이 논문은 여성과 남성의 주체 위치가 여성은 ‘성(sexual object)’으로 등치되고 남성은 성을 향유하는 성적 주체인 ‘인간’으로 등치되는 관념이 현대 한국사회에 여전히 팽배해 있고 이러한 관념이 여성의 사회적, 경제적, 정치적 위치를 남성의 위치에 비해 열등하게 유지될 수밖에 없도록 만들고 있다는 문제의식을 적극적으로 주장한다. 그리고 이러한 각 주체들의 관계성과 관계의 내용이 섹슈얼리티, 경제, 정치 등의 영역과 맞물려 상호유지, 상호강화되는 현재의 체제를 ‘성체제(system of sexuality)’라는 개념을 사용해 설명한다. 필자는 성별, 연령, 고용유무, 재산정도 등과 무관하게 무조건적으로 모두에게 일정한 금액을 정기적으로 평생 국가가 지급하는 현금급부제도를 일컫는 ‘기본소득’ 개념을 개괄적으로 소개한다. 그리고 기본소득이 모든 여성들의 경제력을 무조건적으로 일정하게 보편적으로 보장함으로써 여성이 남성중심적 결혼제도나 남성중심적 고용제도를 통해 경제력을 확보할 수밖에 없어 발생하는 남성과의 낮은 수준의 협상력을 높은 수준으로 확보할 수 있도록 하는 데에 의미 있는 기여를 할 것이라고 주장한다. 또한, 이로써 기본소득이 현재의 성체제의 근본적인 변화에 의미 있는 물꼬를 트는 역할을 할 수 있을 것이라 주장한다. This paper suggests that the ideological idea that equates women to sexual objects, not to sexual subjects, is still pervasive in South Korean culture. The author argues that this idea puts women in an inferior position to men in social, economic, and political spheres. Arguing for this idea’s deconstruction, the author introduces the term ‘system of sexuality’. This highlights the key feature of the current system, in which relationships between women and men are deeply intertwined with and sustained by sexuality, economics and politics. Basic income implies unconditional cash payment to every individual regardless of gender, age, marital status, employment status or wealth. Negotiation power in relationships partially but significantly depends on one’s degree of economic independence. Women’s economic status, nevertheless, has been heavily weakened due to the heterosexual male-oriented economic system as well as the marriage system. Basic income which guarantees each and every woman a certain level of income will offer a meaningful contribution to enhance women’s negotiation power within the current system of sexuality.

이 글은 여성의 성적 주체성 실현의 문제에서 소득이 갖는 중요성에 대해 검토하고 소득 보장 문제, 특히, 기본소득 보장이 여성의 성적 주체성 실현을 위해 왜 중요하게 검토되어야 하는지를 살펴본다. 이를 위해 우선, 소득과 여성에 대한 선행논문을 살펴보고, 이어 지금까지의 페미니스트 기본소득 논의를 몇 가지 문제제기와 함께 검토하였다. 필자는 지금까지의 페미니스트 기본소득 논의가 주로 고용과 노동, 특히, 성별노동분업을 중심으로 이뤄져 왔고 여기에는 기혼/이성애 중심성이 작동하고 있다고 지적한다. 필자는 페미니스트 기본소득 논의가 이를 넘어 페미니즘이 주요하게 다뤄왔던 또 하나의 중요한 영역인 섹슈얼리티 문제를 포괄할 수 있도록 논의의 틀을 확장시킬 것을 제안하며 그러한 기본소득 논지의 예로서 주요 페미니스트 기본소득 논자인 캐롤 페이트만과 낸시 프레이저의 논의를 소개한다. In this article, I examine the importance of income in realization of women’s sexual subjectivity and argue that basic income will play an important role in regard to that matter. For this, I look at the preceding paper on women and income, followed by feminist discussion of basic income. In so doing, I point out that feminist discussion of basic income has been dominantly focusing on its potential effect on gendered division of labor in general, domestic and care work in particular. I argue that there is a hetero-centrisim embedded in it and propose to include the issue of sexuality in general, with women’s sexual subjectivity in particular, in order to extend the framework of analysis of the effects of basic income. For that, I introduce the proposal and the analysis of Carole Pateman and Nancy Fraser in regard to basic income and women.

Most of research on the issue of identity in Malaysia has been focused either on conflict among diverse ethnic groups or on contestation between ethnic identity and national identity. However, people in Malaysia do not only come into conflict with each other but learn to coexist with people of difference. Daily practice of coexisting is to be understood as a daily strategy of coexistence or practice of ‘negotiative identity’. Such practice is actually what has made Malaysia as it is now and it, I argue, deserves much more attention by researchers. While the term ‘negotiative identity’ can be also explained in the similar perspective of constructionist perspective of identity, it yes has its distinctive aspect: while constructionist perspective on identity focuses on how identity is constructed and reconstructed, ‘negotiative identity’ perspective focuses not only on the identification process of individual but only on agency of individual to reconstruct group’s identity.
