There were thoughts of patriotism and filial piety already in the epic era of Korean ancient time. There was the identity of national education. The national founding father Dangun carried out the heavenly ceremony by adopting these thoughts. All the founders of the Three Kingdoms also respected these thoughts. During the three kingdoms era, Confucianism introduced from China and established Confucian schools. Korea harmonized traditional thoughts with Confucianism to develop the educational identity since Confucian scriptures contain thoughts of filial piety and patriotism. During the Goyoe dynasty, it adopted thought of Yuan dynasty and continued the education of filial piety by the influence of Sung dynasty at the end. At the time of Joseon dynasty, patriotism and filial piety became the core of national policy while she developed as a world leading Confucian state. In fact, these thoughts were highly emphasized while they developed as the Korean educational identity. Recently, the Western educational trends overflew in Korea. As a result, the Korean educational identity of patriotism and filial piety disappeared and the national educational spirit was collapsed. The President decree, Law Related to the Promotion and Support for the Act on Filial Piety on August 3, 2007 as a foundation the Regulations Related to the Promotion and Support for the Act on Filial Piety of the Municipal Government of Seoul passed in 2009. The core of this legal actions are the education of filial piety. It needs to be settled successfully in the school education in Seoul and expand to the entire country.

The Korean Youth Hyo Culture Association originally started as an International Youth Culture Association, changed to the Korea Youth Culture Association, and then again to the Korea Youth Culture Association. Has been turned into. On the other hand, this paper analyzed a total of 296 papers published from the first issue of 2001 to 34 books in 2019, and analyzed the trends and the frequency of researchers. As a result, 80 papers dealing with the traditions and ideas of filial piety focused on modernizing filial piety. 34 were talking about the tradition of filial piety, 34 were talking about modernization, and 132 were mainly dealing with the issue of humanity education. The number of publishers was the most frequently (30 episodes) by Kim Ik Soo and Jang Jae Cheon. The Korean Youth Hyo Culture Society is not easy to maintain its consensus unless it becomes a candidate for the Korean Research Foundation in the near future. Therefore, contributors are not allowed to increase synergy by integrating with the Korean Society for History and Culture, or to focus on academic guidance. Is gradually decreasing, so it is necessary to widen the scope and change it to 『Youth and Humanity Education』 so that many personality education articles can be published.

In this article, I will focus on filial piety and folklore inside Korean culture. The article is divided into three main parts. Firstly, I will elucidate folklore inside Buddhist tradition which is a fundamental aspect of Korean culture. From the standpoint of Buddhism, just like the sky and the earth, filial piety is considered as the basic principle for every living creature and thus it is the most essential thing in universe. In other words, filial piety is an ongoing affinity between parents and children, and this tie is believed to be delicately connected not only to the previous world but also to the present and the future worlds. Secondly, filial piety is embedded into every day folk culture, in particular, folk tales, proverbs and animal symbols. Folk tales and proverbs concerning filial piety show that the deep and honest devotion to parents will even impress heaven. By emphasizing the fact that also animals tend to serve their father and mother in the animal world, animal symbols stress the importance of filial piety for all human beings. In accordance undutiful persons are regarded as wild beasts. Thirdly, I will show the relation of filial piety and Confucian culture. Especially in confucianism, filial piety is the most elementary source for every activity and behaviour in human society. Confucianism was introduced to Korea from China in the late Koryo dynasty. This philosophy, or more precisely this ethical thinking and activity, has been gradually and systematically developed inside Korean culture. It still remains important today. Hence filial piety is wide spread among Korean people within confucianism. In our contemporary world, due to urbanization and industrialization, past tradition and folk culture seem to loose importance. However, Koreans are keeping their humanity and compassion thanks to the strong sense of filial piety felt by the majority of people in Korea. For the restoration of traditional culture in the 21st century it is time to recover filial piety because filial piety is the core of Korean culture as well as the root of Korean folk culture.

Our nation`s identity is shaken in due to statesman and educators ignoring Korean traditional spirits. Identity is depended on the love of one`s people patriotism and country. If identity is unsteady, nothing nation and value viewpoints. The western society and religion are nothing the word and concepts about filial piety. Our filial piety culture has strong struggle power in the world. The demand of filial piety culture will increase to an unlimited extent. The ethical doctrine that man`s inborn nature is good(Mencius`s theory) is not in opposition to the ethical view that human nature is fundamentally evil(Hsun-tzu). the meaning of benevolence in the Analects of Confucius is the direction of self-denial inside and love for human outside. A general term of propriety is five proprieties. Propriety is proper literary embellishments of the heavens reason, ceremony and law to behave like a human being.

The schooling of today is not true human education in the Western or Korean society. Therefore, we have to learn our traditional filial piety cultures. Because, in Korean society, filial piety is both the ethically important and serves as a foundation of new application of our values and identity conforming to the new ages. The practice and realistic application of filial piety as how to do filial piety and how to practice filial piety are more important than the question why do we do filial piety or what is the basic principal of filial piety. Filial piety is emphasized not just because it is inherent in Korean traditional cultures but because it serves as the basis for the desirable development of Korean society now and in the future. In fact, filial piety has tremendous universal value. Filial piety should not only be theory, it should be an everyday practice. It is important to understand and practice the method and reason of filial piety. Therefore, filial piety should not be limited to family ethics, but should be extended to all communities and to all races of the world. Systematic social and governmental efforts are needed to strengthen filial piety, social services should be reinforced to realize filial piety. Koreans are seriously concerned about the present state of Confusion in their value system due to overwhelming influence of the Western culture and the rapid changes of society. In order to be born as a leading country in the global age, it is urgently required of us to initiate new method of national and value education by reinforced to realize filial piety.
