      • Optimal Ad Hoc Power Control Algorithm Based on Outage Probability

        Due to the question about the distribution of the randomness, mobility and mutual interference between nodes in the wireless networks may be difficult to achieve power control accurately. Therefore, propose a power control algorithm based on minimizing interrupt probability. The algorithm which be based on random geometric network model, under ensuring receiving in the receiver by getting the SIR value, adjusts transmit power. Simulation results show that the algorithm not only can solve the problem of the distribution of the nodes in a wireless net- work, can also according to the channel decline, transmitter was adjusted dynamically in real time. Deduce approximate expression of Interrupt probability transmission capacity. Under meet minimum interrupt probability and maximum transmission capacity, deduce power control expression. By this algorithm, the outage probability decreased by 14.8%, the transmission capacity is increased by 15.6%.

        In the light of the characteristics of random change that underwater sensor change by time, space and frequency, select the best relay node to improve communication quality and get the diversity gain. A new optimal relay selection method is proposed in this paper, by considering two indexes synthetically that channel gain and underwater acoustic communication long time delay to select the best relay node. Based on the best relay node and minimization of bit error rate to take optimal power allocation of source node and relay node to realize network error rate’s reduction of 1.81 dB so then improve the overall performance of the network.

        A Novel Passivity Criterion for Bilateral Teleoperation Under Event-triggered PD-like Control with Constant Time Delays

        Bilateral teleoperation systems expand the capabilities of human spring from its telecommunication function. Majority of studies in bilateral teleoperation systems were investigated under continuous communication that easily caused traffic in communication channel. By utilizing PD-like controller, event-triggered mechanism is proposed for bilateral teleoperation system in this paper to solve congestion in channel. Velocity estimator is introduced to meet the demand of velocity information in PD-like controller and event-triggered mechanism. Through Lyapunov stability theory, the stability and position tracking performance of bilateral teleoperation system are ensured, and nonzero lower bound of adjacent triggering time is guaranteed. Finally, simulations are illustrated to validate the performance of the proposed teleoperation system.

        Explored a Cryptic Plasmid pSXM33 from Shewanella xiamenensis BC01 and Construction as the Shuttle Vector

        Plasmids are essential tools for gene transfer and manipulation in many kinds of microorganisms, but they remain mysterious in the Shewanella species. Herein, a novel cryptic plasmid pSXM33 was isolated from marine bacterium Shewanella xiamenensis BC01 (SXM) and followed by sequencing and characterization through bioinformatics approaches. At first, the plasmid DNA was digested to relatively short fragments, sub-cloned into vector pMD19T-Simple and pBluescript SK(II), then transformed into Escherichia coli (E. coli) DH5α for sequencing. A full-length pSXM33 nucleotide sequence revealed 8,068 bp with GC content of 44%, containing 12 putative open reading frames (ORFs) and several unique restriction sites. Based on the annotation of sequences, ORF1 and ORF4 showed the highest similarity to the integrase, while ORF3, ORF7 and ORF8 encoded the replication protein RepB, plasmid stabilization protein and CopG family transcriptional regulator, respectively. The promoter prediction and tandem repeats analyses suggested 15 promoters and multiple tandem repeats. Moreover, pETSXM1 and pETSXM2 were successfully constructed as shuttle vectors for E. coli and Shewanella species, based on the repB from pSXM33 and a kanamycin resistance gene from vector pET28a(+) as a selective marker. These results provide a useful genetic tool for new insight into molecular level study of the Shewanella species.

        Electromyographic Discrepancy in Paravertebral Muscle Activity Predicts Early Curve Progression of Untreated Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis

        Study Design: This study adopted a prospective cohort study design.Purpose: This study aimed to examine electromyogram (EMG) discrepancy in paravertebral muscle activity and scoliosis progression, determine how vertebral morphology and EMG discrepancy evolve during scoliosis progression, and identify differences in EMG activity between individuals with and without adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).Overview of Literature: Higher EMG activity is observed in the convex side of scoliotic curves, but not in populations without scoliosis, suggesting that higher EMG activity is a causative factor for curve progression.Methods: In this study, 267 matched pairs of AIS and controls were recruited. The participants underwent EMG measurements at their first presentation and did not receive any treatment for 6 months at which point they underwent EMG and radiographs. Early curve progression was defined as >5° in Cobb angle at 6 months. The root mean square of the EMG (rms-EMG) signal was recorded with the participants in sitting and back extension. The rms-EMG ratio at the upper end vertebrae, apical vertebrae (AV), and lower end vertebrae (LEV) of the major curve was calculated.Results: The rms-EMG ratio in the scoliosis cohort was high compared with that in the controls (sitting: 1.2±0.3 vs. 1.0±0.1, <i>p</i><0.01; back extension: 1.1±0.2 vs. 1.0±0.1, <i>p</i><0.01). An AV rms-EMG ratio in back extension, with a cutoff threshold of ≥1.5 in the major thoracic curve and ≥1.3 in the major lumbar curve, was a risk factor for early curve progression after 6 months without treatment (odds ratio, 4.1; 95% confidence interval, 2.8–5.9; <i>p</i><0.01). Increases in side deviation (SD) (distance between the AV and the central sacral line) were related to a higher rms-EMG ratio in LEV of the major thoracic curve (baseline: <i>r<sub>s</sub></i>=0.2, <i>p</i>=0.03; 6 months: <i>r<sub>s</sub></i>=0.3, <i>p</i><0.01).Conclusions: An EMG discrepancy was detected in the scoliosis cohort, which was related to increases in SD in the major thoracic curve. The AV rms-EMG ratio in back extension was correlated with curve progression after 6 months of no treatment.

        The analysis of sexually transmitted diseases with demographics on scale-free network

        In this paper we consider a model with demographics for sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) spread on scale-free networks. We derive the epidemic threshold, which is depend on the birth rate, the natural death rate and other parameters. The absence of a threshold in infinite scale-free network is proved. For a hard cut off scale-free network, we also analyze the stability of disease-free equilibrium and the persistence of STDs infection. Two immunization schemes, proportional scheme and targeted vaccination, are studied and compared. We find that targeted strategy is more effective on scale-free networks.

        Aiming at the problem of the security of the authentication mode of WLAN wireless access certification, this paper proposes a WLAN wireless access protocol based on NFC certification. The protocol adopts the Diffie-Hellman algorithm established in the unreliable air channel as anonymous AES encryption NFC security tunnel of decryption algorithm, and then using the public key password authentication mode to carries The non anonymous authentication out for the user applying for certification, while determines the conformance certification sides AES key. By shading Petric network modeling, experimental simulation proves that the protocol can effectively resist illegal access to attack and eavesdropping attacks.

        A Cost-effective Microdevice Bridges Microfluidic and Conventional in vitro Scratch / Wound-healing Assay for Personalized Therapy Validation

        Enhanced motility in malignant cell is one hallmark of tumor metastasis. The clinical reality is that each of us responds differently to treatment, driving a significant interest in the development of therapies that are “right” to the individual. A biomedical analytical tool with low-cost, sensitive and short assaytime is critical for personalized medicine. Herein, a cost-effective and user-friendly microfluidic device was developed for studying of cell migration. A two-step photolithography procedure was conducted to reveal microchannels and microchambers with different depth. The PDMS/glass slide hydride device was assembled between a polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) clamp which can adjust the pressure imposed on the device to control the fluid communication between mainchambers, thus identical wound (cell-free space) with clear edge can be easily formed within channel without extra chemical, mechanical force, fluidic manipulation and sophisticated microstructure. Using this device, we evaluated the combinatory of BRAFV600E inhibitor vemurafenib and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitor gefitinib in inhibiting of melanoma cell migration with only 20 μL cell consumption, highlighting its potential in assaying rare clinical biopsy for personalized medicine. In addition, the on-chip migration model followed strictly follow the principle of conventional in vitro scratch/wound healing assay, facilitating it is translation to biologist.

        Crystallographic Characterizations of Eutectic and Secondary Carbides in a Fe-12Cr-2.5Mo-1.5W-3V-1.25C Alloy

        In this work, the morphology and structures of the eutectic and secondary carbides in a new high chromiumFe-12Cr-2.5Mo-1.5W-3V-1.25C designed for cold-rolling work roll were systematically studied. The precipitatedcarbides inside the grains and along the grain boundaries were investigated with optical microscope,scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy andX-Ray diffraction. Selected area diffraction patterns have been successfully used to identify the crystal formationand lattice constants of the carbides with different alloying elements. The results show that the eutectic carbidesprecipitated contain MC and M2C distributed along the grain boundaries with dendrite feature. The compositionand crystal structure analysis shows that the eutectic MC carbides contain VC and WC with a cubic and hexagonalcrystal lattice structures respectively, while the eutectic M2C carbides predominantly contain V2C and Mo2Cwith orthorhombic and hexagonal crystal lattices respectively. The secondary carbides contain MC, M2C,M7C3 formed along the grain boundaries and their sizes are much larger than the eutectic carbides ones. The secondary M23C6 is much small (0.3-0.5μm) and is distributed dispersively inside the grain. Similar tothe eutectic carbides, the secondary carbides also contain VC, WC, V2C, and Mo2C. M7C3 is hexagonal(Fe,Cr)7C3, while M23C6 is indexed to be in a cubic crystal form.

      • Interactive Virtual Indoor Navigation System using Visual Recognition and Pedestrian Dead Reckoning Techniques

        Finding a destination in an unfamiliar indoor environment requires cumbersome effort to refer to a physical floor plan or directory to locate the intended destination. With the advancements of mobile technologies, a navigational system using mobile computing devices such as mobile phone or tablet could aid users in locating the desired destination with ease. This paper presented an interactive virtual indoor navigation system which is developed for Sunway University campus. In order to provide an interactive and context-sensitive navigation platform, a hybrid solution has been proposed by blending the sensor capabilities on the mobile devices to work in an indoor environment. These sensors include utilizing the built-in accelerometer, compass and camera capabilities to create an interactive content of indoor navigation system using visual recognition and pedestrian dead reckoning for Augmented Reality (AR).
