Measurement methods in order to measure the mechanical properties nondestructively have been studied. The mechanical properties of the structural and turbine rotor steels are related with their magnetic properties. If the magnetic properties of the cold rolled carbon steel sheet (CR) for a car are measured nondestructively, its mechanical properties are analogized by their magnetic properties. And then the mechanical properties are monitored on-line by measuring the magnetic properties. We prepared three CR materials, CBQ 3060, CBQ 3041, and CBQ 3036, were prepared in order to measure their mechanical and magnetic properties. The Vickers hardness, yield strength, and tensile strength were measured by ASTM E 8M, and the reversible magnetic permeability was measured by the surface type probe. The coercivity calculated by the peak interval of reversible magnetic permeability increased linearly with the increase of Vickers hardness, yield strength, and tensile strength. The amplitude of the peak interval of reversible magnetic permeability drastically decreased when the lift-off was increased.

Air Starter motors are used for the start of medium-speed diesel engine. One of the main part of air starting motors is the axial turbine stage. In this study, design of 1-stage axial type turbine for 14㎾ class air starter motors has been performed. The turbine blade was designed based on mean-line analysis. 1-D design calculation and numerical analysis with CFD were conducted iteratively. The validation between 1-D design method and numerical analysis for axial clearance has been performed. It revealed that there is optimum axial clearance of turbine design.
비정질 리본의 ΔE 특성을 이용한 선형 자기센서에 관한 연구

The width dependence of Delta E has been studied by impedance resonance method in Fe-rich amorphous ribbon of as received state. It can be explained by single domain model include effective magnetic field H<SUB>eff</SUB> and demagnetization factor N<SUB>d</SUB>. Wider width ribbon’s effective is smaller than narrow it. Young’s modulus also smaller than narrow width. These result well agreement in calculation. It has been also studied that linear magnetic field sensor using width dependence of Delta E under the field range 0 Oe~80 Oe. The sensitivity of the sensor was found to be 95 Hz/Oe.
