A research for the optimal design of microwave absorbing material featuring for the broadband has been conducted to apply to warship. A multilayered structure was suggested using wave absorbing layers and resistance layer to perform high performance in broadband frequencies. For the optimization of the wave absorbing characteristics, the thickness and permittivities of the absorbing layers as well as the surface resistance of the resistant layer were determined using genetic algorithm. The data base of permittivities related to the density of the dielectric materials and loss materials was obtained by the experiments for the dielectric constants of the absorbing layers, furthermore, the results were numerically expressed and used for the optimization.

본 논문에서는 단위-셀 EM 시뮬레이션 기법을 통해 주파수 선택적 전파투과막(FSS: Frequency Selective Surface)을 갖는 AEM(Advanced Enclosed Mast) 레이돔을 설계하고, 16×16 배열안테나 방사 패턴 시험을 통해 레이돔의 성능을 검증하였다. 측정한 결과, 평면파 입사 조건을 가정한 시뮬레이션 결과와 원전계 및 근전계 조건에 레이돔을 두고 시험한 결과가 서로 잘 일치하는 결과를 확인하였다. 이 결과들을 통해 검증된 AEM형 FSS 레이돔을 활용하여 기존 마스트 대비 안테나의 RCS를 줄이는 것이 가능할 것이다. In this paper, we present a design of AEM radome with frequency selective surface using unit-cell EM simulation method and verified the performance of AEM radome by the radiation pattern measurements of 16×16 array-antenna. Measured results under near-field condition showed a good agreement with the simulation and far-field measured ones. And there were no radiation pattern variation between antenna only and antenna with AEM radome. From these results, we verified that AEM radome with frequency selective surface can be a solution to reduce the RCS of conventional mast and radar.

Although a lot of studies have covered the analysis of infinite FSS and a few have been devoted to the finite FSS, the studies regarding with the curved effects on the band-pass FSS radome rarely have been studied. In this paper, we studied curverd effects on FSS. Using previous studies for plat FSS, we analysed the characteristic of curved FSS.

This paper proposes for design system for monolayer FSS(Frequency Selective Surface) with various pattern. The proposed system derives optimal design parameters through theory of electromagnetic scattering on FSS, DB(Data Base) implemented from simulation data obtained from commercial tool for FSS analysis, and GA(Genetic Algorithm) for optimizing design parameters. Given characteristics specified by operators, the DB system searches the best matching FSS, and provides initial genes to GA from the searched parameters.
