This paper in a study of surface roughness by surface grinding conditions; as fallows. 1) The grinding wheel was used WA60JMV and wheel speed was 1800 r. p. m. 2) Work specds were 7.5m/min, 10m/min, 12.5m/min, 15m/min, 17.5m/min, 20m/min, 22.5m/min. 3) Depth settings were 0.005㎜, 0.0075㎜, 0.01㎜, 0.0125㎜. The best surface roughness was obtained when work speed is 22.5m/min and depth setting is 0.005㎜.

An experimental study was conducted for the frictional welding with carbon steel as working material. Pressure, spindle speed, preheating time and upset time were fixed while heating time was varied. Follows are the test results. 1. Tensile strength decreased rapidly if upset length is more than 3.5㎜ for the firctional welding between low carbon steel and medium carbon steel. 2. Frictional welding between same medium carbon steel was impossible for the heating time of 0.5 second and 1.0 second. 3. Hardness decreased in the region of 1.0-3.0㎜ measured from the weld interface and medium carbon steel showed reliably wide band of high hardness H.A.Z value than low carbon steel.

It is purpose of this paper to know temperature at cutting tool, surface roughness and shapes of chip in turning of low carbon steel with a groove type chip breaker bite. Various research to reduce weight of a car is achieving. This research is tendencious to manufacture solid piston rod of shock absorber as hollow piston rod using friction welding. This study deals with the friction welding of SM45C to SM45C-Pipe that is used in car shock absorber, The friction time was variable conditions under the conditions of spindle revolution of 2,000rpm, friction pressure of 55MPa, upset pressure of 75MPa, and upset time of 2.0seconds. Under these conditions, the microstructure of weld interface, tensile fracture surface and mechanical tests were studied of friction weld, and so the results were as follows. 1. In tensile strength, the hole processing is better than non-hole processing. 2. When the friction time was 1.5seconds under the conditions, the maximum tensile strength of the friction weld happened to be 869MPa, which is 103% of SM45C's tensile strength and 91% of SM45C's Pipe. 3. When the friction time was 2.0seconds under the conditions, the maximum bending strength of the friction weld happened to be 1599MPa, which is 80% of SM45C's bending strength and 118% of SM45C's Pipe.

The present study examined the mechanical properties of the friction welding of shaft made of SKH51 and SM45C, of which the diameter is 12mm. Friction welding was done at welding conditions of 2,000rpm, friction pressure of 104MPa, upset pressure of 134MPa, friction time of 0.5sec to 2.5sec by increasing 0.5sec, upset time of 2 seconds. Under these conditions, a tensile test, a bending test, a shear test, a hardness test and a microstructure of weld interface were studied. When the friction time was 1.0 second under the conditions, the maximum tensile strength of the friction weld observed to be 963MPa, which is 89% the tensile strength of SKH51 base metal and 101% of the tensile strength of SM45C base metal. When the friction time was 1.0 seconds under the conditions, the maximum bending strength of the friction weld happened to be 1,647MPa, which is 78% the bending strength of SKH51 base metal(2,113MPa) and 87% of the bending strength of SM45C base metal(1,889MPa). When the friction time was 1.0 seconds under conditions, the maximum shear strength of the friction weld was observed to be 755MPa, which is 92% the shear strength of SKH51 base metal and 122% of the shear strength of SM45C base metal. According to the hardness test, the hardness distribution of the weld interface varied from Hv282 to Hv327. HAZ was formed from the weld interface to 1.2mm of SKH51 and 1.6mm of SM45C. Upon examination it was found that the microstructure became finer along with increase of friction revolution radius.

The friction welding was conducted to machine structural carbon steel(SM20C) having dissimilar diameter. One had diameter of 20㎜(d₁) and the other had diameter of 14-28㎜(d₂). The friction welding conditions used was friction pressure 60㎫, friction time 3.0sec, upset pressure 60㎫, spindle revolution 2000rpm. The tensile strength and bending strength of the friction weld in all combination having dissimilar diameter were higher than those in combination having similar diameter(d₁ = d₂ = 20㎜). And the microstructure of weld interface in combination having dissimilar diameter was finer than that in combination having similar diameter.

This study is to evaluate the tool life of portable beveler which have various cooling system. It was compared with 3 different bevelers which has each other cooling system. Beveler A has no cooling system, beveler B has the cooling system for only inside of body, and beveler C has the cooling system for both the cutter and inside of body. The temperature of beveler A cutter surface had been continuously increasing as processing, but the rising tendency of temperature of beveler B cutter surface has slightly changed. In case of beveler C, the temperature is maintained. The tool life of beveler C is about 105m which is around 400% of beveler A(25m), and around 130% of beveler B(80m).
쵸듀랄루민-탄소강 마찰용접부의 기계적 성질에 관한 연구

This study was investigated on mechanical properties of super duralumin and carbon steel in the friction welding used insert metals. The tensile test, bending test, shearing test and hardness test of welded joints were investigated through this experiment. When aluminium alloy A6351-T4 was used as insert metal. The mechanical properties of friction welds became better than that of direct friction welding. Optimal welding conditions were n=2,000rpm. P₁=40㎫, P₂=140㎫, t₁=1.5sec and t₂=5sec.

Various researches to reduce weight of a vehicle are achieving. One of these researches is tendencious to manufacture the hollow piston rod using friction welding instead of solid one of the vehicle shock absorber. This study deals with the friction welding of SM45C to SM20C-pipe that is used normally in the vehicle shock absorber. The friction time was variable conditions under the conditions of spindle revolution of 2,000rpm, friction pressure of 55㎫, upset pressure of 75㎫, and upset time of 2.0seconds. Under these conditions, the microstructure of weld interface, tensile fracture surface and mechanical tests of friction weld were studied and so the results were as follows. When the friction time was l.5seconds under the conditions, the maximum tensile strength of the friction weld happened to be 837㎫, which is 113% of SM20C's tensile strength and 97% of SM45C's. The optimal welding conditions were n=2,000rpm, P₁=55㎫, P₂=75㎫, t₂=1.5sec, t₂=2.0sec when the total upset length is 1.7㎜.

This study investigates the properties as the difference friction welding area on SM25C steel rod. The tensile and bending strength and of welded joints, the hardness distribution of welds, the microstructure of welds and the tensile fracture surfaces were mainly investigated through this experiment. The fixed friction welding conditions were revolution 2000rpm, friction pressure 70㎫, friction time 1.5sec, upset pressure 100㎫, upset time 2.0sec, upset length 2.8㎜ and changeable friction welding parameter was friction welding area.
