Yuan‑Chao Zou,Bi‑Wen Xie,Chuan‑Jie Qin,Yong‑Ming Wang,Deng‑Yue Yuan,Rui Li,Zheng‑Yong Wen 한국유전학회 2017 Genes & Genomics Vol.39 No.7
In present study, the complete mitochondrial genome of Sinibotia reevesae was first sequenced using the next-generation sequencing technology and annotated using bioinformatic tools. The circular mitochondrial genome was 16,572 bp in length, and contained 13 proteincoding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and 1 displacement loop locus. It presents a typical gene organization and order for completely sequenced cypriniformes mitogenomes. The control region could be divided into three parts included the extended termination associated sequence domain, the central conserved domain and the conserved sequence block. Interestingly, two stemloop domains were found in control region and OL region, respectively. Furthermore, phylogenetic analyses using concatenated amino acid and nucleotide sequences of the 13 protein-coding genes with two different methods (Maximum likelihood and Bayesian analysis) both highly supported the close relationship of S. reevesae and Sinibotia superciliaris, which was in line with the previous classifications based on morphological and molecular studies. These data provide useful information for a better understanding of the mitogenomic diversities and evolution in fish as well as novel genetic markers for studying population genetics and species identification.

As a doctor, Baikei Kojyo had a far-reaching impact in the modern history of East Asia. He started his career as a doctor in Korea where he established a private hospital. At the same time, he paid much attention to the health and epidemic prevention status in Korea and established the Training School for Vaccination Masters in order to cultivate doctors in the area of vaccination in Korea. Moreover, he was recruited by the Korean government as a teacher of Public Medical School, which made him an eyewitness and participant of the formation of Korean modern medicine. Baikei was once hired by Yuan Shi-kai as a health consultant of Chihli province as a reward for helping Yuan escape from Korea successfully during the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895, and he played a certain role in the development of the health system and medical education in Tianjin during his stay in Chihli. After Japan’s annexation of Korea, Baikei, with the support of his brothers, moved into the political and business circles, and finally became a celebrity of the Japanese society in Korea. Baikei Kojyo played an important part in the modern history of Korean medicine. His contribution to popularizing vaccination techniques and spreading western medical and health knowledge in Korea should be properly evaluated. But it was worth noting that much of his success was based on Japan’s expansion and colonization of Korea. He outlined poor medical and sanitation conditions in Korea. He shows a sense of superiority and an enlightener"s commanding attitude when faced with Korea, which is reminding us of modern western medicine"s construction system towards the society as well as the connotative power relationship and supremacy of medicine itself.

Tensile properties of geogrid are affected by the creep, installation damage, chemicals etc. So, the long-term design strength of the geogrid reinforcement is reduced by these reduction factors. GRI-GG4 presented that total reduction factor is simply multiply of each factors. But in fact these reduction factors are complexly affected to long-term properties. And one factor can affect to another factor. In this paper combination effect of installation damage, creep resistance, chemical resistance was tested and found that the total reduction factor is lower than that of the calculated factor.

A microbial fuel cell (MFC) has been regarded as noble clean energy technology that can directly convert biomass to electricity. However, its low power density is a main limitation to be used as a new energy source. To overcome this limitation, we focused on the anode improvement in a mediator-type MFC using P. vulgaris as a biocatalyst. Fuel cell performance increased when the anode was coated with carbon black or polypyrrole. The best performance was observed when polypyrrole/carbon black (Ppy/CB) composite material was coated on a carbon paper electrode. Our obtained value of 452 mW $m^{-2}$ is the highest value among the reported ones for the similar system. The effects of amount of Ppy/CB, mediator concentration, and amount of P. vulgaris have also been examined.
A Single Chord Localization Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks
Yong-Luo Shen,Yuan Zhang,Yu-Ping Hu,Jun Zhang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.8 No.1
This paper presents a novel range-free single chord localization algorithm with low energy consumption and high accuracy for wireless sensor networks. A mobile anchor node and a mobile reference node are employed to periodically broadcast beacon messages and reference messages, respectively. Each sensor node is equipped with a received signal strength indicator for comparing the signal strength. By using the edge function and the result of comparing signal strength, each sensor node only needs one chord on the communication circle for localization. Compared with previous approaches that require multiple chords, less beacon messages are required by the sensor nodes. In the proposed algorithm, the localization error mainly depends on the move distance interval. However, for the other approaches, large localization errors can be observed according to the angle between chords which may descend the localization accuracy dramatically. Analysis results indicate that the proposed algorithm is superior to other approaches in energy consumption and localization accuracy.

The study investigated the effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) on ankle functions of patients with grade I ankle sprains. Two male patients with grade I acute ankle sprain were categorised into either combined HBOT and physiotherapy or physiotherapy only groups. Pain index and ankle isokinetic peak torque, time to peak torque and average power were evaluated on the first day of the injury before the commencement of the therapy and after a week of the therapy. The HBOT was administered with 2.5 ATA, 60 min per session, a session per day for five consecutive days. Standard physiotherapy was prescribed for both patients for a week. The data were analysed by descriptive statistics and percentage differences. Combined HBOT and physiotheraphy treatment was more effective in reducing pain compared to physiotherapy only. Isokinetic ankle strength improved in both patients from pre-test to post-test. However, the patient administered with combined HBOT and physiotherapy showed a higher percentage difference in isokinetic peak torque and time to peak torque compared to the other patient. Additional HBOT over the standardised physiotherapy in patient with grade I ankle sprain may help in reducing the pain sensation quicker, eliciting faster recovery, and improving isokinetic ankle strength.

Hereditary nonpolyposis colorectal cancer(HNPCC) is one of the most common autosomal donimamtly inherited diseases, affecting as many as one in every 200-400 individuals in the Western world. HNPCC is responsible for up to 15% of all colorectal cancers (1). It has recently been shown that the mismatch repair genes, hMSH2, hMLH1, hPMS1, and hPMS2, are mutated in the germline of affected members in HNPCC families(2-6), as well as for some apparently nonhereditary cancer patients(7-9). A combination of linkage and mutational aanalysis has indicated that hMSH2 and hMLH1 are likely to be the prevalent genes responsible for HNPCc, accounting for 80%~90% of HNPCC cases(10-13), while hPMS1 and hPMS2 are thought to account for only a minor fraction of cases. The indentification of the causative mutations in HNPCC families is desirable, since it allows the carrier status of unaffected relatives at risk to be determined.

A microbial fuel cell is a noble green technology generating electricity from biomass and is expected to find applications in a real world. One of main hurdles to this purpose is the low power density. In this study, we constructed a prototype microbial fuel cell using Proteus vulgaris to study the effect of various reaction conditions on the performance. Main focus has been made on the modification of the anode with electropolymerized polypyrrole (Ppy). A dramatic power enhancement was resulted from the Ppy deposition onto the reticulated vitreous carbon (RVC) electrode. Our obtained maximum power density of 1.2 mW cm-3 is the highest value among the reported ones for the similar system. Further power enhancement was possible by increasing the ionic strength of the solution to decrease internal resistance of the cell. Other variables such as the deposition time, kinds of mediators, and amount of bacteria have also been examined.
