The machine vision has been applied to a number of industrial applications for quality control and automations to improve the manufacturing processes. In this paper, the automation system using the machine vision is developed, which is applicable to the marking process in a steel production process line. The working environment is very harsh to workers so that the automatic system in the steel industry is required increasingly. The developed automatic marking system consists of several mechanical and electrical elements such as the laser position detecting sensor system for a structured laser beam which is projected to the billet in order to detect the geometry of the billet. An image processing algorithm has been developed to percept the two center positions of a camera and a billet, respectively, and to align two centers. A series of experiments has been conducted to investigate the performance of the proposed algorithm. The results show that two centers of the camera and the billet could be detected very well and differences between two center positions could be also decreased via the proposed location error decreasing algorithm.

Permanent magnetic gears are magneto-mechanical devices that are widely used to replace the ordinary mechanical gear and to transmit torque without the mechanical contact. This study investigates the characteristics of touch free permanent magnetic gear according to the employing systems. The effect of the magnetic torque is analyzed by using 3 dimensional Finite Element Method (FEM). To estimate the transmission torque of FEM model, the numerical results are compared with the experimental results. The influences of geometry size, magnet number on transmission torque are obtained. As results of this paper, it is confirmed that the transmission torque behavior is associated with the configuration of the magnet numbers and the air gap between the two permanent magnetic gears.

This study propose an Perception-Action Network (PAN) to estimate the vehicle pose parameters and control the vehicle motion for keeping the vehicle within given lane. The vehicle pose and the road curvature were calculated by geometrically fusing sensor data from camera image, tachometer and steering wheel encoder though the Perception Net, where not only the state variables, but also the corresponding uncertainties were propagated in forward and backward direction in such a way to satisfy the given constraint condition, maintain consistency, reduce the uncertainties, and guarantee robustness. The objective of the lane keeping control is to reduce a predicted tracking error of the vehicle, while the vehicle is traveling along the given lane. In this study, we calculated a required steering angle at the auction module of PAN. A series of experiments was conducted to evaluate the control performance, in which commercial software was utilized to quit unwanted safety problem.
새로운 전동식 동력 조향 장치(EPS-TT)의 성능 평가 및 제어방법 개발

A new column type electric power steering system (EPS-TT) is proposed in this study. The remarkable features of EPS-TT are its opto-isolated torque sensor and assist torque control methodology. EPS-TT uses a uni-directional motor and two clutches. Full order and simplified models for EPS-TT are developed to evaluate the EPS-TT. A full car model is also used to investigate the vehicle responses. A PID control logic is designed to control the torque of the assist motor. Various sinusoidal inputs are applied to the system and the resulting performances are analyzed.<br/> The results prove that the performances achieved by the EPS-TT are improved compared to those of a conventional EPS-TT across the frequency domain. In addition, it is inexpensive and easy to control the motor. The results of the full order steering system model are similar to those simplified model, but the vehicle responses are slightly different.<br/> <br/>

In this study, the proposed BSD system consists of multiple infrared LEDs which are cheap and robust to weather conditions. It is installed a housing of outside rear-view mirror system to detect other vehicles and objects of the rear left and right-side in the range of 15 to 45 degrees. The layout like as horizontal and vertical angle of emitter/detector, sensing distance and angle of each channel is determined by many simulations and experiments. To maximize the detection distance of infrared LED, the current of an emitter is driving at the modulated frequency which is mixed the carrier frequency with a center frequency of each channel. The detector removes the carrier frequency from measured signal and distinguishes the channel with center frequency. The performance of BSD system is evaluated with SIL simulation and practical field test. The SILS system consists of PreScan and Matlab/Simulink. PreScan yields a realistic driving environments and road conditions. Vehicle model dynamics and collision warning is controlled by Matlab/Simulink. The control and warning logic is intensively evaluated through blind spot warning test and lane change warning test of ISO 17387 standards. Also the developed BSD system is installed on a housing of outside rear-view mirror of vehicle and showed good detection results under various weather conditions.

The researches for autonomous vehicle have been implemented in many studies, but most studies were confined to the lane following and changing. This paper addresses a problem of autonomous lane following parking a nonholonomic vehicle. The algorithm for image processing by the hough transform and controlling a steering angle and speed to park a nonholonomic vehicle is developed. The developed system which integrated the control algorithm for parking and vision algorithm for line traction tested with RC car and verified by the performance of the detection of parking area and the reactive parking without collisions.<br/>

This paper presents Vehicle Dynamics Controller (VDC) design for a Hardware in the Loop Simulator (HILS). For the robust performance and dealing with nonlinearity and disturbance, sliding mode controller is applied. In addition, time varying switching surface is introduced to consider the trade-off between stability and controllability. The controller is designed by using the 2DOF vehicle model with nonlinear tire (Pacejka's Magic formula). The effect of time varying switching surface is proved by computer simulations of vehicle response to a several friction coefficient with step steering input as compared with time invariable switching surface. The paper explains the simulation results and the implications for the future work.
