c-Fos Expression in the Nucleus of the Solitary Tract in Response to Salt Stimulation in Rats

Salt signals in tongue are relayed to the nucleus of the solitary tract (NST). This signaling is very important to determine whether to swallow salt-related nutrition or not and suggests some implications in discrimination of salt concentration. Salt concentration-dependent electrical responses in the chorda tympani and the NST were well reported. But salt concentration-dependency and spatial distribution of c-Fos in the NST were not well established. In the present study, NaCl signaling in the NST was studied in urethane-anesthetized rats. The c-Fos immunoreactivity in the six different NST areas along the rostral-caudal axis and six subregions in each of bilateral NST were compared between applications of distilled water and different concentrations of NaCl to the tongue of experimental animals. From this study, salt stimulation with high concentration (1.0 M NaCl) induced significantly higher c-Fos expression in intermediate NST and dorsal-medial and dorsal-middle subregions of the NST compared to distilled water stimulation. The result represents the specific spatial distribution of salt taste perception in the NST.

<P>Conclusion The study met the primary objective of demonstrating equivalent efficacy of HD203 and ETN. HD203 was well tolerated, with safety comparable with ETN in this population of patients with RA.</P>

XML은 데이터 표현과 교환을 위한 강력한 표준으로 자리 잡았다. 인터넷을 통한 데이터 공유 및 분배에서 XML 기술의 중요성은 빠르게 인식되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 XML 기반 정보 시스템에 대한 보안 정책을 강화하기 위하여 XML 데이터에 대한 보안 문제와 이를 해결하기 위한 보안 모델에 대한 새로운 접근방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 방법은 XML 데이터가 가지는 기본적인 특징에 역할 기반 접근제어의 특징을 통합하는 방법이다.
포스트 코로나 시대의 블렌디드 수업 평가준거 타당성 연구: 공학계열 대학을 중심으로

In the post-Corona era, blended learning will be one of the most important instructional strategies for successful education. The purpose of this study is to examine reliability and validity of the instrument developed in the instructional aspect so that a successful blended learning can take place. This instrument consists of 31 items to evaluate class operation, online learning environment, online contents, offline class, interaction and overall satisfaction. For this study, a survey was conducted in LMS and the responses of 164 students were used for analysis. Confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate validation of this instrument and this analysis was run in R studio. As a result of CFA, the standardized factor loadings of all items were 0.930~0.754 and the reliability and validity of all constructs were adequate. The results of this instrument enable universities to manage the quality of their classes and instructors can use them as self-checklist to improve future classes in terms of instructional points. Finally, this instrument can be used in a variety of learner-centered learning environments.

<P>Triboelectric charging involves frictional contact of two different materials, and their contact electrification usually relies on polarity difference in the triboelectric series. This limits the choices of materials for triboelectric contact pairs, hindering research and development of energy harvest devices utilizing triboelectric effect. A progressive approach to resolve this issue involves modification of chemical structures of materials for effectively engineering their triboelectric properties. Here, we describe a facile method to change triboelectric property of a polymeric surface via atomic-level chemical functionalizations using a series of halogens and amines, which allows a wide spectrum of triboelectric series over single material. Using this method, tunable triboelectric output power density is demonstrated in triboelectric generators. Furthermore, molecular-scale calculation using density functional theory unveils that electrons transferred through electrification are occupying the PET group rather than the surface functional group. The work introduced here would open the ability to tune triboelectric property of materials by chemical modification of surface and facilitate the development of energy harvesting devices and sensors exploiting triboelectric effect.</P>

This study aims to explore and identify semantics of emotions evoked in the cognitive process of human beings when they are stimulated by different physical signals presented on information displays. To do this, we compared emotion maps driven from two independent experimental setups. Kansei engineering approaches using semantic differential method were adopted to draw the emotion maps. In each experimental setup, different set of subjects were asked to evaluate levels of semantic associations between physical stimuli and delivering information. The information to deliver was defined using sets of adjectives that are useful to describe various states of process in or out of control. Distinctive earcons and hapticons with different design parameters were given as the physical stimuli in each experiment. Factor analysis was applied to determine the dimensions, locations of adjectives and stimuli on each emotion map. The results showed that people`s emotions corresponding to given physical stimuli can be abstracted into 2 dimensions when they are expressed using the set of adjectives in the experiments.
