SPI(Quality Control System from Driven Piles) is a visual-measurement system for the pile rebound and the penetration movement using a high speed line-scan camera. In this study, the basic principle of measurement, system configurations, and specification are described in details. Then, the performance and measurement error of SPI is evaluated in aspects of precision and vibration caused by strong impacts from the driven pile. Finally, Case studies on Application of SPI are discussed.

The scour is a critical factor of the bridge stability. Scour depths are usually determined using empirical formulas or numerical studies. But all methods always include uncertainties resulting from hydraulic and geology conditions, therefore it is necessary to measure scour depths by in-situ monitoring using a sonar. In this study, the new pro-filing scour monitoring system was developed for scour measurement in tidal environment and the performance of the new monitoring system was evaluated. Then, a case study was discussed.
