Eugenia Barba is both a theorist of the drama and a producer who tried to determine scientifically an organic action by emphasizing the physical body as biological organism rather than the psychological aspects of a player, unlike many of the drama theorists who have discussed acting. He invented a 'new theatrical language' by upholding the mental and physical fundamentals of the acting Grotowski had studied. His theatrical language contains theoretical valuers and significance in that it transforms our feelings common to all human beings, whether to be Oriental or Western, such as joy, anger, grief, and pleasure into a purest state through motions based on a primitive instinct, use of a mimetic word and mask. His study of fundamentals of emotional communication led to the establishment of ISTA, or International School of Theatre Anthropology, an another form of experimental drama laboratory ISTA attempted to add the Oriental traditions to the Western patterns through the analysis of the performance based on the two cultures. Barba founded Ordin Theatre, along with those aspiring to a drama career who failed to pass an audience, was designed to allow players to find out their own acting styles based on their own sense of rhythm, rather than relying on views which regarded the essentials of a player as 'theatrical presence' and pursued an art of acting. Meanwhile ISTA emphasized the practical aspects of a drama, and offered an opportunity to those Oriental players, mimers, drama scientists so that they met all together to exchange views and to perform acting. In our country a player is expected to perform acting and training based on realism in order to discern a possibility as a player. Dramatic experts tend to think that they have a possibility of being successful as a player, if they find such characteristics based on realistic acting in a beginner, though their techniques are rather poor due to lack of experience. Also they tend to think highly of them, if a player might become a totally different person on the stage, attracting the attention, from their usual beings. Barba thought such part of a player implying a potential to be the essentials of a player, and tried to achieve them by training. Such an attempt by Barba gives hope to those who are in the depths of despair thinking themselves lacking talent. Barba established a science of theatre anthropology based on his study attempting to define art that is invisible and bidden. In short, his theatrical theory, or a theory of acting may be defined as a study results based on theatre anthropology. Barba interprets that a player is someone who practices to find out principles of learning an art of acting based on instinct or experience, rather than someone seeking knowledge by learning facts and rules. It may therefore be informative to take a close look at those Barba accomplished in order to find out a variety of methods of acting by getting rid of the current fixed practices for acting patterns
