자존감, 사회불안 및 대인관계 지향성이 중학생의 SNS 중독경향성에 미치는 영향 = Influences of Self-esteem, Social Anxiety and Interpersonal Relation Orientation on the Tendency of Social Network Service Addiction of Middle School Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of the present study was to investigate influences of self-esteem, social anxiety and interpersonal relation orientation on Social Network Service(SNS) addiction tendencies in early adolescence. In particular, mediating effect of social anxiety and modulating effect of interpersonal relation orientation in the relationship between self-esteem and SNS addiction tendencies were examined. For this purpose, questionnaires including SNS addiction tendency scale, self-esteem scale, social anxiety scale-adolescents, and fundamental interpersonal relation orientation-behavior scale were administered to 600 middle school students in Seoul. Regression analysis revealed that, first of all, social anxiety showed partial mediating effect on the relationship between self-esteem and SNS addiction tendencies. Second, moderating effect of interpersonal relation orientation on the relationship between self-esteem and SNS addiction tendencies was found. The results of present study implicated that the level of social anxiety needs to be considered for counseling adolescents with low self-esteem and SNS addiction tendencies. Futhermore, exploration of various ways to satisfy motivation of interpersonal relation would be helpful to reduce SNS addiction tendencies of the adolescents with problems of self-esteem. Finally, limitations of the present study and suggestions for further studies were discussed.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 중학생의 SNS 중독경향성에 영향을 미치는 심리적 요인들을 확인하는 데 있으며, 특히 청소년의 특징을 고려하여 자존감, 사회불안 및 대인관계 지향성과의 관련성에 주목하였다. 보다 구체적으로는, 자존감과 SNS 중독경향성의 관계에서 사회불안의 매개효과와 대인관계 지향성의 조절효과를 검증하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소재 중학교에 재학 중인 학생 600명을 대상으로, SNS 중독경향성 척도, 자존감 척도, 청소년용 사회불안 척도, 대인관계 지향성 척도를 실시하였다. 위계적 회귀분석 결과, 자존감 수준은 중학생의 SNS 중독경향성에 영향을 미쳤으며, 사회불안은 이러한 관계를 부분 매개하고, 대인관계 지향성은 조절효과를 보였다. 이는 낮은 자존감으로 인해 SNS 중독경향성을 보이는 학생들을 상담할 때, 이들이 경험하는 사회적 불안에 대한 개입을 함께 고려하는 것이 효과적임을 시사하는 결과이다. 더불어 대인관계를 맺고자 하는 동기를 만족시키는 다양한 방법을 모색함으로써 낮은 자존감을 지닌 청소년이 SNS 중독경향성을 발전시키는 데 개입할 수 있음을 시사한다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 앞으로의 연구 방향에 대하여 논의하였다.
