The effects of homogenization, hot-forging, and annealing condition on microstwcture and hardness of a modified STD61 hot-work tool steel were investigated. The ingot specimen had a dendritic structure consisting of bainite and martensite. Spherical VC particles of approximately 50 nm and cuboidal (V, TI)C particles of about 100 nm were observed in the ingot specimen. After homogenization, the dendritic structure was blurred, and the difference in hardness between martensite and bainite became narrow, resulting in the more homogeneous microstructure. Needle-shaped non-equilibrium (Fe, Cr)3C particles were additionally observed in the homogenized specimen. The hot-forged specimen had bainite single phase with spherical VC, cuboidal (V, Ti)C, and needle-shaped (Fe, Cr)3C particles. After annealing at 860°C, the microstructures of specimens were ferrite single phase with various carbides such as VC, (Fe, Cr) 7C3, and (Fe, Cr)23C6 because of relatively slow cooling rates. The size of carbides in annealed specimens decreased with increasing cooling rate, resulting in the increase of hardness.

A numerical investigation is made of thermal control of a hot plate device specially designed for thermal nanoimprint lithography. The technical requirements for this hot plate are rapid heating capability and high temperature uniformity together with strength against high stamping pressure. In order to satisfy these requirements, design of precise thermal control scheme is essential. In this study, a numerical experiment is conducted to simulate unsteady thermal behaviour of hot plate under control. This article introduce the possibility and reality of the thermal control on the hot plate using a CFD code. Heat pipes is used to ensure high temperature uniformity. Parallel Numerical computations are conducted for assessing the feasibility of the hot plate(240×240㎟) equipped with a series of parallel cartridge heaters and heat pipes. The optimal thermal design is attempted numerically.

A hot plate device has been designed as a thermal treatment tool for the press-type hot embossing machine which copies the nanopatterns on stamp to polymer substrate. Design goal is to achieve the performance of rapid heating and cooling as well as high temperature uniformity and the strength to endure high stamping pressure. Analysis of design requirements leads to a new hot plate configuration having cooling holes and catridge heaters which are straight and arranged in parallel for extensibility toward large area. Numerical computations have been conducted for assessing the feasibility of the proposed design cencept and for determining the optimal distribution of heating and cooling elements. The numerical results and raised issues are scrutinized in view of accomplishment of rapid heating and cooling together with high temperature uniformity.

A subtidal marine benthic algal vegetation at Ulleungdo Island, the eastern coast of Korea was investigated to clarify the community structure and vertical distribution by quadrat method at seven stations in May and August 2014. The total number of marine algal species was 148 species composed of the green algae of 12 species, the brown algae of 40 species and the red algae of 96 species. Mean biomass in dry weight was 94.8 g dry weight m<SUP>-2</SUP> in study sites, 98.1 g dry weight m<SUP>-2</SUP> in upper tidal level, and 86.6 g dry weight m-2 in middle level. The R/P and (R+C)/P value reflecting flora characteristic were 1.9 and 2.3, respectively. Three groups produced by cluster analysis, one including sites Neunggeol, Daepung, Jukdo, second including sites Gongam, Ssangjeongcho and the other including sites Gwaneum, Hangnam, showed meaningful difference in similarity (about 40%), each other. The number of marine algal species and biomass in Ulleungdo Island area were markedly reduced comparing that in the previous studies. This result may suggest probably change of algal vegetation in future, considering the physical and chemical pollutions loaded in the coastal marine environment of this area.

This paper provides how to solve the problems analytically and experimentally that occur for testing the water injection pump under development. First of all, water injection pump, based on shaft system dynamic analysis, is verified by measuring the behavior of the shaft system. After the water injection pump is measured, the structural resonances which can cause excessive noise, degradation the equipment life and malfunction are found. Therefore, by changing the structural design, the resonance should be avoided. Application of the design variables to the experimentally resonance avoidance is difficult. So analytically, with application of the design variables, the design will be changed with mode analysis using FEM.
