        필라테스 운동이 노인여성의 슬관절 등속성 근력, 고유수용성 감각 및 정적균형에 미치는 영향

        This study aimed to determine the effects of mat Pilates on isokinetic muscular strength of knee, proprioception, and static balance in older women. Forty one sedentary, apparently healthy females aged 63-68 and older were randomly assigned into a control(CG, n = 22) or an Pilates exercise(PEG, n = 19) group. A pilates exercise program was applied to the subjects one hour per day four days per week during twelve weeks. All subjects underwent preand post-tests in which isokinetic muscular strength of knee, proprioception, and dynamic balance were assessed. Improvements were observed in balance, mobility, and upper and lower extremity muscle strength in the Pilates exercise group(p<0.05). No significant differences in any outcome measures were observed in the control group(p<0.05). In conclusion, Pilates exercises is effective in improving static balance, flexibility, reaction time, and muscle strength as well as decreasing the propensity to fall in older women.

        위장관계수술 후 발생한 위막성 대장염

        Purpose: The risk factors of pseudomembranous colitis (PMC) are well known. However, there have been no studies of PMC after gastrointestinal operation. The aim of this study was to evaluate the risk factors and to establish the guiding principles for PMC after gastrointestinal operation. Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 39 PMC patients after gastrointestinal operation from January 2004 to December 2008. A control group of one hundred and seventeen matched to a PMC group by date of operation was chosen in a random fashion. Preoperative, operative, and postoperative factors of PMC were evaluated. Results: The incidence of PMC after gastrointestinal operation was 0.63%. On univariate analysis, among preoperative factors, albumin, PT-INR and neutropenia were significant risk factors for PMC. There was no difference in the operative factors. Among postoperative factors, duration of cephalosporin, aminoglycoside, H₂ blocker administration were significant risk factors for PMC after gastrointestinal operation. And transfusion, duration of NPO, length of stay in intensive care unit (ICU) and postoperative intraabddominal abscess, pneumonia were also significant risk factors. On multivariate analysis, the independent risk factors for PMC after gastrointestinal operation were duration of aminoglycoside administration, transfusion volume and length of stay in ICU. When period of study was divided by three months, incidence of PMC at a specific period was high. After limiting of prophylactic antibiotics, incidence of PMC fell to 0.36%. Conclusion: To prevent PMC after gastrointestinal operation, we need sustained efforts to establish stricter guidelines about prophylactic antibiotics and transfusion, and to minimize length of stay in ICU.

        포름알데히드 노출 후 Treadmill 운동이 F344 흰쥐 해마 치상회에서 신경세포 사멸 및 생성과 기억력에 미치는 영향

        The hippocampal formation is a complex region of the brain related to memory and learning. In the present study, the effect of treadmill exercise on the level of apoptosis and cell proliferation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus and short-term memory following exposure of rats to formaldehyde (FA) in F344 rats was investigated. The male F344 rats were exposed throughout a 8-week period to concentrations of FA: NCG (normal control group), NEG (normal exercise group), FACG (formaldehyde control group, 12 ppm), FAEG (formaldehyde exercise group, 12 ppm). This was done by placing them for 1 h/day and 5 days per week in a glass chamber containing FA vapor. The treadmill exercise group were made to run on a treadmill for 30 min once a day for 8 weeks. Apoptotic neuronal cell death in the hippocampal dentrate gyrus was measured by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) immunohistochemistry, and cell proliferation was detected by 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (BrdU) immunohistochemistry. And retention time was measured by passive avoidance test after 8 weeks. It was shown that apoptosis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus were significantly decreased following FAEG after 8 weeks. Cell proliferation in the hippocampal dentate gyrus were significantly increased following FAEG after 8 weeks. Furthermore, the treadmill exercise for 8 weeks increased retention time in passive avoidance task, suggesting alleviation of formaldehyde-induced short-term memory impairment. The present results suggest that treadmill exercise may protect neurons trom apoptotic neuronal cell death and aids in recovery from the central nervous system sequelae following the formaldehyde exposure.
