In this study, we have developed a new method for the synthesis of EMF from HMF and fructose using mesoporous MCM-41 supported 12-tungstophosphoric acid (MCM-41-HPW) as the catalyst. The structure of 40 wt.% MCM-41-HPW was characterized by various techniques and its surface acidity was determined by potentiometric titration. A high EMF yield of 83.4% was obtained from HMF by the etherification reaction. Synthesis of EMF from fructose was also realized through one-pot reaction with a moderate yield of 42.9%. More importantly, the catalyst could be reused for several times without the loss of its catalytic activity.

Bing Liu,Zizhen Gou,Anqiu Liu,Zehui Zhang 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.21 No.1
K-10 clay-Al was found to be effective for the synthesis of 5-ethoxymethylfurfural (EMF) from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) with a yield of 89.5%. Further synthesis of EMF from the one-potconversion of fructose in ethanol was failed, but ethyl fructoside was produced. When the conversion offructose was carried out in DMSO, HMF was obtained in a high yield of 93.2%.
Adaptive Backstepping Based Fault-tolerant Control for High-speed Trains with Actuator Faults
Shangkun Liu,Bin Jiang,Zehui Mao,Steven X. Ding 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2019 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.17 No.6
In this paper, the fault-tolerant control problem is addressed for high-speed trains with unknown time varying system parameters, traction system actuator faults and disturbances. To represent the unknown time-varying system parameters in mathematical form, a new piecewise time-varying indicator including commonly used 0-1 case, is employed, which results in a piecewise time-varying nonlinear model with some unknown parameters and piecewise disturbances. For the healthy system with the time-varying indicator in the unknown forms and having known switching time instants, an adaptive backstepping controller is proposed to deal with the unknown system parameters and disturbances and achieve the position tracking. Further, the adaptive backstepping based faulttolerant controller with adaptive laws is developed to guarantee the system states boundedness and the position tracking, in the presence of unknown actuator faults. Based on Lyapunov function, the stability of the closed-loop system is proved. Simulation studies on CRH2 (China Railway High-speed Train II) verify the performance of the proposed fault-tolerant control scheme.

The novel magnetic PW-doped PEDOT (PW@PEDOT) imprinted photocatalyst with good reproducibility was prepared by the surface imprinting technique and microwave heating method. Due to the existence of PW@PEDOT and imprinted cavity in the imprinted layer, the as-prepared magnetic PW@PEDOT imprinted photocatalyst not only had higher photocatalytic activity, but also had the excellent specific recognition ability for selective photodegradation of TC. This paper proposed a new idea to prepare the imprinted photocatalysts.

A novel functional inorganic imprinted ZnFe2O4@Ag3PO4/SiO2 photocatalyst was synthesized by a facile sol–gel method combined with the surface imprinting technique, which possessed excellent stability. By optimizing the amount of materials, we determine the preferable addition amounts of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and tetracycline to be 0.06 mL and 0.06 g, respectively. This as-prepared functional inorganic imprinted ZnFe2O4@Ag3PO4/SiO2 photocatalyst was proved to not only exhibit high photocatalytic activity (the photodegradation rate was 61.52% under the simulated sunlight irradiation of 60 min), but also possess a strong oriented ability to selectively recognize and photocatalyze tetracycline (the coeficient of selectivity (k selectivity) was 5.14 for ciprofloxacin and 3.63 for gatifloxacin). Moreover, the functional inorganic imprinted ZnFe2O4@Ag3PO4/SiO2 photocatalyst prepared with SiO2 as the inorganic imprinted layer has good stability and can be recycled many times. This work not only puts forward a novel design idea of functional semiconductor materials but also is expected to be widely applied to the oriented catalysis for a target substance according to the practical requirement.
Catalytic conversion of fructose into furans using FeCl3 as catalyst
Xuanmu Zhou,Zehui Zhang,Bing Liu,Quan Zhou,Shuguo Wang,Kejian Deng 한국공업화학회 2014 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.20 No.2
Conversion of fructose into furan derivates 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and 5-ethoxymethylfurfural(EMF) was performed in ethanol-[Bmim]Cl solvent systems, catalyzed by FeCl3. HMF was obtained in ahigh yield of 90.8% for 4 h at 100℃ in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazole chloride ([Bmim]Cl). The ratio of[Bmim]Cl to ethanol showed a remarkable effect on the yields of HMF and EMF. The maximum EMF yieldof 30.1% was obtained in a mixed solvent of [Bmim]Cl (0.5 g) and ethanol (4.5 g). On the meanwhile, HMFwas obtained in a yield of 60.3%.

Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is one of the most common hematological malignancies all around the world. MicroRNAs have been determined to contribute various cancers initiation and progression, including AML. Although microRNA-204 (miR-204) exerts anti-tumor effects in several kinds of cancers, its function in AML remains unknown. In the present study, we assessed miR-204 expression in AML blood samples and cell lines. We also investigated the effects of miR-204 on cellular function of AML cells and the underlying mechanisms of the action of miR-204. Our results showed that miR-204 expression was significantly downregulated in AML tissues and cell lines. In addition, overexpression of miR-204 induced growth inhibition and apoptosis in AML cells, including AML5, HL-60, Kasumi-1 and U937 cells. Cell cycle analysis further confirmed an augmentation in theapoptotic subG1 population by miR-204 overexpression. Mechanistically, baculoviral inhibition of apoptosis protein repeat containing 6 (BIRC6) was identified as a direct target of miR-204. Enforcing miR-204 expression increased the luciferase activity and expression of BIRC6, as well as p53 and Bax expression. Moreover, restoration of BIRC6 reversed the pro-apoptotic effects of miR-204 overexpression in AML cells. Taken together, this study demonstrates that miR-204 causes AML cell apoptosis by targeting BIRC6, suggesting miR-204 may play an anti-carcinogenic role in AML and function as a novel biomarker and therapeutic target for the treatment of this disease. Estimation and inference for additive partially nonlinear models
Xiaoshuang Zhou,Peixin Zhao,Zehui Liu 한국통계학회 2016 Journal of the Korean Statistical Society Vol.45 No.4
In this paper, we extend the additive partially linear model to the additive partially nonlinear model in which the linear part of the additive partially linear model is replaced by a nonlinear function of the covariates. A profile nonlinear least squares estimation procedure for the parameter vector in nonlinear function and the nonparametric functions of the additive partially nonlinear model is proposed and the asymptotic properties of the resulting estimators are established. Furthermore, we apply the empirical likelihood method to the additive partially nonlinear model. An empirical likelihood ratio for the parameter vector and a residual adjusted empirical likelihood ratio for the nonparametric functions have been proposed. Wilks phenomenon is proved and the confidence regions for the parametric vector and the nonparametric functions are constructed. Some simulations have been conducted to assess the performance of the proposed estimating procedures. The results have demonstrated that both the procedures perform well in finite samples. Compared with the results from the empirical likelihood method with those from the profile nonlinear least squares method, the empirical likelihood method performs better in terms of coverage probabilities and average widths of confidence bands.

Three kinds of silver-exchanged phosphotungstic acid catalysts were prepared and used for the synthesisof potential biofuel 5-ethoxymethylfurfural (EMF). It was found that the partially silver exchangedphosphotungstic acid (Ag1H2PW) showed the best catalytic activity among silver exchangedphosphotungstic acids prepared. The highest EMF yield of 88.7% was obtained from 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF) at 100 8C after 10 h. Furthermore, Ag1H2PW also showed high catalytic activity for theone-pot conversion of fructose into EMF with a yield of 69.5%. In addition, Ag1H2PW could be reusedseveral times without a significant loss of its catalytic activity.
