Although there has been substantial research on the squeal noise for the automotive brake system, robust design issues with respect to control factors equivalent to design variables in optimization, noise factors due to system uncertainties, and signal factors designed to accommodate a user-adjustable setting still need to be addressed. For the purpose, the robust optimal design applied to the disk brake system has been investigated by DOE (Design of Experiments) based Taguchi analysis with dynamic characteristics. The specific goal of this methodology is to identify a design with linear signal-response relationship, and variability minimization. The finite element models of the disk brake assembly have been constructed, and the squeal noise problems have been solved by complex eigenvalue analysis. As the practical robust optimal design, material properties of pad, disk, and backplate, thickness and geometry of pad are selected as control factors, material properties of pad and disk, and the contact stiffness have been considered as noise factors, and friction coefficient between pad and disk is chosen as a signal factor. Through the DOE based robust design, the signal-to-noise ratio and the sensitivity for each orthogonal array experiment have been analyzed. Also, it has been proved that the proposed robust optimal design is effective and adequate to reduce the brake squeal noise.

Rollover is defined as a vehicle rotation of 90 degree or more around its longitudinal axis. Understanding the effects of vehicle and tire properties on the rollover propensity is an essential research. In this paper, the sensitivity analysis of vehicle and tire design variables has been investigated by vehicle rollover analysis, which contains multi-body vehicle dynamic models and nonlinear tire models. For the purpose, the several orthogonal arrays based on the DOE (Design of Experiments) analysis has been constructed, and main effects and percent effects of each vehicle and tire design variable has been discussed on diverse rollover characteristics.
트레드밀 운동과 밝은 빛이 흰쥐 뇌의 세로토닌 발현에 미치는 영향

이 연구는 트레드밀 운동과 밝은 빛이 흰쥐 뇌의 세로토닌 발현에 미치는 영향을 조사하는데 그 목적이 있다. 수컷 흰쥐는 임의로 아홉 마리씩 네 집단(통제집단, 운동집단, 빛집단, 운동+빛집단)으로 분류하였다. 운동집단은 일주일에 5일, 하루에 30분씩 운동하였고, 빛집단은 일주일에 5일 하루에 30분씩 10,000 lux의 빛을 쬐었으며 운동+빛집단은 운동과 빛을 위 두 방식대로 복합처치 되었다. 실험기간은 4주간이며 통제집단은 아무런 실험처치 없이 사육되었다. 우리는 통제집단에 비해 나머지 집단에서 회봉선핵과 중뇌에서 세로토닌의 발현이 유의미하게 증가된 것을 알았다. 흥미로운 것은 세로토닌의 발현이 면역조직화학법에서 운동집단과 빛집단에 비해 운동+빛집단에서 유의미하게 증가된 것이고, 면역얼룩법에서도 유의미한 증가는 아니지만 증가의 양상을 보였다는 것이다. 결과적으로 트레드밀 운동과 밝은 빛은 뇌의 세로토닌 발현에 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 우리는 성장기에 밝은 빛을 쬐면서 운동을 하는 것은 뇌 활동에 도움이 될 것이라 제안한다. The main purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of treadmill exercise and bright light exposure on serotonin expression in rat brain. Male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly assigned into four groups (n=9 in each group), specifically, control group (CG), exercise group (EG), light group (LG), and exercise+light group (ELG). Rats in EG were subjected to treadmill exercise (5 days/week, 30 min/day), LG rats exposed (5 days/week, 30 min/day, 10,000 Lux), ELG rats subjected to treadmill exercise in combination with exposure, and CG rats remained sedentary over a four-week period. We observed a significant increase in serotonin expression in the raphe obscurus nucleu and the midbrain of rats in EG, LG, and ELG, compared to CG. Interestingly, serotonin expression was significantly increased in ELG, compared to EG and LG in the raphe obscurus nucleu via immunohistochemistry. In the western blot, it showed a increased pattern in ELG, compared to EG and LG. The overall results showed that treadmill exercise and/or bright light had positive effects on serotonin expression in the brain. Therefore, we suggest that moderate exercise or exposure to bright light during a growth child may be beneficial in brain action.

To find out meaningful quantitive and qualatative properties of materials, we tend to look into an increasingly the large scale problems in molecular dynamics (MD) simulation by using parallel computing algorithm. We examine the speed-up rate according to load balancing, and the performance evaluation of parallel MD simulation schemes such as OpenMP, shared data method, force decomposition method, the complete distribution method based on domain decomposition. The simulation is performed for a nano-indentation of an Al thin film with EAM potential. The result shows that the complete distribution method based on domain decomposition is more efficient than other methods in aspect to speed-up and memory saving.
타이어 특성에 따른 ABS 장착 차량의 제동거리 해석에 관한 연구

Although diverse electronic control systems for vehicle safety issues have been developed, we still have many problems in the vehicle stability and the braking performance due to tire characteristics. Therefore, precise tire modeling and accurate tire investigation have been significant for advanced vehicle dynamic analysis. In this paper, braking distance analysis for conventional brake systems(CBS) and anti-lock brake systems(ABS) has been carried out, which contains the multi-body vehicle dynamic model and the brake control logic model. Also, tire parameters such as tread pattern design and tire/road friction, and vehicle parameters such as brake pad material and disc/pad friction have been analyzed by both computer simulation and vehicle test.
트레드밀 운동과 밝은 빛이 흰쥐 해마의 GABA(A) 수용체와 Cdk5 발현에 미치는 영향

지속적인 운동과 햇빛 치료는 스트레스에 대한 저항력을 높여주고, 우울과 불안을 감소시키며, 이러한 과정은 신경전달물질 GABA의 분비에 따라 뇌의 신경세포의 성장 및 분화 그리고 발달과정에 관여한다. 본 연구는 트레드밀 운동과 밝은 빛이 흰쥐의 해마에서 GABAA 수용체의 활성에 의해 Ca2+이 세포내 유입이 되면 calcineurin의 칼슘 의존성 경로의 활성을 통해 NFATc4 단백질 및 뇌신경세포 발달과정에 관여하는 Cdk5 단백질과 대부분의 Cdk와는 달리 신경세포 특이적 조절인자인 p35의 변화가 신경세포 생성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 면역얼룩법을 수행하였다. 그 결과 GABAA 수용체, Cdk5 그리고 p35는 통제집단과 빛집단에 비해, KCC2와 NFATc4는 다른 모든 집단에 비해, calcineurin은 통제집단에 비해 운동+빛집단에서 유의미하게 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 결과적으로 운동과 빛의 복합적 치료는 뇌의 해마에서 뇌신경세포 발달 과정에 관여함으로써 뇌기능을 증진시키는데 긍정적인 효과가 있음을 확인하였다. It has been reported that continuous exercise and bright light exposure improved resistance to stress and reduced depression and anxiety, which were attributed to enhancing neurotransmitter GABA exocytosis and stimulating neurogenesis. In this study, the effects of treadmill exercise and bright light exposure on the expression of GABAA receptor activity, calcineurin and calcineurin calcium signaling pathway-depended NFATc4, neurogenesis-related protein Cdk5 and specific regulator factor of Cdk in neurogenesis p35 in the hippocampus of rats were investigated by western blot assay. The expression of GABAA receptor, Cdk5 and p35 significantly increased in the exercise+light group compared to the control group and the light group. The expression of KCC2 and NFATc4 significantly increased in the exercise+light group compared to all the other groups. And the expression of calcineurin significantly increased in the exercise+light group compared to the control group. The overall results showed that exercise and bright light stimulated neurogenesis of the hippocampus in rats and had positive effects on improving the brain neuronal function.
