The citation network and the main path of the 30 most frequently cited documents are explored using knowledge flow.

A Comparative Study of GA, PSO and ACO for Solving Construction Site Layout Optimization

The positioning and layout of facilities on a construction site is important to enhance efficiency, productivity and safety. In thispaper, three metaheuristics, Genetic Algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO), areproposed to solve the construction site layout problem in which facilities are positioned to locations so the sum of construction costand interactive cost due to facility layout constraints is minimized. The craziness concept, cross-mutate and scramble mutationtechniques are used to increase the diversity of the solutions and to keep the algorithms from being trapped at local optima. Theoptimal parameters for each algorithm are determined by using the Design of Experiment approach (DOE). Two case studies offacility layout problem derived from literature were used to rigorously compare the performances of the three algorithms, in terms ofeffectiveness, efficiency, and consistency. ANOVA test was used to compare the performances. The results demonstrate thecapability of the modified method in solving facility layout problems effectively, efficiently and consistently. This study contributesto the decision making when determining an appropriate solution for the construction site layout problem.
Dynamic capabilities for smart manufacturing transformation by manufacturing enterprises

The article compares patenting patterns in China with the United States, South Korea, Japan and Europe, using the case of graphene, 2011–2015. It aims to reveal unique features of patenting in China and identify patent descriptors, diverging from international tendencies and relevant for economic modelling. Hypotheses rely on variables such as: counts of inventors, applicants, technology classes, countries selected for international patenting and geographical origins of patent citations. The research uses quantitative techniques (descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Jaccard index and social network metrics). Using multiple analytical perspectives, the study demonstrates the specificity of Chinese patents and their limited comparability with documents from other patent offices. This has important implications for the development of economic models, which need to take into account the identified incommensurability in cross-country patent data and avoid direct comparisons of data from China and other patent systems owing to the unique features and functions of patents in China.
