Yong Hao,Feng Chen,Yun-hui Han,Xue-qian Hao,Chun-hui Du,Qiu-yu Ding 대한토목학회 2024 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.28 No.2
In order to improve the seismic performance of vertical setback steel bundled-tube structure and meet the dynamic multi-objective requirements of seismic performance-based design, the optimization effects under rare earthquakes on the zone of fortification intensity 7 and 8 in China are researched by improving members stiffness and adding dampers in the weak parts of structure, based on dynamic elastic-plastic analysis. The results show that: 1) Under rare earthquakes on the zone of fortification intensity 7, increasing the stiffness of weak skirt beam can improve the seismic performance of spiral and symmetrical setback structure; 2) For the spiral setback structure, under rare earthquakes on the zone of fortification intensity 7, the damper can only be arranged at the junction of the first layer of the setback frame unit and the frame unit without setback. However, under rare earthquakes on the zone of fortification intensity 8, it is not advisable to install dampers at the weak areas; 3) After incorporating dampers at the weak areas of symmetrical setback structure, the optimized members experienced a reduction in stress levels, significantly decreased the inter-layer displacement angles with a maximum reduction of 43%, and the optimization effect is significant.
Study on the Wind-induced Interference Effect of a Large-span Roof Structure Building Group
Yong Hao,Tian-jiao Han,Hang-fei Wu,Hua-hai Dong,Yin Zhou,Chun-hui Du,Yun-hui Han 대한토목학회 2024 KSCE Journal of Civil Engineering Vol.28 No.4
The wind-induced interference effects existing during the construction of a building group were studied in the context of the Zhangjiakou Olympic Sports Center project. Based on CFD numerical simulations, 120 and 96 different working conditions during construction of a swimming pool and speed skating hall were simulated and analyzed respectively, and the numerical simulation results were found to be in high agreement with the wind tunnel test results, which verified the accuracy and feasibility of the numerical simulation. By comparing the wind-induced interference effects of the surrounding buildings on the swimming pool and the speed skating hall during different construction periods, it was found that the swimming pool was more affected by the interference of the surrounding buildings than the speed skating hall, and the wall area was more affected by the interference than the roof area. The wind-induced response of the swimming pool structure during different construction periods was analyzed, and it was found that the interference effect under some working conditions had a greater impact on the structural stress, and it was suggested that the wind interference effect brought about by the construction of the building should not be ignored in such projects.
A Low-cost IMU/GNSS Cooperative Positioning Method for VANETs in the Urban Environments
Yong Hao,Feng Shen 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Smart Home Vol.9 No.12
It is important to know the key problem of the emerging intelligent transportation systems –relative position, especially in the collision warning and speeds advisory. However, the commercial Global Satellite Navigation Systems (GNSS) receiver cannot up to the standard of these purpose. Fortunately, using Cooperative Positioning (CP) techniques to share the GNSS measurements between vehicles can largely improve the performance of relative positioning in a vehicular ad hoc network (VANET). But in urban environments, the reduced quality or complete unavailability of GNSS measurements challenge the effectiveness of any CP algorithm. In this paper, a new improved tight CP technique is proposed which adds the measurements from low cost inertial sensors. In the enhanced CP method proposed here, vehicles communicate their GPS measurements and inertial measurement unit (IMU) data, and each vehicle fuses local GPS and IMU measurements and those of the neighbours. Experimental results show that the new tight integration CP method can enhance the relative positioning in low GPS coverage environment, such as in very dense urban areas and tunnels.
Novel Unit Commitment Approach for Wind Farm
Yonghao Gui,Chung Hun Kim,Young Ok Lee,Chung Choo Chung 제어로봇시스템학회 2012 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2012 No.10
Due to increasing of the wind power penetration in power systems, centralized control for a wind farm is needed to connect to the grid. This paper describes an optimal unit commitment problem, which is a part of wind farm centralized control that schedules the wind turbines of wind farm to satisfy the demand power from transmission system operator. Four binary variables are introduced to formulate a new objective function which is to minimize the sum of expected production cost, the expected cost of unserved energy, start-up and shut-down cost of each turbine. Different scenarios are illustrated in the illustrative example, which is consisting of 10 wind turbines, by using the proposed method. Simulation results show that adjusting the coefficients in the objective function can schedule the commitment of wind turbines according to the transmission system operator.

In the age of big data, distributed data providers need to ensure the privacy, while data analysts need to mine the value of data. Therefore, how to find the privacy-utility tradeoff has become a research hotspot. Besides, the adversary may have the background knowledge of the data source. Therefore, it is significant to solve the privacy-utility tradeoff problem in the distributed environment with side information. This paper proposes a distributed privacy-utility tradeoff method using distributed lossy source coding with side information, and quantitatively gives the privacy-utility tradeoff region and Rate-Distortion-Leakage region. Four results are shown in the simulation analysis. The first result is that both the source rate and the privacy leakage decrease with the increase of source distortion. The second result is that the finer relevance between the public data and private data of source, the finer perturbation of source needed to get the same privacy protection. The third result is that the greater the variance of the data source, the slighter distortion is chosen to ensure more data utility. The fourth result is that under the same privacy restriction, the slighter the variance of the side information, the less distortion of data source is chosen to ensure more data utility. Finally, the provided method is compared with current ones from five aspects to show the advantage of our method.
Passivity-Based Control With Nonlinear Damping for Type 2 STATCOM Systems
Yonghao Gui,Wonhee Kim,Chung Choo Chung IEEE 2016 IEEE transactions on power systems Vol.31 No.4
<P>This paper presents a passivity-based control (PBC) for a type 2 static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) based on an Euler-Lagrange model. The proposed method is designed based on a Lyapunov function by considering dissipation to improve transient performance. An additional nonlinear damping term is designed to regulate the capacitor voltage. It is guaranteed that the equilibrium point of the system is locally exponentially stable in the operating range. The performance of the proposed method is validated via a 100 Mvar STATCOM system connected to the 345-kV grid system in SimPowerSystems, MATLAB/Siumlink. To compare with the input-output feedback linearization method, the proposed control method has improved convergence and reduction of oscillations of the active current and DC voltage, as shown in simulation results. Lastly, it shows that the proposed method is robust to model mismatches as the variation of the grid voltage and the degradation of the capacitance.</P>

Yonghao Gui,Young Ok Lee,Hyun Jae Kang,Youngseong Han,Chung Choo Chung 제어로봇시스템학회 2011 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2011 No.10
This paper presents the design of the passivity-based control (PBC) for type 2 static synchronous compensator (STATCOM). The PBC controller, which consists of a desired control input and a new control input considering the performance of all states, are designed. PBC guarantees the exponentially stability of equilibrium point of the system. The PBC controller’s the performance is compared with input-output linearization (IOL) controller’s. Simulation results show that better performances of capacitive voltage and active current are achieved using PBC than IOL.
Economic Dispatch for Wind Farm Using Model Predictive Control Method
Yonghao Gui,Chunghun Kim,Chung Choo Chung 제어로봇시스템학회 2013 제어로봇시스템학회 국제학술대회 논문집 Vol.2013 No.10
An economic dispatch (ED) problem of committed turbines is solved minimizing each wind turbine’s output power variation by model predictive control (MPC) method. The proposed method could solve the ED problem on-line using prediction time horizon that could be selected flexibly considering time horizon based on wind forecasting errors. Dispatched wind turbines are classified into three groups considering variations of forecasted power generation: maximum power point tracking, balance control, and delta control. From the simulation study using 10 wind turbines we observed that the proposed method effectively provided the optimal solution to the scenario.
