본 연구는 장기간 지속효과가 강조된 미국 T사의 C제품(에어로졸)과 D제품(로션) 대비 국내5사의 A 제품(에어로졸)과 B 제품(액제)에 대하여, 사람 손에 처리 시 흰줄숲모기(Aedes albopictus)의 기피지속성에 대한 생물검정을 평가하고 시간 경과에 따른 기피 주성분인 DEET의 잔존량을 분석하였다 기피제 처리 후 8시간 조사에서 A제품은 8시간까지 95%의 기피효과를 나타냈으며, B제품, C 제품, D 제품은 각각 5, 6, 6시간까지 기피효과를 보였다. 그리고 면포를 이용한 16일까지의 장기간 지속성 평가에서, A 제품과 C 제품은 각각 10일까지 100%의 기피 지속성을 나타냈고, 시간 경과에 따른 기피 주성분인 DEET의 잔존량 분석에서도 동일한 양상으로 감소하였다. Four mosquito repellents, product A (aerosol), product B (liquid), product C (aerosol) and product D (lotion) were tested for their persistent repellency and quantity of DEET remained with the lapse was analyzed. In shirt term test with human (or 8 hours, product A (aerosol), product B (liquid), product C (aerosol) and product D (lotion) appeared over 95% repellency for eight, five, six and six hours. respectively. In long-term tests with shirt piece for 16 days, product A (aerosol) and product C (aerosol) showed 100% repellency for 10 days. In the assay of quantity of DEET remained in shirt pieces with the lapse of time, two products was decreased to the same pattern.

모기기피제로 사용되고 있는 에어로졸제 4개, 액제 3개, 그리고 로션제 1개 제품에 대하여 흰줄숲모기(Aedes albopictus)와 빨간집모기(Culex pipiens pallens)의 기피력을 조사하고, 기피 주성분인 DEET의 함량을 분석하였다. 쥐를 대상으로 했을 때 흰줄숲모기는 빨간집모기에 비해 흡혈 공격력이 높았으며, 흡혈 대상으로는 쥐(mouse)보다 사람의 손을 더 선호하였다. 쥐를 이용한 모기기피제의 기피력 평가에서, C 제품, G 제품, H 제품이 높은 기피력을 나타냈다. 이들 기피제를 사람 손을 흡혈대상으로 평가한 결과, 3개 약제 모두 2시간 동안은 100%의 기피효과를 나타내었으나 그 이후는 떨어줬으며, C 제품이 효과가 좋았다. GC를 통한 DEET의 분석에서 8종 모기기피제의 내용물 100 g 중량 내 7.31 g에서 38.9 g으로 제품 내 다양한 함량을 나타내었으며, 제품 내 처리된 DEET의 함량과 기피력의 상관관계는 정비례하지 않았다. 면포를 이용한 DEET 잔존량 대비 모기 기피력 평가에서 DEET의 함량이 약 40% 이하로 떨어지면서 흰줄숲모기의 흡혈이 이루어지기 시작했다. We investigated the repellency of eight mosquito repellents against Culex pipiens pallens and Aedes albopictus, and the quantity of DEETs were analysed by using gas chromatography. Ae. albopictus showed higher bloodsucking efficacy than Cx. pipiens pallens of the two subjects mouse and human hands, and human hand was more efficacious method for mosquito bloodsucking efficacy than mouse. Among the eight repellents were tested with mouse as subjects for eight hours, product C, G, and H were high repellency than others. In the case of human hands as subject, product C was highly effective than above other products. The DEET quantities of eight repellants varied from 7.31 g to 38.9 g in 100 g contents and we ascertained that there was a correlation between mosquito repellency and the DEET quantities remained after the treatments. It was evidenced from the long term test with shirt piece, in this test the Ae. albopictus attack was increased when the DEET quantity decreased below 40%.

In this paper, the method to calculate chromaticity coordinate from spectral power distribution of LED is presented. Also, inverse tri-stimulus algorithm to find mixed luminance of red, green, blue LED from targeted luminance and chromaticity coordinate is proposed. Besides, digital light color control system of LED lamp applied this algorithm has been developed. In experiments, each chromaticity coordinate of red, green, blue LED calculated from this algorithm has relative percentage error of few % to measured values. Digital code is drawn from inverse tri-stimulus algorithm, and measured values of luminance and chromaticity coordinate of LED lamp digitally controlled by this code also have relative percentage error within a few % to targeted luminance and chromaticity coordinate.

Milk components and their derivatives are a rich source of bioactive substances and play a central role in the development of functional foods. Many scientific evidences have shown that milk proteins have a biological health-promoting functionality. However, in recent times, dairy calcium and growth factors derived from milk have been misunderstood to cause diseases such as osteoporosis or cancer. This review focuses on the importance of milk-derived growth factors and some minor active components and briefly considers the emerging trends of personalized nutrition in future dairy research and development.

Thermal pasteurization has been effectively used for decades as a method to extend the shelf life of milk and to inactivate any pathogenic bacteria that it may contain; however, it can negatively affect the nutritional properties of milk. In recent years, the food industry has sought new, less aggressive technologies that affect food freshness and its nutritive and health benefits less significantly. Various means have been used to extend the shelf life of dairy foods, such as high-pressure processing, irradiation, ohmic heating, and pulsed electric field (PEF) technologies. Of these, PEF technologies are potential alternatives to traditional thermal milk pasteurization, owing to their advantages in minimizing sensory and nutritional damage. In this review, we have primarily focused on the feasibility of applying PEF technologies to the sterilization of dairy products and briefly discussed whether they should be adopted for use in the dairy beverage industry in the future.

Sensory analysis of milk and milk products is widely appreciated, and there is a demand for experts with these skills in the dairy industry. To this end, it is important to understand the basic principles of sensory analysis and impart training to facilitate the development of dairy food industry. This paper addresses the ISO 22935/IDF 99 guidelines on the methodology of sensory analysis of milk and milk products, training procedures and monitoring of selected assessors, and criteria for sampling and preparation of dairy samples and their assessment.

Larvicidal activity of 34 plant essential oils were tested against the 4th instar larvae of Culex pipiens pallens. Among them, six oils (basil, fennel, caraway seed, lime, thyme red, and thyme white) showed more than 80% mortality at 100 ㎎ litre?¹ concentration. GC and GC-MS analyses of the six essential oils and bioassay of their components revealed that anethole (a major component of fennel and basil oil) and (+)-limonene (a major component of caraway seed and lime oil) showed higher larvicidal activities than others. In addition to the above two components, α-phellandrene, ρ-cymene, γ-terpinene, β-pinene, and thymol showed higher larvicidal activity than Bt product.

Fumigant toxicity of 34 plant essential oils were tested against female adults of Culex pipiens pallens. Seven oils (basil, coriander, fennel, pennyroyal, peppermint, thyme red, thyme white) showed more than 60% mortality at 1 μL L?¹ air concentration and pennyroyal oil appeared to have the highest adulticidal activity. GC and GC-MS analysis of the seven essential oils and bioassay of their components revealed that pulegone (a major component of pennyroyal oil) and anethole (a major component of fennel and basil oil, LD50, μL L?¹ air =0.49) showed higher adulticidal activities than others. In addition to the above two components, linalool (LT??, min=0.91), camphor (LT??, min=1.06), fenchone (LT??, min=1.16), 1,8-cineole (LT??, min=2.93), and geranyl acetate (LT??, min=1.60) also showed higher adulticidal activity than empenthrin (LT??, min=3.45).
