The purpose of this study was to explore the situations of farm stay and visit`s perceptions in rural Korea. The data were collected by questionnaire and case study, and obtained from 104 visitors, 104 host farmers, 104 village people in twenty two rural villages from September 20, 2002 to November 21, 2002 and analyzed by SPSS WIN 10. The statistical method was crosstabulation and chi-square. The major findings of this study were as follows; First, the priorities of government policy for farm stay were to build the physical infrastructure such as village road and parking lot, to help farmers make relations with urban people, and to provide the learning opportunities for their business. Second, the main barriers for farm stay were the deficit for improving their facilities. And the income within their farm stay has been low at government policy village. Third, most of host farmers liked to make relations with their village people. The priorities of their relations were to improve natural and social environment of their villages, to develop the special brands, and to manage village tourism programs.

Service quality in local festivals is a crucial for visitors satisfaction. The study aims to identify the factors to in fluence visitors satisfaction in local festival. A field survey was used to collect data from 206 visitors to the Yesan Apple Festival in South Korea. The results showed that the program and products, staff, and landscape factors could significantly has a significant on visitors’ overall satisfaction, whereas facility factor don not influence significantly. The study suggested that festival managers should allocate their marketing resources for the program and products, staff, and landscape factors to increase the visitors’ perception of service quality. This study encourages festival managers to provide high level of festival quality to consider extension effects of the festival experiences from long-term perspectives.

농업연구와 지도의 연계는 농업인의 역량을 증진시키는데 있어서 매우 중요하다. 이 연구의 목적은 농업연구지도 분야의 핵심 담당자를 대상으로 면접을 통하여 가족농 육성을 위한 농업연구와 지도의 연계에 관한 방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 농촌지도의 방법, 내용 그리고 농촌연구의 내용 등과 관련한 현안들이 인터뷰를 통해 양적, 질적 자료를 수집하였다. 파라과이 농업기술전파의 구조적 문제점은 기술지원서비스, 신용 서비스, 농가 계획과 기본 인프라의 부족 등이었다. 더욱이 요구되는 농촌지도내용은 유기농업, 토양관리와 보전, 농업신용, 조직역량강화, 마케팅, 참여연구, 기술이전 장비와 인프라, 농업기계화였다. The linkages between agricultural research and extension are important to enhance farmers’ competence. The objectives of the study were to explore the linkage between research and extension for the family farm. Data including quantitative and qualitative were obtained from the key actors about the public management regarding linkage which were the method, the topic of the agricultural technology dissemination, and the agricultural research topics. Results show that the main structural problems of the agricultural technology dissemination were technical support services, credit services, and farm planning and infrastructure deficit. Furthermore, as for the topics or content of agricultural technology dissemination, organic agriculture, soil management and conservation, agricultural credit, organizational strengthening, marketing, participatory research, dissemination of technology, equipment, infrastructure and agricultural mechanization were preferred.

Sense of com m unity and length of residence are im portant variables influencing com m unity participation. The study aim s to identify the factors influencing com m unity participation on sense of com m unity. Particularly, the study exam -ine the m oderating effects on the length of residency betw een sense of com m unity and com m unity participation. Data were collected from 130 usable questionnaires am ong residents of rural villages. Results of a factor analysis yielded three dim ensions of sense of com m unity w hich are solidarity, belonging, and em otional intim acy. Results show that all of factors am ong three dim ensions of sense of com m unity have significance for com m unity participation. And length of residency has a positive effects as a m oderator betw een com m unity capacity and com m unity satisfaction. Results also indicated that length of residence has an negative interactional effects w ith m oderator. It m eans that even though higher belonging, less com m unity participation if people live in longer their com m unity. It was suggested that sense of com m unity and length of residency should be considered in rural com m unity developm ent policy.

The object of this paper is to analyze urban residents' tourism behavior on rural tourism. The data was collected from 2000 urban residents in seven metropolitan cities in Korea. The result show that 18.45% of urban resident have experienced rural tourism. Most of urban resident that have experienced was satisfied on it. Escaping from daily life was proven as the most important motive on rural tourism. The most preferred region by urban residents for the last a year was Gyeongsangbuk-do, and spring was the most preferred season to travel. Most preferred accommodation was acquaintance's house. 10.9% of the urban resident have experienced attending a program, and 40.1% purchased agricultural specialty product. The average expenditure per rural tourist including traffic fee was 74,449 won, and average eating expenditure was greater than experiencing program expenditure. These result indicate that there is a lot of potential demand for rural tourism.

Food is one of the essential elements of the tourist experiences. The study aims to segment food tourists for benefit sought. This study attempted to segment tourists who had experienced local food at tourist destinations by their benefit sought to meet local food. A self-administered survey was obtained from 498 visitors in the study areas. Results from the factor analysis show that the most explained variances of benefit sought were food taste (17.2%) and refresh (12.9%). Five distinct segments were identified based on the benefits; family seeker (17.6%), passive seeker (15.1%), want-it-all seeker (23.1%), raw material seeker (31.8%), gastronomic seeker (12.4%). In addition, a significant difference in the characteristics of tourists who had tasted local food at tourist destinations was observed in terms of occupation, income, education, expenditure for food, and tour distance. Implications are discussed relative to marketing strategies.
