A series of consolidated undrained triaxial tests for compacted short fiber reinforced clay were performed to increase the field applications, e.g. retaining wall, waste landfill, soft ground etc. of soil admixtures mixed with short fiber. Kaolin clay and three types of fiber were selected. To acquire reliable length of fibers, an auto cutter was used and a helical mixer was also used to avoid floating of fibers during mixing soil and fibers. It is found that reinforcing effect by aspect ratio and mixing ratio of short fiber decreases as confining pressure is increased. Reinforcing effect has a maximum value at the aspect ratio of 120 and the fiber content of 0.6%∼1.2% and low confining pressure like 50kPa.

To analyze the effect of temperature on pavement types of dedicated lane, we have performed a temperature monitoring for pavements which were constructed in test track for Bimodal Tram. These pavements classified into four types natural and artificial lawn, concrete and asphalt. Dedicated lane composed of natural and artificial lawn has a complex structure with concrete slab in contact surface of tires, and with 1m natural or artificial lawn in the middle part of lane. From monitoring results for pavements, dedicated lane with natural lawn shows lower temperature value compared with other dedicated lanes, and it is expected to decrease the heat island effect of conventional road if constructed.

최근 대중교통의 편리성 확보 및 육로/수로에의 범용적 이용, 그리고 교통시설 개발비용 절감등을 목적으로 트리모달 복합교통시스템이 해외에서는 주목을 받고 있다. 트리모달 복합교통시스템이란 기존의 바이모달 트램을 수로까지 확장하여 운행하는 교통시스템으로, “철도”, “도로”, “수로” 3 가지 모드의 특징을 가진다. 이러한 시스템은 교량 등의 시설 설치없이 수로를 이동할 수 있어 교통시설 개발 및 유지비용을 절감할 수 있으며, 이동경로의 다양화로 교통체증 절감 및 이동시간 단축을 기대할 수 있다. 특히 육상교통에 소외된 연안 및 도서지역 주민들은 교량건설을 통한 막대한 인프라 구축이 이루어지지 않을 경우 선박을 이용한 제한된 이동권만 가지기 때문에 승하차에 따른 환승불편이 지속적으로 이루어지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 해외의 트리모달 복합교통시스템 개발현황을 살펴보고, 향후 국내 적용시 필요한 기술 및 제도, 그리고 관련 효과를 검토해 보고자 한다. Because of ease accessibility and general use in land/waterways, and transportation facility development costs, Tri-modal transportation system in overseas attracts attention. Conventional Bimodal tram’s concept extends to Tri-modal transportation system, which has characteristics of three modes, “railroad”, “road”, “waterway”. As this system can move without the installation of facilities such as bridges, the cost of development and maintenance of transportation facilities and traffic congestion can be reduced, and cut in time by the diversification of moving path can be expected. Especially, residents of coastal or island areas have a limited mobility right and have the discomfort of transfer because they can use only the ship if they will move to anywhere. In this study, we see the overseas development condition for Tri-modal transportation system and also review the technologies and regulations required when applying for the country and related effects.

The model using homogenization technique based on energy concept for the prediction of the failure criterion of staple fiber mixed soil was developed to increase the practice and the application of staple fiber as a reinforcement for improving soft ground. Parameters of the model are aspect ratio and volumetric content of fiber, cohesion and internal friction angle of soil, adhesion intercept and interface friction angle of soil and fiber. It is considered that the model developed in this study is applicable to the soil composed of clay, silt and sand mixed by thread types of fiber such as steel bar, steel fiber, natural fiber etc.

Regional torrential rains in summer this year due to abnormal climate changes compared to last year have been frequent. Since Typhoon Rusa and Typhoon Maemi resulted in major damage to railroad facilities in 2002 and 2003 consecutively problems with abnormal climate changes became a global problem including railroad and floods and droughts around the globe heavy snow and winter warming have been repeated until now. Serious problem of radiation leakage in Fukushima nuclear power plant by the Tsunami due to 9.0-scale earthquake this year in March in northeastern Japan happened and has given an impact on the life of Japanese citizens and industries and has also influenced on Korean. This shows how important to secure and to protect major national facilities including railroad structures to natural disasters such as earthquake. Therefore we will briefly discuss about technologies for securing and protecting railroad structures to earthquakes floods and other natural disasters.

Triaxial compression tests were run to study on the undrained strength characteristics of fiber mixed kaolin clay(Hadong). The influence of various test parameters such as amount and aspect ratio(ratio of length to diameter) of fiber, confining stress was also investigated. Test results showed that the increase in aspect ratio was increased in deviator stress at failure, but no effect on pore water pressure at failure. Deviator stress at failure was also increased at 0.5% mixing ratio(weight fraction of fiber to that of soil solid) of fiber but it was, thereafter, decreased and wits reached to constant after 2% mixing ratio. On the contrary, Pore water pressure at failure was increased as mixing ratio of fiber was greater than 1%. Deviator stress and pore water pressure of both clay and fiber mixed clay(FMC) at failure were increased as confining stress was increased. Deviator stress of FMC at failure was about 10% larger than that of clay, but pore water pressure of FMC at failure was almost similar to that of clay.

바이모달 트램 기반시설물은 전용선로, 전용교량, 연결로 및 교차로(입체교차로, 평면교차로), 전용정거장, 환승시설, 통합운영관리시스템, 요금지불시스템 등 바이모달 트램 시스템을 구성하는 물리적 시설을 의미하며, 그 중 전용선로는 바이모달 트램 시스템의 교통로 계획단계에서부터 오직 바이모달 트램 차량의 운행만을 목적으로 하여 다른 교통수단의 통행을 제한하도록 건설되고, 또한 자기인식 안내방식이 설치되어 자동운전이 가능한 궤도 또는 주행로를 의미한다. 본 연구에서는 바이모달 트램 전용선로 설계에 있어 바이모달 트램 차량의 운행 및 운전 조건에 맞는 전용선로의 설치, 그리고 주행로의 기하구조 설계 제원, 평면선형 또는 종단선형 등 서비스 기준과 설계속도 특성에 맞는 전용선로의 기하구조에 관해 검토되었다. Infrastructure based on bimodal tram means the physical facilities which are composed of dedicated lanes, dedicated bridges, intersections(cloverleaf, flat-intersection), stations, transit facilities, integrated operations management system, fare payment system. Dedicated lane of this infrastructure is constructed to restrict the passage of other means of transportation from the planning stage, only for operation of bimodal tram and also means the track or roadway which is furnished with magnetic bar as a guide for automatic driving. In this study, the installation of dedicated lane to meet the operating conditions, the geometry and design specifications of dedicated lane including the geometric structure of dedicated lane according to the design speed of bimodal tram, and service standards in horizontal alignment or in vertical alignment are reviewed.
