Fouling causes serious maintenance problems on heat exchanger tubes and process facilities. To avoid such fouling problems, numerous efforts have been tried, e.g., diagnosis of fouling, reducing and eliminating the fouling, etc.. The objective of the present study is to develop an innovative diagnostic system of fouling, which can detect the scaling attached to the wall non-homogeneously. The performance of the diagnostic system has been evaluated with a scaling simulator that generates scaling on tested tube wall. The measured values with the diagnostic system were compared with the amounts of the scaling generated by the simulator.

Recently various information suppliers provide information via WWW, and the necessity of search engine grows larger. However the efficiency of most search engines is low comparatively because of using simple pattern match technique between user's query and web document. And manifest contents to query for special expert field are much worse. A specialized search engine returns the specialized information to meet each user's search goal. It is a recent trend to develop specialized search engines in many countries. For example, in America, there are sites that search only the updated headline news and the federal law and the government and so on. However, most of them don't satisfy the user's needs. This paper proposes the specialized search engine for ocean information that uses user's query related with ocean and the association rules in web data mining. So the specialized search engine for ocean provides more information related to ocean because of raising recall about user's query.
선박 기관실 실시간 모니터링 시스템의 HMI 구현에 관한 연구

In this paper, the design and implementation of HMI for a real-time monitoring system of ship engine room is presented. The monitoring system gets sensor data of real-time from distributed local units after processing data, displays at CRT and saves in the database. The proposed system consists of four modules, the data management module, the alarm management module, the user interaction module, and the display module. The data management module transfers raw data from a device to engineering data. The alarm management module checks the alarm status of data received from local units. If the alarm occurs, data are displayed at CRT and saved at database.

This paper presents the design and implementation of a diagnosis system incorporating with a monitoring system. We classified the ship engine into the sub parts as similarly a experts classification method, acquired the causal relation between measuring data and fault states in consultation with experts, constructed a rule-base using them, and adopted a certainty-factor method in order to handle uncertanties of evidences and rules. When alarms occur, the system infers diagnostic conclusion by using certainty factor obtained from an alarm state (one of 4 levels) and an alarm datum's trend (one of 3 levels), and the certainty factor of a related rule (one of 3 levels).

This paper presents the diagnostic method of an integration system where both diagnosis system and monitoring system are combined. Knowledge base for ship engine fault diagnosis is implemented using hybrid knowledge representation technique by EE(Element Expert) shell, and using a certainty-factor method to handle uncertainties of evidences and rules. Whenever alarm occurs, the monitoring system sends alarm data to the diagnosis system. At the same time, the diagnosis system converts alarm data type to diagnosis data type, verifies alarm data, and calculates data's trend. To map alarm data to evidences of knowledge base, the diagnosis system uses two databases. The real-time diagnosis results are provided by a reasoning mechanism implemented using visual C++ for driving OLE automation server of EE shell.

Generally, the main difficulty in the composition of tank-level control system may be in the point that plant parameters are severely varied according to the change of operating point. In order to cope with this difficulty, in this paper, an adaptive control is employed using model-following technique based on the optimal control law. Through the simulations and experiments the following results were observed. 1) The steady state error was not founded under the parameter variations caused by the change of operating point. 2) In spite of the change of operating point, the corresponding gains which were stored in the computer were found to be automatically updated so that the controller could have the adaptive ability. And also, the control specifications in view of transient response were found to be satisfied.
하이브리드 지식표현을 이용한 선박엔진 고장진단시스템의 개발에 관한 연구

This paper presents the design and implementation of ship engine diagnosis system using hybrid knowledge representation method and certainty-factor rule-base. The Monitoring system of ship engine room gets measuring data in real-time from distributed local units, processes, displays an CRT and saves them in the database. The alarm management function checks the alarm state of the monitoring data. If the alarm occurs, it displays on CRT and saves at database. This ship engine diagnosis system uses this monitoring data and alarm data to diagnosis data. The knowledge representation is used object-oriented knowledge representation method. The diagnosis data and abnormal states are represented each objects and abstracted class of diagnosis data and class of abnormal state. We use object-oriented concepts that are abject hierarchical structure, inheritance, method, pattern matching etc. then we can construct knowledge-base effectively. We use certainty-factor method for handling uncertainties of evidence and rule. The certainty-factor rule-base is developed using pattern matching and method that is attached at each abnormal state objects.
적응퍼지제어기를 이용한 스테빌라이저 시스템의 자세제어에 관한 연구

The stabilizer system compensates the tracking system for the vertical, horizontal and directional deviations between the tracking system and reference frame. This stabilizer system can be applied to a satellite antenna on ships, a sun tracking system on moving vehicles, and a camera servo control loop to take a stable image against the vibration. In this paper, a stabilizer system using an active stabilization method is composed. An adaptive fuzzy controller is also suggested, which is applicable to systems with structural and parameter uncertainty. It is the 2nd/1st-type adaptive fuzzy control algorithm using advantages of 1st-type and 2nd-type adaptive fuzzy algorithm. Several simulations are executed for verifying the performance of the suggested method. Through experiments using a composed stabilizer system, tracking performances are evaluated.
