Transcriptome Profiling of Two Ornamental and Medicinal <i>Papaver</i> Herbs

<P>The <I>Papaver</I> spp. (<I>Papaver rhoeas</I> (Corn poppy) and <I>Papaver nudicaule</I> (Iceland poppy)) genera are ornamental and medicinal plants that are used for the isolation of alkaloid drugs. In this study, we generated 700 Mb of transcriptome sequences with the PacBio platform. They were assembled into 120,926 contigs, and 1185 (82.2%) of the benchmarking universal single-copy orthologs (BUSCO) core genes were completely present in our assembled transcriptome. Furthermore, using 128 Gb of Illumina sequences, the transcript expression was assessed at three stages of <I>Papaver</I> plant development (30, 60, and 90 days), from which we identified 137 differentially expressed transcripts. Furthermore, three co-occurrence heat maps are generated from 51 different plant genomes along with the <I>Papaver</I> transcriptome, i.e., secondary metabolite biosynthesis, isoquinoline alkaloid biosynthesis (BIA) pathway, and cytochrome. Sixty-nine transcripts in the BIA pathway along with 22 different alkaloids (quantified with LC-QTOF-MS/MS) were mapped into the BIA KEGG map (map00950). Finally, we identified 39 full-length cytochrome transcripts and compared them with other genomes. Collectively, this transcriptome data, along with the expression and quantitative metabolite profiles, provides an initial recording of secondary metabolites and their expression related to <I>Papaver</I> plant development. Moreover, these profiles could help to further detail the functional characterization of the various secondary metabolite biosynthesis and <I>Papaver</I> plant development associated problems.</P>
Retrospective study for determining recommended resection margin of neurofibroma

Background: Cutaneous neurofibroma (CNF) is a common benign tumor. Surgical intervention is currently the best treatment option for the cosmetically disfiguring appearance. Presently, there are a few guidelines for determining adequate surgical margins in literature. Objectives: This study aims to evaluate the resection margin of CNF and correlation between size of CNF and recommended margin. CNF is difficult to determine the margin visually. Therefore, study based on the size and histological findings of neurofibroma are needed to determine the resection margin. Methods: From January 2016 to July 2020 were 52 cases of CNF identified in the database of the Dept. of Dermatology at Korea University Ansan Hospital. Lesions were removed surgically with a margin of 3 mm from the clinical delineation. Tumor invasion was evaluated through histopathologic evaluation. Results: Among the 52 cases of CNF, 24 cases (46%) had a size of 1cm or more and 28 cases (54%) had a size of 1cm or less. 44 lesions (85%) were completely removed without involvement of the margin. Among the 8 cases of incompletely resected CNF, 3 cases involved both side of margin and 5 cases involved one side of margin. Interestingly, none of the cases of CNFs smaller than 1cm were incompletely resected. Conclusion: In this study, we found that CNF size should be considered when determining the resection margin. For CNFs <1cm in diameter, 3mm resection margins are mostly adequate; but for larger CNFs, greater margins are required.

<P>In this study, we demonstrate a viable and promising optical engineering technique enabling the development of high-performance plasmonic organic photovoltaic devices. Laser interference lithography was explored to fabricate metal nanodot (MND) arrays with elaborately controlled dot size as well as periodicity, allowing spectral overlap between the absorption range of the active layers and the surface plasmon band of MND arrays. MND arrays with,-,91 nm dot size and similar to 202 nm periodicity embedded in a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) hole transport layer remarkably enhanced the average power conversion efficiency (PCE) from 7.52% up 10.11%, representing one the highest PCE and degree of enhancement (similar to 34.4%) levels compared to the pristine device among plasmonic organic photovoltaics reported to date. The plasmonic enhancement mechanism was investigated by both optical and electrical analyses using finite difference time domain simulation and conductive atomic force microscopy studies.</P>

This paper presents the performance and characteristics of small spark-ignited small 2-stroke engine. A single cylinder, two-stroke, air cooled 23㏄ SI engine for brush-cutter was used in this study. For the performance of the engine, rpm, torque, fuel consumption and lubricate oil consumption were measured, and also HC, CO, NOx emissions and excess air ratio according to throat open ratio under two lubrication method were measured and analyzed. The results showed that maximum of engine rpm is nearly same in both methods and also, torque, power is similar. exhaust emissions tend to decrease with throat open ratio
