The silver iodide membrane electrode has showed a lienar potential response to the activities of iodide ion at the concentration range from ?? to ?? M in aqueous solution from ?? to ?? M in nonaqueous solution. This membrane electrode was very hard and durability. This electrode could be used as an indicating electrode in the potentiometic precipitation titration of sodium iodide solution with the standard solution of silver nitrate. In the nonaqueous solution the potentiometic precipitation titration curves found themselves better than they were in aqueous solution.

The PVC mixed membrane electrode made CuS powder which contain Ag₂S by the ratio of 1:4 have shown the near Nernstian slopes representing potential responses to the activity of each metal ion. The potential responses of Hg??, Ag??, Cu??, Cd??, Pb?? and Ni?? measured by the Cupric sulfide membrane electrode is proportional to the solubility products of the metal sulfides, respectively. In the range of pH 3∼8 the concentration ranges of each ion which are determined quantitatively with cupric sulfide membrane electrode is as follows; 10??∼10??M for Ag?, 10??∼10??M for Hg?? and 10??∼10??M Cu??. The cupric sulfide membrane electrode would be used as an indicating electrode in the potentiometric EDTA titration of metal ion in ammonium buffer, acetate buffer and aqueous solution. The relative errors are less than 1%. The cupric sulfide membrane electrode exhibits the reproducibility in the determination of the metallic ions the sufficient washing with water.
