In autonomous vehicles, lidar and camera are used for object recognition. Because cameras are difficult to recognize at night, there is a lot of research on object recognition using lidar. Generally, it uses high channel lidar for object recognition, but it uses low channel lidar because it is expensive and difficult to use. Object recognition methods using low channel lidar are usually converted to 2D images. However, in the top-view method, the object recognition rate is low due to the low density, and the polar-view method has a disadvantage in that the recognition rate decreases in a complex environment such as a background and a building behind the object. To solve this problem, we propose an object recognition method that uses lidar data directly. First, the convolution is performed for each channel of Lidar data, and then the lidar data is integrated again. Then, a second convolution is performed using the height data. Finally, find the object in the detection network.

Fire accident in tunnel is one of the most critical railway accidents, together with overturning of train by derailment and train crash. Tunnel structures contribute to minimize the cost and time of transport, but in case of railway fire accident occurring bring serious damages of human life caused by narrowness of shelter, poisonous smoke and high temperature raised at the inside of tunnel. For that reason, at the beginning of plan of tunnel, the optimum design for rescue of passengers is needed. For the detail and most suitable design for rescue of passengers, many tunnel designer substituted simulation program for mock examination by its high cost and effort. In this study, simulation program techniques, such as Fluent and Simulex, are applied for verifying the rescue design of passengers reduced the risk when fire accident occurred at tunnel utilizing of case study for planned railway tunnels shows 1,245m length in Iksan-Sili area.

The selection of the support system is an important design parameter in design and construction of the tunnel using the new Australian tunnel method. It is a common practice to select the support based on the rock mass grade, in which the rock mass is classified into five rock groups. The method is applicable if the characteristics of the rock mass are uniform in the direction of tunnel excavation. However, such case is seldom encountered in practice and not applicable when the properties vary along the longitudinal direction. This study performs comprehensive three dimensional finite difference analyses to investigate the ground deformation pattern for cases in which the rock mass properties change in the direction of the tunnel axis. The numerically calculated displacements at the tunnel crown show that the displacement is highly dependent on the stiffness contrast of the rock masses. The results strongly indicate the need to select the support type 0.5~1.0D before the rock mass boundary. The paper proposes a new guideline for selecting the support type based the results of the analyses.

The connector inspection machine is the AOI equipment used to detect defective connectors. We developed the 4-side connector inspection machine that can acquire images from four sides simultaneously using a single camera and four mirrors. The volume size should be measured to detect the abnormal molding defect. However, the inspection machine can acquire only a 2D image of each side of the connector. To measure the volume, we reconstructed 3D images from 2D images of four sides. The epipolar geometry and homography were used to improve the accuracy of the matching between other side images. The experimental results are presented that verify the usefulness of the method.

The third double-track construction part of work, called Chung Ang Railroad line(Deok-So~Won-Ju) is in progress and the personal museum located 330m from the starting point of Pal-Dang Tunnel(length=4,470m) line in the canyon is to be effected by rock blasting during the tunnel excavation work, especially museum articles and building itself. This paper is the example of application suitable tunnel rock blasting pattern for excavation after the case study about the investigation and analysis of rock blasting noise pollution during tunnel excavation work. The museum is a three-story building, RC concrete structure and is located 17m from the top of the tunnel, in the center of the double-track line. Comparing estimate vibration frequency with site vibration one, it can be verified the reasonable rock blasting noise pollution as improving the application of tunnel excavation rock blasting pattern. The above pattern has been selected economically and effectively and applied to our construction field.

Recently, as demands of new railway and the relocation of existing line, a number of tunnel structures have been constructed. Tunnel structures contribute to minimize the cost and time of transport, but in case of railway fire accident bring serious damages of human life caused by narrowness of shelter, smoke and high temperature, difficulty in rescue. For that reason, at the beginning of plan of tunnel, the optimum design of safety facility in tunnel for minimizing the risks and satisfying the safety standard is needed. In this study, QRA(Quantitative Risk Analysis) technique is applied to design of railway tunnel for assuring the safety function and estimating the risk of safety. The case study is carried out to verify the QRA technique for railway tunnels in Iksan-Sili.

DangSan Bridge of Seoul Subway No 2 was rebuilt by safety reason. From Dec 1996 to Dec 1999 we were in charge of permanent way design of this rebuilt project. Especially we applied maintenance free system on the bridge by Cologne Egg alternativel(ALT1) base plate and CWR(Continuous Welded Rail) by ZLR(Zero Longitudinal Restraint) for 125m(south approach section), 120m long(north approach section). This thesis generally introduce for CWR by ZLR which was first adapted CWR system in Korea.
