      • The Effects of Early Childhood Teachers’ Perception of Children’s Right to Play and Practices of Supporting Play on Children’s Peer Play Interactions : Focusing on Mediating Effects of Practices of Supporting Play

        The purpose of this study was to explore the characteristics of the teacher’s role to provide high-quality play experiences to children. This study attempted to analyze the relationship between the early childhood teachers’ perception of children’s right to play and the practice of play support, and examine which paths of these variables ultimately affect the children’s peer-play interaction. For this purpose, data were collected from 283 teachers and 385 children of kindergartens and daycare centers located in G province. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that the early childhood teachers’ perception of children’s right to play has a significant positive effect on children’s ‘play interaction’ through their play support practice. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to reinforce the early childhood teachers’ perception of children’s right to play and to strengthen their practical capacity for play support, in order to support the children to experience high-quality play through positive interaction with their peers.

      • Puzzle Taxi: How to Share the Time and Space for Everyone in the Road

        This study focuses on the challenge in Seoul's public transportation system where taxis are increasingly used for short distances due to inconvenience during peak times. The rise in taxi fares, dissatisfaction, and traffic congestion caused by singleperson taxis add strain to the system. Public dissatisfaction with high-cost taxis is revealed, leading to a decline in taxi usage, and the study emphasizes the demand for both long and short-distance taxis during rush hours. It proposes the Puzzle Taxi as an innovative solution to reduce costs and traffic congestion. The envisioned service involves shared taxis with flexible boarding, aiming to improve efficiency, service quality, and contribute to a sustainable transportation system. In conclusion, revitalizing public transportation with shared services and introducing additional services in taxis for public benefit is suggested to enhance convenience and satisfaction while addressing issues related to private sharing reluctance.

        유아교사의 유아놀이권리 인식과 놀이지원 실제가 유아의 또래놀이 상호작용에 미치는 영향: 놀이지원 실제의 매개효과를 중심으로

        본 연구는 유아교사의 배경변인에 따른 유아놀이권리 인식과 놀이지원 실제가 어떠한가를 살펴보고, 이들 변인이 궁극적으로 유아의 또래놀이 상호작용에 영향을 미치는 경로가 어떠한 가를 분석해보는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 G도에 위치한 유치원과 어린이집 교사 283명과 이들 중 체계적 표집법을 통해 선별된 26명의 유아교사가 담당하는 유아 385명을 대상으로 자료를 수집하였다. 분석결과 유아교사의 배경변인에 따른 유아놀이권리 인식에 유의한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타난 반면, 유아교사의 놀이지원 실제는 학력과 경력에 따라 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또 유아교사의 학력, 유아놀이권리 인식이 놀이지원 실제에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으며, 유아교사의 유아놀이권리 인식이 그들의 놀이지원 실제를 매개로 유아의 ‘놀이상호작용’에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 연구결과는 유아로 하여금 또래와의 긍정적으로 상호작용을 통하여 질 높은 놀이를 경험하도록 지원하기 위해서는 유아교사의 유아놀이권리에 대한 인식을 높이고, 놀이지원을 위한 실제적인 역량을 강화해야 함을 시사한다.         Feasibility of using kimchi by-products as a source of functional ingredients

        Baechu and radish are the major by-products generated from kimchi factories. Because vegetable and fruit by-products have abundant functional ingredients, the availability of them as a source of bioactive compounds is gaining attention. The objective of this study was to determine the feasibility of using kimchi by-products as sources of functional ingredients. For this purpose, 13 by-product samples were collected from different kimchi factories and analyzed for their sugar contents, total dietary fiber (TDF), antioxidant capacity, water holding capacity (WHC), viscosity, and specific gravity. The dietary fiber contents in kimchi by-product cabbage powder and radish powder were 27.37-49.54 and 30.19-62.81 %, respectively. TDF, WHC, and antioxidant capacities of kimchi by-products were equally as high as those of other by-products that are reused in industry. These results suggested that kimchi by-products have the potential as a new agro-industrial by-product that could be recycled as valuable sources of dietary fibers.

        Organizing an in-class hackathon to correct PDF-to-text conversion errors of Genomics & Informatics 1.0

        This paper describes a community effort to improve earlier versions of the full-text corpus of Genomics & Informatics by semi-automatically detecting and correcting PDF-to-text conversion errors and optical character recognition errors during the first hackathon of Genomics & Informatics Annotation Hackathon (GIAH) event. Extracting text from multi-column biomedical documents such as Genomics & Informatics is known to be notoriously difficult. The hackathon was piloted as part of a coding competition of the ELTEC College of Engineering at Ewha Womans University in order to enable researchers and students to create or annotate their own versions of the Genomics & Informatics corpus, to gain and create knowledge about corpus linguistics, and simultaneously to acquire tangible and transferable skills. The proposed projects during the hackathon harness an internal database containing different versions of the corpus and annotations.
