Caring for people with dementia is associated with multiple devastating social, financial, physical, and psychological challenges. There is strong evidence that multicomponent tailored caregiver intervention is effective in improving caregiver well-being and delaying institutionalization. In US, the government is actively funding for developing caregiver program and to prove its efficacy through randomized controlled trials (RCTs) to translate into practice. Even with the introduction of Korean Long-term Care Plan, still, the most of the patients with dementia are being cared by the family members. The distress of caregiving is enormous, but structured therapeutic intervention program which efficacy is proven through RCT is very insufficient in Korea. The purpose of this article is to review the caregiver intervention programs of ongoing clinical trials comparing US and Korea, and to propose a tailored, therapeutic intervention program (I-CARE; A multicenter, randomized trial to assess efficacy of therapeutic intervention programs for decreasing caregiver burden in dementia caregiver) for hospital-care in Korea.

The purpose of the study is to identify the usability of OpenCouresWare(OCW) from the perspective of students with visual and hearing impairments. Twelve college students with disabilities(8 visual and 4 hearing impairment) implemented usability testing. Two modules in both edX and KOCW were selected for testing. Students with disabilities implemented usability testing and then each individual case was analyzed through quantitative and qualitative methods. As results, the degree of general usability in both edX and KOCW indicated an average level and the degree of accessibility in edX module was evaluated higher than KOCW. Specifically, the module of edX was rated highly by students with hearing impairments and the usability level of KOCW module was highly appreciated by blind students.

In recent years, with the increase in the number of vehicles, interests in autonomous car have increased and research on the thermal comfort of the passengers inside the vehicle has also become active. Indoor environment of vehicle, represented as a non-uniform thermal environment, is totally different from that of general building. It can be also affected by various environmental factors, changing every moment. Specifically, the uneven thermal environment in vehicle, which is caused by solar radiation, makes it more difficult to predict thermal comfort of the passenger. UC Berkeley comfort model by Zhang Hui is based on a laboratory experiment and has been widely used as a representative model for predicting passengers’ thermal comfort in transient state. However, since the developed coefficients of the UCB comfort model are all based on the voting of Western people, not Korean, it is difficult to use them directly into our new model. In this study, we conducted several comfort evaluations using Korean male subjects in the wind tunnel under the two conditions (hot/cold). Field experiments were also conducted in this study. Based on the actual data, we newly constructed the HMC comfort model which predicts thermal comfort not only in the steady state but also in the transient state. Moreover, validation test was conducted to evaluate predictability of the developed model under two conditions (hot and cold condition). From the results, the model predicted OTS(Overall Thermal sensation) of real subjects within ±0.5 TSV scales under both conditions and predicted OTC(Overall Thermal comfort) better than previous UCB comfort model did.

We investigated the performance improvement of tin disulfide channel transistors by graphene contact configurations. From its two-dimensional nature, graphene can make electric contacts only at the outermost layers of the channel. For intralayer current flow, two graphene flakes are contacted at the channel’s top or bottom layer. For interlayer current flow, one flake is contacted at the top and bottom of each layer. We compared the transistor performance in terms of current magnitude, mobility, and subthreshold swing between the configurations. From such observations, we deduced that device characteristics depend on resistivity or doping level of individual graphene flakes. We also found that interlayer flow excels in the on-current magnitude and the mobility, and that top-contact configuration excels in the subthreshold swing.
