      • Gender Difference in the Impact of Body Size on Income: An Empirical Study Based on Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS) Data

        肥胖的增长已经达到流行病的程度,成为中国最严重的公共卫生问题之一,人们对肥胖的偏见也在增加。但就中国而言,BMI 和收入之间的关系还没有得到研究。本文揭示了收入与身体质量指数BMI (Body Mass index)之间存在显著的正相关,以及男女之间的差异。这项研究一定程度上弥补了相关前研究的缺憾,并提供了性别之间BMI 关系的分析和定量数据。研究还考察了工作地点、婚姻状况、工作经验、工作类型和BMI 稳定性等变量如何影响和降低BMI-收入关系的显著性。 The growth of obesity has reached epidemic levels, becoming one of China’s most severe public health issues, while prejudice against obesity is also on the rise. However, the association between Body Mass Index (BMI) and income remains underexplored in China. This study unveils a positive correlation between income and BMI, highlighting gender disparities. It contributes to existing literature by providing analytical and quantitative insights into the BMI-income relationship by gender. Moreover, it examines how variables such as workplace location, marital status, work experience, job type, and BMI stability affect and diminish the significance of the BMI-income relationship in China.

        One-Year Continuous Measurement of Outdoor Radon Progeny Concentration in Beijing Area

        Background: Compared with reported data of radon concentration, data of radon progeny concentration is limited in general, especially in outdoor environment. Materials and Methods: To know both the level and the variation of radon progeny concentration in outdoor environment in Beijing area, one-year continuous measurement with a cycle of 60 minutes was carried out by a step-advanced filter (SAF) monitor for radon progeny measurement. The observation site was located in a park in Eastern Beijing area, and the observation period was from October 17, 2018 to September 29, 2019. Results and Discussion: The equivalent equilibrium concentration (EEC) of radon progeny varies from 0.7 to 19.1 Bq·m<sup>-3</sup>, with an annual average of 4.9 ± 2.7 Bq·m<sup>-3</sup>. A clear diurnal variation of EEC, higher in the early morning and lower in the late afternoon, is observed due to the high sensitivity of the SAF monitor. Conclusion: Vertical convection of atmospheric boundary layer is thought to be the main reason of this phenomenon. For annual variation, the lowest monthly average EEC appeared in April, while the highest appeared in November, which might attribute to the atmospheric stability in different seasons.

      • Computational Evaluation and Quantitative Analysis of the Impact Factor of Large-Scale Events: A Case Study of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo

        本文选择上海GDP 作为经济指标,对上海世博会对上海经济的影响进行了计算评价和定量分析。首先,对上海世博会对上海GDP 的影响进行纵向评价。建立了上海世博会对其GDP 影响的周期性增长趋势模型。其次,对上海世博会对上海GDP 的影响进行横向评价。本文随机选取八届世博会和上海世博会作为研究对象。五个可衡量的指标是参展国家、参观人数、展览面积和上海世博会前后的GDP情况。通过模糊聚类分析,得到了上海世博会对上海GDP 影响的横向评价模型。利用模糊C 均值聚类算法(FCA),得出上海世博会与大阪世博会属于同一类别的结论。 This paper conducts a computational evaluation and quantitative analysis of the impact of the Shanghai Expo on the economy of Shanghai, utilizing Shanghai’s GDP as the primary economic indicator. Initially, a vertical assessment of the Shanghai Expo’s influence on Shanghai’s GDP is undertaken, establishing a trend model that shows a periodic increase in the Expo’s impact on GDP. Subsequently, a horizontal evaluation of the Shanghai Expo’s impact on Shanghai’s GDP is performed, focusing on the Shanghai Expo alongside eight other Expos as research subjects. Five measurable indicators—participating countries, attendance numbers, exhibition area, and pre- and post-Shanghai Expo GDP situations—are selected for analysis. Utilizing fuzzy clustering analysis, a horizontal impact evaluation model of the Shanghai Expo on Shanghai’s GDP is developed. The study concludes that the Shanghai Expo and the Osaka Expo fall within the same classification using the Fuzzy C-mean Clustering Algorithm (FCA).
