This paper describes the effect of siliceous coating on water permeability and pore volume of mortar substrate. Coefficient of permeability and pore volume were measured for evaluation of watertightness of the.. Coefficient of permeability and pore volume of coated mortar were obviously less than those of non-coated one. Effect of siliceous coating reached the inside 5 to 10mm of coated morta. Reduction of pore volume was caused by the decrease of capillary pores within the size range 0.1 to 1/μm. Relationship of them can be described by the equation y=3.25×10?x??, where y is coefficient of permeability and x is pore volume.

It was happened to the water leakege trouble at the box culvert structures of many subways made by open-cut construction method in urban. For the development of the safety and durability of the box culvert structures, the investigation of structural and waterproofing design about that was claimed. Now, the problems were found about that the adhesion type asphalt membrane waterproofing construction method was designed to carry out in the underground damping environment, and the leveling concrete under the box culvert structure and the concrete guard wall for the settlement of membrane waterproofing material were designed to place non-reinforced concrete. We proposed the new designs for the structural and waterproofing design of the box culvert structure. That is, the adhesion type asphalt membrane waterproofing material needs to change to the liquid-applied membrane one, and leveling concrete and guard wall must change to reinforced concrete.
