SmartCrown roll profile 형상에 따른 Work roll과 Back-up roll 접촉경계면의 응력해석

SmartCrown is a system to control the plate crown by shifting s-shaped work rolls in the axial direction. The control range of the plate crown depends on a depth of s-shaped roll profile because its roll radius differs continuously along the axial direction. When the roll profile is changed to improve the control range, a contact stress between work roll and back-up role is also changed accordingly. In this study, the contact stress by the profiles and rolling conditions were analyzed with finite element method.

Plate crown control is important not only for plate quality but cost reduction in a plate mill. The plate crown can be effectively controlled with the work roll shifting system such as Continuous Variable Crown(CVC)+ and SmartCrown. In this work the characteristics and differences of SmartCrown and CVC+ were analyzed and through the analysis result SmartCrown roll profile was optimized to improve crown control range. From an operation result it is shown that the plate crown can be successfully controlled with the optimized SmartCrown roll profile.
