Analysis of Academic Evaluation Indicators Based on Citation Quality

( Mingyue Zhang ),( Jin Shi ),( Jin Wang ),( Chang Liu ) 한국정보처리학회 2018 Journal of information processing systems Vol.14 No.4

The academic research performance is often quantitatively measured by means of using citation frequency. The citation frequency-based indicators, such as h-index and impact factor, are commonly used reflecting the citation quality to some extent. However, these frequency-based indicators are usually carried out based on the assumption that all citations are equal. This may lead to biased evaluations in that, the attributes of the citing objects and cited objects are significant. A high-accuracy evaluation method is needed. In this paper, we review various citation quality-based evaluation indicators, and categorize them considering the algorithms being applied. We discuss the pros and cons of these indicators, and compare them from four dimensions. The outcomes will be useful for our further research on distinguishing citation quality.

A New Single Nucleotide Polymorphism in the IGF-I Gene and Its Association with Growth Traits in the Nanjiang Huang Goat

        Zhang, Chunxiang,Zhang, Wei,Luo, Hailing,Yue, Wenbin,Gao, Mingyu,Jia, Zhihai Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2008 Animal Bioscience Vol.21 No.8

The objectives of this study were to identify polymorphisms of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-I) gene and to investigate their association with growth traits in Nanjiang Huang goats. Five hundred and ninety-two animals were used to detect the polymorphisms in the complete coding sequence, part of introns and the 5'-regulatory region of the IGF-I gene by means of PCR-SSCP. A new single nucleotide polymorphism (G to C transversion) was identified at intron 4 of the IGF-I gene in the goats. Two alleles and three genotypes were observed in this group. The frequency of G and C alleles was 54.6 and 45.4%, respectively. The statistical analysis showed that polymorphism of the IGF-I gene had a significant association (p<0.05) with birth weight (BW), body weight at 6 months (W6) and at 12 months (W12), heart girth at 2 months (G2), body length at 6 months (L6), wither height at 6 months (H6) and at 12 months (H12) and heart girth at 12 months (G12). The goats with genotype CC had significantly higher BW, W6, W12, G2, L6, H6, H12 and G12 than those with genotype GC and had significantly higher W12, H6, H12 and G12 than those with genotype GG. Therefore, genotype CC may be the most advantageous for growth traits in the Nanjiang Huang goat. However, no significant association between SNP genotypes and other growth traits was observed. These results indicated that the SNP marker of the IGF-I gene may be a potential molecular marker for growth traits in Nanjiang Huang goats.

Effects of confinement on physiological and psychological responses and expression of interleukin 6 and brain derived neurotrophic factor mRNA in primiparous and multiparous weaning sows

        Zhang, Mingyue,Li, Xiang,Li, Jianhong,Sun, Hanqing,Zhang, Xiaohui,Bao, Jun Asian Australasian Association of Animal Productio 2017 Animal Bioscience Vol.30 No.9

Objective: The present study aimed to investigate whether the long-lasting, recurrent restricting of sows leads to the physiological and psychological reaction of discomfort. Methods: Sows (Large White) that had experienced restricting for about 0.5 or 3 years and agematched sows kept in a group housing system (loose sows) were compared. Pupillary light reflex parameters were measured at the weaning stage. Immediately after slaughter, blood samples were taken to measure serum cortisol levels, and the brain was dissected, gene expression in the hippo-campus, frontal cortex and hypothalamus was analyzed. Results: The serum cortisol levels were higher in the confined sows than in the loose sows. The full maturity, but not the young adolescent, confined sows had longer latency time in the onset of pupil constriction than their loose counterparts. Real-time polymerase chain reaction analyses revealed an increased expression of interleukin 6 mRNA in the hippocampus and decreased expression of brain derived neurotrophic factor mRNA in hippocampus and hypothalamus and to a lesser extent in the frontal cortex of the full maturity confined sows, compared with the full maturity loose sows. Conclusion: Taken together, these data indicated that recurrent restricting stress in full maturity sows leads to the physiological and psychological reaction of discomfort.

Effect of different short-term high ambient temperature on chicken meat quality and ultra–structure

        Minghao Zhang,Lixian Zhu,Yimin Zhang,Yanwei Mao,Mingyue Zhang,Pengcheng Dong,Lebao Niu,Xin Luo,Rongrong Liang 아세아·태평양축산학회 2019 Animal Bioscience Vol.32 No.5

Objective: This study investigated the effect of different acute heat stress (HS) levels on chicken meat quality and ultra-structure. Methods: Chickens were randomly divided into 7 groups to receive different HS treatments: i) 36°C for 1 h, ii) 36°C for 2 h, iii) 38°C for 1 h, iv) 38°C for 2 h, v) 40°C for 1 h, vi) 40°C for 2 h, and vii) un-stressed control group (25°C). Blood cortisol level, breasts initial temperature, color, pH, water holding capacity (WHC), protein solubility and ultra-structure were analyzed. Results: HS temperatures had significant effects on breast meat temperature, lightness (L*), redness (a*), cooking loss and protein solubility (p<0.05). The HS at 36°C increased L*24 h value (p<0.01) and increased the cooking loss (p<0.05), but decreased a*24 h value (p<0.05). However, as the temperature increased to 38°C and 40°C, all the values of L*24 h, cooking loss and protein denaturation level decreased, and the differences disappeared compared to control group (p> 0.05). Only the ultimate pH24 h at 40°C decreased compared to the control group (p<0.01). The pH in 36°C group declined greater than other heat-stressed group in the first hour postmortem, which contributed breast muscle protein degeneration combining with high body temperature, and these variations reflected on poor meat quality parameters. The muscle fiber integrity level in group 40°C was much better than those in 36°C with the denatured position mainly focused on the interval of muscle fibers which probably contributes WHC and light reflection. Conclusion: HS at higher temperature (above 38°C) before slaughter did not always lead to more pale and lower WHC breast meat. Breast meat quality parameters had a regression trend as HS temperature raised from 36°C. The interval of muscle fibers at 24 h postmortem and greater pH decline rate with high body temperature in early postmortem period could be a reasonable explanation for the variation of meat quality parameters.

Vol.39 No.10

Contemporary Chinese architectural scholarship often explores the modern reinterpretation and preservation of tradition. Chinese classical landscape painting, a prominent facet of traditional culture, significantly influences today’s architectural practice. This study delves into how Wang Shu incorporates the ‘mountain’ element from Chinese classical landscape painting into his architectural designs. The focus is primarily on Wang’s two notable works: Xiangshan Campus 2nd Complex and Ningbo Museum. Wang Shu has ingeniously crafted three architectural forms inspired by the natural ‘mountain’ element: the Taihu house, the Mountain house, and the Dashan method. These designs also pay homage to the ‘three-distance’ approach seen in classical landscape paintings and the artificial mountains found in classical gardens. Notably, the Mountain houses in Xiangshan Campus Building No.14 and Building No. 19 convey a horizontal landscape, mirroring the ‘level distance’ seen in paintings. On the other hand, the Dashan method, exclusive to Ningbo Museum, aligns with the ‘high-distance’ concept of paintings. The Taihu house’s design draws inspiration from the Taihu stone rockeries found in traditional gardens. While the garden’s Taihu stone evokes the “high distance’ in the viewing experience, the Taihu house’s role as a subsidiary structure to the main building makes it somewhat challenging to analyze within the framework of the ‘three-distance’ approach. This study underscores Wang Shu’s remarkable creativity in integrating tradition into his architectural formations. His interpretation of the ‘Mountain’ concept has sparked significant interest in Chinese architecture and has influenced subsequent scholars and architects in their endeavors to upload tradition in contemporary architectural practices.

Numerical study on tensioned membrane structures under impact load

        Yingying Zhang,Yushuai Zhao,Mingyue Zhang,Yi Zhou,Qilin Zhang 국제구조공학회 2019 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.71 No.2

This paper presents the numerical simulation of membrane structure under impact load. Firstly, the numericalsimulation model is validated by comparing with the test in Hao’s research. Then, the effects of the shape of the projectile, themembrane prestress and the initial impact speed, are investigated for studying the dynamic response and failure mechanism, basedon the membrane displacement, projectile acceleration and kinetic energy. Finally, the results show that the initial speed and thepunch shape are related with the loss of kinetic energy of projectiles. Meanwhile, the membrane prestress is an important factor thataffects the energy dissipation capacity and the impact resistance of membrane structures.

Union and Debt: Evidence from Chinese Private Firms

Mingyue Fang,Yuxiao Zhang 연세대학교 동서문제연구원 2016 Global economic review Vol.45 No.1

Do unions really matter in China? Using a dataset containing more than 110 thousand Chinese private manufacturing firms, this paper is the first attempt to examine how unions’ bargaining power affects firms’ capital structures. We find that: (1) the firms’ debt levels are often positively associated with their unions’ bargaining powers; (2) when a firm is in financial distress, the management is more likely to issue more debt to strengthen its bargaining power against the union and increase its residual income; (3) compared with long-term debt, short-term debt is a better option for the management to increase its bargaining power and residual income. Our research indicates that the unions of private Chinese firms are an important policy instrument for the management rather than useless decorations, which provides valuable insights for us to understand the employee–employer relations and firms’ capital structures in emerging economies.
