        Conflicts between individuals are quite natural and they can act as an positive contributing factor not only to the development of an individual but also to the organization to which one belongs. But too much conflicts will always induce dissatisfaction and stresses, which will be destructive and harmful to all of them, and that is why we are always tying to seek(find) out the causes for the origination of conflicts and remedies to cope with them effectively. The present study, as the first one in a series of studies which our researchers contemplate executing, was designed to develop a measure of job satisfaction for dental laboratory technicians. One job satisfaction measure and two job satisfaction related measures, one for faithfulness for the job and the other for environmental characteristics of dental laboratory were newly developed. The newly developed measures were comprised of a total of 38 items, which were each 12 items for job satisfaction and faithfulness for the job and 14 items for environmental characteristics of dental laboratory With the aid of factor analysis for principal components and categorization of items by panel of professionals, items of each measure were grouped into 2-4 subscales. Contribution to internal consistency was the fina) criterion for an item's inclusion in a subscale. Internal consistency reliability of each item was attested through the statistical analysis on the data obtained from 55 structured questionnaires. Reliability of internal consistency of subscales in each measure of job satisfaction and faithfulness for the job ranged from 0.74 to 0.79 and 0.90-0.91 respectively. The result from this research came to draw the following conclusions. 1. Validity and internal consistency reliability of all the items of each measure was attested. 2. The newly developed measure of job satisfaction was found to be appropriate for (measuring the degree of job satisfaction of) dental technicians, as well as for (other) dental office personnels.

        최근 우리나라의 일본뇌염 발생 양상에 관한 고찰

        모기 매개 질병에 관한 자료 수집결과 뇌염에 관하여 발병상황을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1. 1972년부터 1982년사이에 뇌염 발병 환자수의 78.5%가 전라남도, 충청남도, 경기도 지방으로 국한 된다. 2. 치사율은 최저 2.3%에서 최고 17.6%이고 평균 3.8%로 나타났다. 3. 작은 빨간 집모기가 뇌염 매개에 중요한 역할을 하고 있으나 그의 낮은 인체 選好性에 대한 이유는 아직 밝혀지지 않고 있다. 빨간 집모기와 금빛 숲모기의 노염 매기種으로서의 의미는 뇌염 매개에 있어서 그들의 역할에 따라 좀더 연구 되어야 할 필요가 있으며 돼지에 대한 면역을 통하여 뇌염 유행의 가능성을 줄일 수 있는 효과를 규명하는 연구가 필요 되어 진다.

        An Electrical Model with Equivalent Elements in a Time-variant Environment for an Ionic-polymer-metal-composite System

        Ionic polymer metal composite (IPMC) is a kind of ionic electroactive polymer (EAP) smart materialthat can exhibit conspicuous deflection with low external voltages ( 5 V). It can be cut in various sizes and shapes,and used and applied in robots and artificial muscles with the capability in aquatic operation. An IPMC strip canbe modeled as a cantilever beam with a loading distribution on the surface. Nevertheless, the loading distributionis non-uniform due to the imperfect surface conductivity that causes four different imaginary loading distributionsemployed in our structural model. The difference can be up to 5 times (3:8 mm to 19 mm). In this paper, anovel linear time-variant (LTV) model is introduced and applied to model an IPMC system. This modeling methodis different from previous linear time-invariant (LTI) models because the internal environment of IPMC may beunsteady due to mobile cations with water molecules. In addition, the influence of surface conductivity is simulatedand proven based on this model. Finally, by applying this novel modeling method, hysteresis that exists in IPMCand affects the relationship between the output deflection and the corresponding input voltage, such as 0:1-, 0:2-,and 0:3-rad/s sinusoidal waves, has been shown and simulated.

        Effect of Sn Grain Orientation and Strain Distribution in 20-μm-Diameter Microbumps on Crack Formation Under Thermal Cycling Tests

        The thermo-mechanical properties of microbumps serving as interconnects betweenSi chips in three-dimensional integrated circuits were examined in this study. Arraysof SnAg microbumps were subjected to temperature cycling tests up to 2500 cycles. Extensive cracks formed in the microbumps, and some of them propagated across theentire microbump. A microstructural analysis by electron back scattering diffractionindicated that the cracks propagated along two paths: Sn grain boundaries with highmisorientation angles and SnAg/Ni3Sn4 interfaces. The average Sn grain size was only7.4 μm, implying a large proportion of grain boundaries per unit volume, whichfacilitated crack propagation across the microbump of 20 μm in diameter.

        RUG-Ⅲ를 이용한 노인환자군분류의 타당성검증

        The purpose of this study is to classify elderly patient in long-term care facilities using RUG(Resource Utilization Group)-Ⅲ. It is designed by measuring patient medical characteristics and medical staff time. Elderly patients are classified into 7 categories by clinical(medical and behavioral) hierarchical typology of patients. Through the tertiary split, all 44 groups are formulated. This classification is explained by each patient resource(staff time) utilization level which is called CMI(Case-Mix Index). Major findings are as follows ; 1. The objects in this study were classified into 35 groups out of 44 groups. The most frequent category is clinical complex category(CCC; 38.9%). And extensive service category(ESC; 18.8%), reduced physical function category(RPC; 13.1%), special rehabilitation category(SRC; 12.8%), and impaired cognitive category(ICC; 0.96%) are followed. 2. The mean of total CMI was 1.02±0.36, ranging from 0.68 to 1.44(1 vs 2.12). The mean of CMI of SRC is only 1.17 which should be the highest. The means of ESC and SCC are equally 1.20. The means of CMI of CCI, ICC, BPC, and RPC were 0.90, 0.75, 0.83 and 0.96, respectively. 3. The validity of this classification was tested. Trend-test using Regression Analysis was done in the secondary split level. SCC, CCC, ICC, and RPC which covered 68.4% of this research objects showed linear trend of CMI in interim classification. This results were statistically significant. 4. In clinical hierarchy, the trend were showed linearity. But the multiple comparison of categories using Scheffe-test showed that SRC, ESC and SCC had same level of CMI means and CCC and ICC, too. This results were statistically significant. Classifying elderly patients with RUG-Ⅲ, the results showed partly linear trend in clinical hierarchy and in interim classification in conclusion. But, in clinical hierarchy, it was failed to show the consistent order of CMI. It can be explained by two reasons. One is that this research subjects were overlapped in each clinical hierarchy group. And the other is that the some of the characteristics for clinical hierarchy is not appropriate for them. For the further study, it needs to have proper sample size and to modify RUG-Ⅲ to K-RUG to consider our medical environment.

        Horse Riding Simulator Affect the Posture Alignment of Young Adults with Forward Head Posture

        PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of correction on posture parameters between a horse riding simulator exercise and a conventional exercise occurring in an open linear chain linking the head to the pelvis in the sagittal plane of young adults with a forward head posture. METHODS: In this study, 30 subjects were randomly divided into two groups of 15 subjects each, were assigned to the horse riding simulator exercise or the neck exercise group and they performed exercise 30 minutes per each round two times a week for six weeks. To determine the subjects` forward head posture, the three angles and three distances were measured. RESULTS: The forward head angle and head distance results showed a significant change between pre and post intervention in both group. The horizontal distance between acromion and tragus results showed a significant change between pre and post intervention in neck exercise group (CG), but no significant change in horse riding simulator exercise group (EG). The averages of each measured values of EG and CG before and after were compared, but there are no significant different between groups. CONCLUSION: Although the effects of the horse riding exercise were lower than those elicited by the neck exercise, the results demonstrated that the horse riding simulator exercise improved posture alignment for subjects with forward head posture. Therefore, the horse riding simulator exercise can constitute an appropriate alternative exercise for subjects with forward head posture.

        Anti-Inflammatory Effects of Naringin in Chronic Pulmonary Neutrophilic Inflammation in Cigarette Smoke-Exposed Rats

        Naringin, a well-known flavanone glycoside of grapefruit and citrus fruits, was found to be as an effective anti-inflammatory compound in our previous lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury mouse model via blockading activity of nuclear factor κB. The current study sought to explore the anti-inflammatory effects of naringin on chronic pulmonary neutrophilic inflammation in cigarette smoke (CS)-induced rats. Seventy Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into seven groups to study the effects of CS with or without various concentrations of naringin or saline for 8 weeks. The results revealed that naringin supplementation at 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg significantly increased body weight of CS-induced rats as compared to that in the CS group. Moreover, naringin of 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg prevented CS-induced infiltration of neutrophils and activation of myeloperoxidase and matrix metalloproteinase-9, in parallel with suppression of the release of cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor-α and interleukin-8 (IL-8). IL-10 in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid was significantly suppressed after CS exposure, but dose dependently elevated by naringin. The results from hematoxylin and eosin staining revealed that naringin dose dependently reduced CS-induced infiltration of inflammatory cells, thickening of the bronchial wall, and expansion of average alveolar airspace. In conclusion, our data suggest that naringin is an effective anti-inflammatory compound for attenuating chronic pulmonary neutrophilic inflammation in CS-induced rats.

        This article examines the course of events in Hong Kong from the election of the Chief Executive of the Special Administrative Region (SAR) in December 1996 to the handover on July 1, 1997. It attempts to understand the local perspective, to see how the Hong Kong people viewed their future and the newly elected Chief Executive. It argues that the Hong Kong people were confident of their future, but their trust in the Chief Executive wavered in accordance with different event. There was popular concern for the maintenance of the status quo, as an indicator of the viability of the concept of "one country, two systems." Chief Executive-designate Tung Chee-hwa needed to pay more attention to the differences between the "two systems," to preserve the status quo of Hong Kong, while counteracting public anxieties over the dominance by "one country." Although the SAR administration began on July 1, 1997, Tung Chee-hwa had already become the territory's shadow head in the months before the handover.
