교과통합 진로프로그램이 전환기 초등학생의 진로인식과 수업참여에 미치는 영향 = The effect of subject-integrated carreer education program on elementary school student's career awareness and academic engagement

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study was to examine the effect of a subject-intergrated career education program(SICEP) on elementary school students' career awareness and academic engagement. In order to achieve such a purpose, the following questions were examined:
First, does SICEP make a difference in elementary school students' career awareness?
Second, does SICEP make a difference in elementary school students' academic engagement?
This study employed a pre-test and post-test experimental design. The subjects in this study was 41 elementary school students who were sixth graders at an elementary school in Busan. They were divided into an experimental group, which was composed of 20 students from M elementary school, and a control group, which was composed of 21 students from the same elementary school.
SICEP was applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks. SICEP covered self-understanding, understanding of jobs and work, positive job attitude and self job value criteria, and sensible career decision-making and was composed of individual activities and group activities to improve career awareness and academic engagement.
Assessment of career awareness for elementary school students(ACAES) was administrated to all subjects as a pre-test and a post-test. Also, ACAES was administrated to all subjects as the pre-test and the post-test. To test the effect of the experiments, ANCOVA was conducted.
The result of this study were as follows.
First, the experimental group which had been exposed to SICEP showed significantly more improvement than the controlled group in career awareness.
Second, the experimental group which had been exposed to SICEP showed significantly more improvement than the controlled group in academic engagement.
Based on the results of the study, SICEP contributed to the sixth graders' improvement of career awareness and academic participation. It may also help them adjust to the new educational environment, such as the Free Learning Semester.
