the edge of the crown is lowest; (ii) the instantaneous temperature of the top-ring groove and land are changed simi1ar to that of the piston crown, which are influenced by the behaivar of the piston ring; (iii) the distributions of the heat flux are not coincided with the wall surface temperature, which are depended on the f1ame distance, combustion condition, behavior of the piston ring and the state of cooling, etc
