Behavior of Plane Synthetic Jets Generated by an Asymmetric Stepped Slot
Ryota Kobayashi,Hiroaki Terakado,Kotaro Sato,Junya Taniguchi,Koichi Nishibe,Kazuhiko Yokota 한국유체기계학회 2020 International journal of fluid machinery and syste Vol.13 No.1
This paper presents a fundamental study of jet directional control, i.e., thrust vectoring, using a synthetic jet generated by an asymmetric stepped slot. We present and discuss the results for a synthetic jet generated by a one-sided asymmetric stepped slot and focus on the relationship between the traveling direction of the formed jet and the offset ratio of the stepped slot and/or dimensionless frequency of the synthetic jet, within a jet deflection angle range of 0–90°. We demonstrate that there is an optimum offset ratio for jet deflection under the same dimensionless frequency because the traveling direction of the synthetic jet is dependent on the offset ratio of the stepped slot and the dimensionless stroke length (dimensionless frequency).
Application of DNDC Model to Estimate N₂O Emissions from Green Tea Fields in Japan
곽유리나,Kazuhiko Kobayashi 한국작물학회 2011 Journal of crop science and biotechnology Vol.14 No.2
Heavy doses of N fertilizers are commonly applied to green tea fields in Japan, and cause large amount of nitrate leaching in ground water and emission of ammonia and nitrous oxide (N₂O) to the atmosphere. The Denitrification and Decomposition (DNDC)model was tested against experimental data on N₂O emissions from the tea field in Nishio, Aichi, Japan. There were reasonable agreements between the simulated and measured values of N₂O emissions for this site. The model was then applied for estimating the environmental impacts as affected by farm management practices, climate change, and soil properties. The model results were assessed with respect to major indicators of agro-ecosystems including crop yield, soil organic carbon sequestration, nitrate leaching loss, and N₂O emission. The results indicated that use of compost significantly reduced nitrate leaching and N₂O emissions in comparison with N fertilizer. When soil pH and texture shifted to non-acidic and coarser soil, N₂O emission increased; and a change in temperature and precipitation affected N₂O emission, nitrate leaching, and SOC sequestration. This study thus revealed the biogeochemistry model as a powerful tool in addressing the complex efficacy of the alternative farm management practices in tea fields across various climate and soil conditions.

Heavy doses of N fertilizers are commonly applied to green tea fields in Japan, and cause large amount of nitrate leaching in ground water and emission of ammonia and nitrous oxide ($N_2O$) to the atmosphere. The Denitrification and Decomposition (DNDC) model was tested against experimental data on $N_2O$ emissions from the tea field in Nishio, Aichi, Japan. There were reasonable agreements between the simulated and measured values of $N_2O$ emissions for this site. Tele-robotics in Agriculture - Tomato Harvesting Experiment -
Monta, Mitsuji,Kobayashi, Koji,Hirai, Takuya,Namba, Kazuhiko,Nishi, Takao Korean Society for Agricultural Machinery 2005 Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Vol.6 No.2
In this study, tele-robotics was researched to actualize robots in agriculture. The robot system consisted of a data collecting robot, several robots that performed their own agricultural operations, a server, client computers and networks between robots and computers. In this paper, as a first step, harvesting experiments were carried out. From the results, it was observed that the tele-robotics had feasibility to propel the robotization in agriculture. The tele-robotics has advantages not only that human workers are released from the severe working environment but also that the greenhouse can be monitored and controlled anytime and anywhere.
Synchrotron-radiation-based 174Yb Mossbauer Spectroscopy of the 1/1 Au-Al-Yb Approximant

The Yb-based valence-uctuating Au-Al-Yb quasicrystal exhibits unconventional quantum critical phenomena with unusual critical indices at low temperatures at ambient pressure. Furthermore, the quantum criticality of the Au-Al-Yb quasicrystal remains robust even under hydrostatic pressure. In contrast, the Au-Al-Yb 1/1 approximant does not display quantum criticality at ambient pressure and quantum criticality appears at approximately 2.0 GPa with the same critical indices as the quasicrystal. In this study, we conducted synchrotron-radiation (SR) -based 174Yb Mossbauer spectroscopy on both the quasicrystal and 1/1 approximant, allowing us to observe di_erences in the 4f electronic states of Yb ions between the quasicrystal and 1/1 approximant.

To identify the superconducting symmetry of Fe-based superconductors, we studied effects ofnonmagnetic-impurities on Tc, magnetic excitation spectra 00 and NMR 1/T1 − T curve, whichare sensitive to the relative signs between the order parameters on the disconnected Fermi surfacesin reciprocal space, because the symmetry is closely connected with the pairing mechanism:If the signs are opposite (symmetry S±), the mechanism is considered to be a magneticone, but when the signs are the same (symmetry S++), a novel mechanism is plausible becausethe ordinary phonon mechanism cannot realize the Tc value as high as 55 K found in Ln1111(Ln=lanthanide). Results are as follows: (a) The very small rates of Tc-suppression by impurityatoms M of LnFe1−yMyAs0.89−xF0.11+x (M=Ni, Co, Ru) can be explained only by S++. (b) The00-data for Ba(Fe, Co)2As2 (Tc 23 K) and Ca-Fe-Pt-As crystals seem to be well explained byS++ rather than by S±. (c) The nuclear magnetic resonance data can be consistently understoodby S++, too. These results suggest the S++ symmetry and a novel pairing mechanism, which canbe considered to be related to the elastic softening of C66 induced by the orbital fluctuation of thesystem.

Purpose: Although patients with late-onset hypogonadism (LOH) often experience lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), LUTS are not generally included in LOH symptoms. No study has examined the direct relation of the Aging Males Symptoms rating scale (AMS) and the International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) with the quality of life (QOL) index. We analyzed the relation between the IPSS and QOL index and various factors including the AMS in patients with LOH syndromes. Materials and Methods: This study comprised 1,688 men with LOH symptoms who visited our hospital or affiliated clinic. Factors associated with the IPSS were assessed in terms of age, scores of several questionnaires including the AMS, endocri-nological variables, and serum concentration of PSA. Among these same factors, those associated with the QOL index were also evaluated. Finally, the same analyses were repeated in 187 patients with low serum testosterone concentration (<3.0 ng/mL). Results: In a multivariate analysis using the significant items from the univariate analysis, AMS, age, and Erection Hard-ness Score correlated significantly with the IPSS. A trend analysis using items other than the AMS as adjustment factors also confirmed the relationship between an increase in QOL index and an increase in AMS. Similar results were obtained in the analysis of patients with low serum testosterone concentration. Conclusions: We revealed that the relation of IPSS with the QOL index for LUTS is closely associated with the AMS for LOH, regardless of testosterone level. When patients complain of LOH symptoms, a careful, detailed inquiry into LUTS is required.
