아동의 物活論的 思考에 관한 연구 : Piaget의 가설을 중심으로

This study was intended to investigate the Korean child's animism and to test Piaget's hypothesis with Huang-Lee's experimental tools. The experimental hypotheses in this study were: 1) Piagetian animism could be found in Korean children's mentality, and 2) Piaget's hypothesis could be proved not only by Russell-Dennis's tools but also by Huang Lee's. Russell and Dennis have proved Piaget's hypothesis and standardized the experimental procedures to test child's animism; however, M. Mead and Huang-Lee have denied the Piagetian animism in Manusian and Chinese children. Russel and Dennis have also suggested four developmental stages in child's animism. Twenty Korean children, aged between 4-7, were tested individually, the combined experimental procedures of Russell-Dennis and Huang-Lee being used, As a result, the first hypothesis in this study was positively confirmed only by Russell-Dennis's method. This means that the second hypothesis in this study was not confirmed. 90% of the Subjects in this study have had the concept of life or living, and did not regard inanimate objects as having characteristics of "feeling pain." It seems to us that the subjects in this study tend to make some cognitive continuity between their awareness of their living and the being of physical objects. In Piagetian terms, the subjects have not dissociated themselves from their physical and natural environment.

<P>The Maillard reaction is a chemical reaction occurring between an amino acid and a reducing sugar, usually requiring thermal processing. Maillard reaction products (MRPs) have antioxidant, antimutagenic, and antibacterial effects, and although 2,4-bis (p-hydroxyphenyl)-2-butenal (HPB242), a fructose-tyrosine MRP, appears to inhibit proliferation of cancer cells, its mechanism of action has not been studied in detail. We found that HPB242 treatment modulated expression of cyclins and tumor suppressor genes in SiHa human cervical cancer cell lines: cyclins and phospho-pRB were downregulated, whereas the expression of CDK inhibitors and p53 was enhanced. HPB242 induced apoptosis dose-dependently by suppressing E7 expression and leading to sub-G1 cell-cycle arrest in SiHa cell lines; treatment also led to the proteolytic cleavage of caspase-3, -9, and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase. Moreover, HPB242 upregulated Fas expression, altered expressions of pro- and antiapoptotic factors, and also inhibited nuclear translocation of nuclear factor κB and phosphorylation of IκB. HPB242 treatment decreased phosphatidyl inositol-3 kinase and p-Akt expression levels, demonstrating that this survival pathway may also be inhibited by HPB242. Cumulatively, HPB242 promotes apoptosis by influencing E7 expression, inducing cell-cycle arrest at sub-G1 phase, and promoting both intrinsic (mitochondrial) and extrinsic (Fas-dependent) apoptosis in SiHa human cervical cancer cells.</P>

<P>Naringenin, a well-known naturally occurring flavonone, demonstrates cytotoxicity in a variety of human cancer cell lines; its inhibitory effects on tumor growth have spurred interest in its therapeutic application. In this study, naringenin was derivatized to produce more effective small-molecule inhibitors of cancer cell proliferation, and the anticancer effects of its derivative, 5-hydroxy-7,4′-diacetyloxyflavanone-<I>N</I>-phenyl hydrazone (N101-43), in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines NCI-H460, A549, and NCI-H1299 were investigated. Naringenin itself possesses no cytotoxicity against lung cancer cells. In contrast, N101-43 inhibits proliferation of both NCI-H460 and A549 cell lines; this capacity is lost in p53-lacking NCI-H1299 cells. N101-43 induces apoptosis via sub-G<SUB>1</SUB> cell-cycle arrest in NCI-H460 and via G<SUB>0</SUB>/G<SUB>1</SUB> arrest in A549 cells. Expression of apoptosis and cell-cycle regulatory factors is altered: Cyclins A and D1 and phospho-pRb are down-regulated, but expression of CDK inhibitors such as p21, p27, and p53 is enhanced by N101-43 treatment; N101-43 also increases expression levels of the extrinsic death receptor Fas and its binding partner FasL. Furthermore, N101-43 treatment diminishes levels of cell survival factors such as PI3K and p-Akt dose-dependently, and N101-43 additionally induces cleavage of the pro-apoptotic factors caspase-3, caspase-8, and poly ADP-ribose polymerase (PARP). Cumulatively, these investigations show that the naringenin derivative N101-43 induces apoptosis via up-regulation of Fas/FasL expression, activation of caspase cascades, and inhibition of PI3K/Akt survival signaling pathways in NCI-H460 and A549 cells. In conclusion, these data indicate that N101-43 may have potential as an anticancer agent in NSCLC.</P>

The present study was intended to explore the verbal interaction mode between mother and child according to their socio-economic status in Korea setting and to test the effect of the verbal interaction program developed by the author. Bernstein indicated that the mother's verbal characteristics effected by her socio-economic status would have a strong influence on her child's language and cognitive development. He found out that the mother's verbal characteristics were differentiated depending on the socio-economic status to which her family belongs, that is, mothers of the upper class used elaborated language code and mothers of lower class used restricted language code. The subjects for the first study were 16 upper class mothers and their children and 16 lawer class mothers and their children in Seoul area. A toy named Dial Sketch was provided to mothers who were instructed to draw circle with their children. Tape recording was done while each mother was teaching her child how to draw a circle with Dial Sketch. Average required time was 15 minutes. The subjects for the second study were 16 lower class mothers. Four mothers droped out. Twelve mothers remains in the last period of the program. The program was practiced once per week for eight weeks. First, the comparison of the characteristics of the mother's verbal expressions used by two classes is as follows: 1. The mothers in the upper class used more complex language structures than those in the lower class. 2. The mothers in the upper class used more disirable verbal expressions in terms of their function than those in the lower class. Next, the effect of practicing the program to the mothers in the lower class is as follows. 1. The anthority-oriented expressions were apparently decreased. 2. The respectful expressions were not so much increased as expected. 3. The cognitive-oriented expressions were apparently increased.

Ninety nine Korean-American students and 42 parents in Chicago area were asked to respond to 40 semi structured questions covering school work, assignment, punishment, teacher-student relation, extra curricular activities, subjects, parent relation, race and daily life. Major findings were : 1) American schools were perceived as less authoritative, less punitive than the Korean schools they had attended. 2) American teachers were rated as more concerned about students, more enthusiastic than the Korean couterpart. 3) Korean schools put more emphasis on order and restrictions due to the large size of class. 4) Most of respondents reported the subtle race discrimination but that did not constitute problems. In general, they were happy and working hard. 5) Most of the students wanted to learn more about Korean culture and Korean way of life. they wanted to keep and learn Korean language.

This study was conducted to describe forest stand characteristics of the habitats of Allium victorialis var. platyphyllum population from the ecological analysis of classification of vegetation types, importance values, species diversity, interspecific association and community similarity in Ulleung Island and Mt. Hambaek, in which investigated by 48 plots (10 m×10 m). The vegetation studied was classified into 1 community group, 2communities, 2 groups and 3 subgroups for a species unit and divided by 5 units for a vegetation unit. In the Fagus engleriana group (vegetation unit 1, 2 and 3), importance value of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum in herb layer showed relatively higher value than other units. Importance value of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum in herb layer had higher value. In the analysis of interspecific association, most of the species associated positively to A. victorialis var. platyphyllum belonged to habitat features of valley area and sub-alpine zone. Therefore, it was considered that the growing environment of A. victorialis var. platyphyllum population was closely correlated to soil moisture and air humidity.

Development of commercial technology for expansion in domestic anthracite coal utilization is urgent due to the mass reserves of low grade anthracite in Korea. Therefore, a series of experiments were conducted in this study to resolve this problem using CPT column in order to check the possibility of high-quality production for the fine coal that is impossible to treat by dry separation method. Particle size analysis was conducted for the sample using disk mill and vibro screen, and preliminary experiment was conducted for +100 mesh of the product obtained through this process by batch flotation(Sub-A type). Comparison experiment was conducted for -100 mesh and 100 × 325 mesh by each factor-specific condition applying to CPT Column. The result of CPT column flotation by using the proper reagent confirmed through batch flotation was ash rejection 83.15% and recovery 91.44% under the conditions of pulp density 5%, frother temperature 26°C, Kerosene collector (200mL/ton), Pine oil frother (1L./ton), Lime depressant (3kg/ton), air flow rate (1,400mL/ton) and wash water (300mL/ton).
