Applying an Artificial Neural Network to the Control System for Electrochemical Gear-Tooth Profile Modifications

Jianjun, Yi,Yifeng, Guan,Baiyang, Ji,Bin, Yu,Jinxiang, Dong Korean Society for Precision Engineering 2007 International Journal of Precision Engineering and Vol.8 No.4

Gears, crucial components in modern precision machinery for power transmission mechanisms, are required to have low contacting noise with high torque transmission, which makes the use of gear-tooth profile modifications and gear-tooth surface crowning extremely efficient and valuable. Due to the shortcomings of current techniques, such as manual rectification, mechanical modification, and numerically controlled rectification, we propose a novel electrochemical gear-tooth profile modification method based on an artificial neural network control technique. The fundamentals of electrochemical tooth-profile modifications based on real-time control and a mathematical model of the process are discussed in detail. Due to the complex and uncertain relationships among the machining parameters of electrochemical tooth-profile modification processes, we used an artificial neural network to determine the required processing electric current as the tooth-profile modification requirements were supplied. The system was implemented and a practical example was used to demonstrate that this technology is feasible and has potential applications in the production of precision machinery.

Physiological Characteristics of Lactobacillus casei Strains and Their Alleviation Effects against Inflammatory Bowel Disease

( Yang Liu ),( Yifeng Li ),( Xinjie Yu ),( Leilei Yu ),( Fengwei Tian ),( Jianxin Zhao ),( Hao Zhang ),( Qixiao Zhai ),( Wei Chen ) 한국미생물생명공학회(구 한국산업미생물학회) 2021 Journal of microbiology and biotechnology Vol.31 No.1

Lactobacillus casei, one of the most widely used probiotics, has been reported to alleviate multiple diseases. However, the effects of this species on intestinal diseases are strain-specific. Here, we aimed to screen L. casei strains with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)-alleviating effects based on in vitro physiological characteristics. Therefore, the physiological characteristics of 29 L. casei strains were determined, including gastrointestinal transit tolerance, oligosaccharide fermentation, HT-29 cell adhesion, generation time, exopolysaccharide production, acetic acid production, and conjugated linoleic acid synthesis. The effects of five candidate strains on mice with induced colitis were also evaluated. The results showed that among all tested L. casei strains, only Lactobacillus casei M2S01 effectively relieved colitis. This strain recovered body weight, restored disease activity index score, and promoted anti-inflammatory cytokine expression. Gut microbiota sequencing showed that L. casei M2S01 restored a healthy gut microbiome composition. The western blotting showed that the alleviating effects of L. casei M2S01 on IBD were related to the inhibition of the NF-κB pathway. A good gastrointestinal tolerance ability may be one of the prerequisites for the IBD-alleviating effects of L. casei. Our results verified the efficacy of L. casei in alleviating IBD and lay the foundation for the rapid screening of L. casei strain with IBD-alleviating effects.

Synthesis of N-doped Carbon Spheres Using Extended Stöber Method for SO2 Adsorption

        Yunqian Li,Yifeng Yu,Lei Liu,Hongliang Zhang,Guoxu Wang,Aibing Chen 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2017 NANO Vol.12 No.1

SO2 is one of the major pollutants in the atmosphere. N-doped microporous carbon spheres (NCS) have been demonstrated to be effective for SO2 adsorption. Here we report the synthesis of monodispersed NCS by the extended Stöber method with urea resorcinol-formaldehyde resins as carbon source, urea as nitrogen source and ammonia as catalyst in an ethanol-water mixed solvent. The obtained carbon spheres show a uniform diameter of around 550 nm, specific surface area of 476 m2 g-1, micropores pore volume of 0.20 cm3 g-1 and nitrogen doping. The NCS manifest special performance for SO2 capture with capability of 75.34 mg g-1 and good cycling stability, due to the large surface area, abundant micropores and nitrogen functionality.

Exercise-induced FNDC5/irisin protects nucleus pulposus cells against senescence and apoptosis by activating autophagy

        Zhou Wenxian,Shi Yifeng,Wang Hui,Chen Linjie,Yu Caiyu,Zhang Xufei,Yang Lei,Zhang Xiaolei,Wu Aimin 생화학분자생물학회 2022 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.54 No.-

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a major cause of low back pain (LBP), and excessive senescence and apoptosis of nucleus pulposus (NP) cells are major pathological changes in IVDD. Physical exercise could effectively delay the process of intervertebral disc degeneration; however, its mechanism is still largely unknown. Irisin is an exercise-induced myokine released upon cleavage of the membrane-bound precursor protein fibronectin type III domain-containing protein 5 (FNDC5), and its levels increase after physical exercise. Here, we show that after physical exercise, FNDC5/irisin levels increase in the circulation and NP, senescence and apoptosis are reduced, autophagy is activated in NP tissue, and the progression of IVDD is delayed. Conversely, after knocking out FNDC5, the benefits of physical exercise are compromised. Moreover, the overexpression of FNDC5 in NP tissue effectively alleviated the degeneration of the intervertebral disc (IVD) in rats. By showing that FNDC5/irisin is an important mediator of the beneficial effects of physical exercise in the IVDD model, the study proposes FNDC5/irisin as a novel agent capable of activating autophagy and protecting NP from senescence and apoptosis.

Effect of Phosphodiesterase-5 Inhibitors on the Treatment of Male Infertility: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

        Dong Liang,Zhang Xiaojin,Yan Xuhong,Shen Yifeng,Li Yulin,Yu Xujun 대한남성과학회 2021 The World Journal of Men's Health Vol.39 No.4

Purpose: Male infertility is a worldwide problem with limitations in the treatment. Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (PDE5is) is the first choice for the treatment of erectile dysfunction, more and more studies show that it has a certain effect on male infertility in recent years. But there was currently no high quality of systematic review to evaluate the effects of PDE5is on semen quality. Materials and Methods: We retrieved the electronic databases of MEDLINE, PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, etc. Related randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were collected and selected up to May 20, 2020. We have searched literature with terms “male infertility”, “phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors”, “PDE5i”, “Tadalafil”, “Sildenafil”, “Vardenafil”, “Udenafil”, “Avanafil”, “semen”, and “sperm”. Mean value and its standard deviation were used to perform quantitative analysis. All statistical analyses were conducted by RevMan 5.3 and Stata software. Results: There were a total of 1,121 participants in the nine included studies. There was a statistically significant improvement treated with PDE5is compared with sham therapy, which including sperm concentration (mean difference [MD]=1.96, 95% confidence interval [CI]=1.70–2.21, p<0.001; MD=3.22, 95% CI=1.96–4.48, p<0.001), straight progressive motility (%) Grade A (MD=3.71, 95% CI=2.21–5.20, p<0.001), sperm motility (MD=8.09, 95% CI=7.83–8.36, p<0.001), morphologically normal spermatozoa (%) (MD=0.67, 95% CI=0.20–1.15, p=0.005; MD=1.27, 95% CI=0.02–2.52, p=0.05), sperm abnormalities (%) (MD=-0.64, 95% CI=-0.81–-0.47, p<0.001), and progressive motile sperm (MD=5.34, 95% CI=3.87–6.81, p<0.001). Conclusions: In this meta-analysis of nine RCTs, treatment with PDE5is could improve some indicators of male sperm.

      • Inter-domain Alliance Authentication Protocol Based on Blind Signature

        Zhang Jie,Zhang Qi-kun,Gan Yong,Yin Yifeng,Tan Yu-an 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.9 No.12

In large distributed networks, many computers must be mutual coordination to complete some works under the certain conditions, these computers may come from different domains. For ensuring secure cross domains to access resources among these computers in different domains, this paper proposes a multi-domain union authentication protocol. The protocol adopts blind signature to achieve mutual authentication among entities in different domains. This scheme overcomes the complexity of certificate transmission and the network bottlenecks in the scheme of PKI-based. It can trace the entity identity and supports two-way entities anonymous authentication, which avoid the authority counterfeiting its member to access other domain’s resources. Analysis shows that its advantages on security and communication-consumption.
