Push-out test on the one end welded corrugated-strip connectors in steel-concrete-steel sandwich structure

Mehdi Yousefi,Mansour Ghalehnovi 국제구조공학회 2017 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.24 No.1

Current form of Corrugated-strip connectors are not popular due to the fact that the two ends of this form need to be welded to steel face plates. To overcome this difficulty, a new system is proposed in this work. In this system, bi-directional corrugated-strip connectors are used in pairs, and only one of their ends is welded to the steel face plates on each side. The other end is embedded in the concrete core. To assemble the system, common welding devices are required, and welding process can be performed in the construction sites. By performing the Push-out test under static loading, the authors experimentally assess the effects of geometric parameters on ductility, failure modes and the ultimate shear strength of the aforesaid connectors. For this purpose, sixteen experimental samples are prepared and investigated. For fifteen of these samples, one end of the shear connectors is welded to steel face plates, and the other end is embedded in the concrete. Another experimental sample is prepared in which both ends are welded to the steel face plates. According to the achieved results, several relations are proposed for predicting the ultimate shear strength and load vs. interlayer slip (load-slip) behavior of corrugated-strip connectors. Moreover, these formulas are compared with those of the well-known codes and standards. Accordingly, it is concluded that the authors' relations are more reliable.

Finite element model for interlayer behavior of double skin steel-concrete-steel sandwich structure with corrugated-strip shear connectors

Mehdi Yousefi,Mansour Ghalehnovi 국제구조공학회 2018 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.27 No.1

Steel-concrete-steel (SCS) sandwich composite structure with corrugated-strip connectors (CSC) has the potential to be used in buildings and offshore structures. In this structure, CSCs are used to bond steel face plates and concrete. To overcome executive problems, in the proposed system by the authors, shear connectors are one end welded as double skin composites. Hence, this system double skin with corrugated-strip connectors (DSCS) is named. In this paper, finite element model (FEM) of push-out test was presented for the basic component of DSCS. ABAQUS/Explicit solver in ABAQUS was used due to the geometrical complexity of the model, especially in the interaction of the shear connectors with concrete. In order that the explicit analysis has a quasi-static behavior with a proper approximation, the kinetic energy (ALLKE) did not exceed 5% to 10% of the internal energy (ALLIE) using mass-scaling. The FE analysis (FEA) was validated against those from the push-out tests in the previous work of the authors published in this journal. By comparing load-slip curves and failure modes, FEMs with suitable analysis speed were consistent with test results.

      • Disorders of Gastrointestinal Motility & Sensation : Subjective Lactose Intolerance In Apparently Healthy Adults In Southern Iran: Is It Related To IBS?

( Mehdi Saberi Firouzi ),( Famaz Khademolhosseini ),( Davood Mehrabani ),( Maryam Yousefi ),( Moosa Salehi ),( Seyyed Taghi Heidary ) 대한소화기학회 2007 SIDDS Vol.9 No.-

Background/Alms: Lactase deficiency leads to maldigestion and malabsorption of lactose. The symptoms of this deficiency in some individuals are abdominal pain and distension, flatulence, and the passage of loose watery stools. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of subjective lactose intolerance and its relation to Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), demographic factors and living habits. Methods: A survey of 1978 individuals aged above 35 years was conducted in Shiraz, Southern Iran, using a questionnaire that consisted of items regarding demographic data, life style and gastrointestinal symptoms including those experienced after consumption of dairy products. Diagnosis of IBS was made on the basis of Rome II criteria. Results: A total of 562 subjects reported lactose intolerance (28.41%). The prevalence was significantly higher in females, in subjects taking NSAIDs or acetaminophen, and in patients with irritable bowel syndrome. Subjective lactose intolerance was also associated with health-seeking behavior such as restricting diet, using herbal medicine, taking over-the-counter drugs and visiting a physician. On the other hand, no relation was found between lactose intolerance and age, smoking or the number of meals per day. Conclusions: Lactose intolerance has a relatively high prevalence in our region and is associated with irritable bowel syndrome. A test for lactose malabsorption should, therefore, be included in the work-up of patients with this syndrome.

      • Free Paper Session : Lower Gastrointestinal Tract 1 ; An Epidemiological Survey On Colonoscopies In Shiraz, Southern Iran

( Mehdi Saberifiroozi ),( Mahnaz Mosallaei ),( Maryam Yousefi ) 대한소화기학회 2007 SIDDS Vol.9 No.-

Background: The incidence of colorectal cancer was in the fifth level among the 10 common cancers in Iran in 1996. The incidence of ulcerative colitis was also somewhat high but Crohn`s disease had been considered rare till three decades ago. As our experience was in favor of some new change, this study was designed to determine new epidemiological pattern of colorectal cancers and inflammatory bowl disease (IBD) in recent 10 years. Methods: All files of patients who referred to colonoscopy centers of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences affiliated hospitals between 1994 and 2004 were entered our study. Results: A total of 3434 reports were studied, among all, 71.7% were normal and 28.3% were abnormal including IBD (39.8%), tumors and polyps (45%) and others (25.2%). The average age of IBD cases was 39.62±17.1 years and that of tumor cases and polyps was 49.2±19.5 years. The most common site of polyps and tumors were rectosigmoid area (58.5%) with a significant increase in the right side tumors and polyps since year 2000. There was a significant increase in the incidence of colorectal tumors and polyps in recent years. IBD had unpredictable patterns, however over 70% of cases were reported after year 2001. Conclusions: As expected, an increase in these three major colorectal diseases was noticed. The lower age of our patients with colorectal cancer and the increase in the rate of right sided lesions were the facts that should be considered in our screening programs.

Decolorization of Direct Blue 71 solutions using tannic acid/polysulfone thin film nanofiltration composite membrane; preparation, optimization and characterization of anti-fouling

        Nader Yousefi,Ramin Nabizadeh,Simin Nasseri,Mehdi Khoobi,Shahrokh Nazmara,Amir Hossein Mahvi 한국화학공학회 2017 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.34 No.8

The objective of this research was to use tannic acid (TA) as polyphenol monomer and trimesoyl chloride (TMC) to synthesize the nano-composite membranes and its application for dye removal from water. The combined effects of factors were studied by response surface methodology (RSM). Synthesized membrane was characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) and water contact angle measurement. The results showed that monomer concentrations and post treatment (time and temperature) had a significant effect on the membrane synthesis. The predicted optimum operational conditions were initial direct blue 71 concentration of 30.31mg/L; time of 16.96 min, applied pressure of 1.16 bar. Fouling mechanism was pore sealing (n=1.96). The excellent antifouling properties and resistance ability to organic and chemical reagents of the prepared composite nanofiltration membranes caused to suggest this membrane for water treatment.

        Azimi, Ako,Hagh, Majid Farshdousti,Talebi, Mehdi,Yousefi, Bahman,feizi, Abbas Ali Hossein pour,Baradaran, Behzad,Movassaghpour, Ali Akbar,Shamsasenjan, Karim,Khanzedeh, Taghi,Ghaderi, Abdol Hasan,Heyd Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.15

Background: Chemotherapy is one of the common approaches in treatment of cancers, especially leukemia. However, drug resistance phenomena reduce the likelihood of treatment success. Resveratrol is a herbal compound which through complicated processes makes some selected cells sensitive to treatment and induction of apoptosis. In the present study, the effects of resveratrol on the expression of miR 15a and miR16-1 and apoptosis in the CCRF-CEM cell line were investigated. Materials and Methods: The CCRF-CEM cell line was cultured under standard conditions and changes in miR 15a and miR 16-1 expression were analyzed by real time-PCR technique, with attention to reveratrol dose and time dependence. Also, apoptosis is evaluated by flow cytometry using annexin V and PI. Results: CCRF-CEM cells underwent dose-dependent apoptotic cell death in response to resveratrol. MiR 15a and miR 16-1 expression was up-regulated after 24 and 48 hours resveratrol treatment (p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of our study indicate that resveratrol induces apoptosis in a time and dose-dependent manner in CCRF-CEM cells. Also, increased expression level of miR 16-1 and miR 15a by means of resveratrol in CCRF-CEM cells might have a role in apoptosis induction and predisposition. According to our results resveratrol can be regarded as a dietary supplement to improve efficacy of anti-leukemia therapies.

Pulmonary Tuberculosis Diagnosis: Where We Are?

( Hamed Ebrahimzadeh Leylabadlo ),( Hossein Samadi Kafil ),( Mehdi Yousefi ),( Mohammad Aghazadeh ),( Mohammad Asgharzadeh ) 대한결핵 및 호흡기학회 2016 Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases Vol.79 No.3

In recent years, in spite of medical advancement, tuberculosis (TB) remains a worldwide health problem. Although many laboratory methods have been developed to expedite the diagnosis of TB, delays in diagnosis remain a major problem in the clinical practice. Because of the slow growth rate of the causative agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis , isolation, identification, and drug susceptibility testing of this organism and other clinically important mycobacteria can take several weeks or longer. During the past several years, many methods have been developed for direct detection, species identification, and drug susceptibility testing of TB. A good understanding of the effectiveness and practical limitations of these methods is important to improve diagnosis. This review summarizes the currently-used advances in nonmolecular and molecular diagnostics.
